2.7 Mr Jims Cannon Berlinerweisse Draught. Pours cloudy yellow with a tiny foamy white head. Wheat clove and yeast (dough) and banana aromas. Lemon zest flavor very acidic and activates the saliva glands immediately, with a malt body. Light and dry, fizzy. By default they will put raspberry syrup in this because of its tartness. I had to argue with the waitress to get it without. Props to Todd Hicks for brewing a rare style, but don’t add the frickin’ syrup to it and then make it so difficult to get the true beer. 2.8 Mr Jims Cannon Ironclad Stout Draught. Pours black with a small creamy tan head. Dark chocolate malt and coffee aroma with musty cellared notes. Dark coffee and bitter, hoppy chocolate flavor with citrus notes. Dark bodied and thin, a little much so for a stout. Friday, September 30, 2005

2.2 Mr Jims Cannon Red Jacket Ale Draught. Pours mahagony with no head and medium sized floating chunks of sediment. Wheat malt and yeast aroma that is grainy but very flat. Wheat and sour malt hoppy flavor. Medium bodied and somewhat thin. Friday, September 30, 2005

2.8 Mr Jims Cannon Oktoberfest Draught. Pours copper with a creamy tan head and has lined lacing throughout. Caramel malt (meal) and sour yeast (sweat) aroma with faint fruit notes (raisin, plum). Sour malt flavor with a hoppy lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied and creamy palate. Friday, September 30, 2005

3.2 Mr Jims Cannon Wiener Sort of mashed fruit aroma. Teaish amber in color. Ok this almost has the taste of a Flemish Sour. Very clean distinct finish. Very unusual beer. Ok, I talked to the brewer and he said there shouldn’t be anything sour in the taste. Well there freaking is and rather he intended it or it went bad somehow I actually enjoyed it a lot. It was like a Flemish Sour Light. I guess he won’t be able to reproduce this effect if he never intended it to taste that way in the first place, but it was sour. Not hugely so just mildly so. 3.6 Mr Jims Cannon Ironclad Stout Sweet and roasty aroma. Body is black. Pinky thick mocha colored head. Nice roasted malt flavor in the fore. Mild coffee taste and bitterness. Very smooth. Mildly bitter finish. Pretty good stuff and seemed plenty thick to me. Wednesday, July 6, 2005

3.1 Mr Jims Cannon German Relief Hefeweizen Bananna is in full force in the aroma. Cloudy yellow. Thin fast fading head. Mouthfeel is thinner than expected. Taste is heavy on the malt and wheat and the spice is muted. Wednesday, July 6, 2005

2.7 Mr Jims Cannon Special Ops Ale My pint at the pub looked like a mutt of copper, orange, and straw. Low carbonation. Grain and grass in the aroma as well as a more straight forward malt (which is lite and underneath). The flavor is grain, grass, and straw flavors, with citrus peel and woody hops at the finish. Not great, not awful. Sunday, April 10, 2005

2.8 Mr Jims Cannon Ironclad Stout Had all these beers at the brewery (4/8/05) but I’ll just note that here as opposed to on all the other brews. This one pours a very deep dark burgundy and brown color. Fluffy off white head, reminiscent of Guinness really. Smells of creamy sweet charcoal, ash, burnt malt, and some canned aromas. Creamy mouth feel (if a bit watery) caramel and toasted malt. Sunday, April 10, 2005

2.4 Mr Jims Cannon Red Jacket Ale Pours a hazy mahogany with clover honey color hints. Minimal malty non-descript aroma. Watery with minimal malts holding the body up. Flavor was nice. Malts were semi sweet and toasted. Balanced (though nondescript) hops. OK. Sunday, April 10, 2005

1.4 Mr Jims Cannon Pale Lager I believe this is the Bienville Pale Lager, copied from the Bienville Brewing Company (c. 1906). Poured a dark onionskin color, flat looking. The aroma had sharp malt and a grain husk kind of thing, but lite. Sharp and astringent body. Flavors of sour apple (?) and malt, with a variety of other undesirable flavors. No wonder the Bienville Brew co went out of business. Sunday, April 10, 2005

2.5 Mr Jims Cannon Middle Bay Light Pale and lite onion skin colors. Relatively odorless but somewhat sharp (inoffensive). Tastes of malt, very lite with citrus hops. Somewhat bright on the pallet but watery. Sunday, April 10, 2005

1.6 Mr Jims Cannon Wiener Mobile, AL Ugh... Something is going on at Jim’s cause I was a regular weekly patron but ALL of there beer has developed a nasty tart undertone that overpowers any good taste. I had two pints of the seasonal "weiner" vienna lager and had a hard time finishing them. Very acidic, but not in the good hoppy way, deep red color, no head, and the flavor could stand through strange acidic overtone. Saturday, April 2, 2005

2.8 Mr Jims Cannon Ironclad Stout Watery coffee and cola. There’s also a slight butteriness. It’s ok, but it needs more body to truly be satisfying. Monday, March 28, 2005

2.9 Mr Jims Cannon Wiener Very similar to the Red Jacket, but the flavor are all muted. Very smooth and very easy to drink. Monday, March 28, 2005

3.4 Mr Jims Cannon Red Jacket Ale Clear copper with very little head. There’s a surprising bit of chunky caramel and cake despite the very light body. Monday, March 28, 2005

2.8 Mr Jims Cannon Pale Lager Definitely has a bit of hops in it, but actually comes across unbalanced with too much bitterness in the finish given the lightness of the malt. Gold with a slight haze. Monday, March 28, 2005

2.9 Mr Jims Cannon Middle Bay Light Clear pale yellow. Crisp with a faint suggestion of tartness, but this is not bad. Monday, March 28, 2005

3.4 Mr Jims Cannon Pumpkin Ale Jim Cannon’s Brewpub in Mobile, AL on Tap of course. Deep copper color with little or no head. Delicious pumpkin pie, nutmeg, cinammon aroma with about the same flavor plus a bit of hoppy aftertaste. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Got me in the mood for the holidays.
