Big Dog’s Underbite IPA
May 27, 2016. Canned May 11, 2016. Courtesy of dwyerpg, thanks!
Clear golden with a medium sized frothy white head. Aroma is toffee, grapefruit zest, peach, pine, resin and light notes of alcohol. Taste is light to medium sweet, zesty bitterness. Finish sweet malty with some resinous notes, medium bitter with grapefruit pith notes, slightly astringent and slight warming alcohol. Medium bodied, slight oily texture, soft to average carbonation.

Big Dog’s Underbite IPA
Originally passed up on this because it was undated, but figured 1.79 was not much of a risk upon returning. I was right on both accounts. Not the freshest ipa, hints of grapefruit, other citrus and pine, but a little malt and hints of cardboard tells me this has been sitting for a bit. Pleasantly bitter aftertaste. But, only out 1.79, so there’s that. date your product!

I like this quite a bit. Light and bubbly, it has a nice tingling finish. Could drink a lot of this. A very tasty hop.

In the upper half of what I’ve tried from them and still nothing to write home about. Pale malt, some toffee, bread, moderate hops and bitterness. Just average at best.

Agreed with travlr yet again. Straw and cereal beer water. Nothing offensive, so it’s avoids the 0.somethig score, but why are craft breweries making crap like this.

They call this an English brown. Kinda somewhere in between an amber, Irish red and brown. Sweetish malts and toast with light hops. Kinda boring but not bad.

22. Light fruity and dank hops on the nose and in the flavor, but may have sat for a while - bordering on stale and too malty.

Draft to shorty at Yardhouse Vegas pour avg gold with moderate white head. Nose mango, tropical fruit, and sweet malt. Taste moderate bitter bite up front, then hop flavors from the nose, as well as some dank hop. High bitterness continues mid palate. Light pepper and moderate bitterness in the finish.

Big Dog’s Underbite IPA
Appearance was clear golden with creamy lasting white 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are citrus fruits with slight malt sweetness and soft pine resin. Taste are soft grapefruit, tangerine, orange upfront with light malt sweetness mid sip. The sticky piney finish is solid bitterness. Palate is smooth CO2 with medium body, then lasting clean balanced piney finish. Overall an solid west coast IPA, just touch much pine for me though

Not much in the aroma, surprisingly. But can definitely taste the cacao in the body. Gives it some heft, while cutting down on the sweetness. Prettyg good.

A nice IPA, this has a bit of citrus to go with all the bittering hops. A nice beer, but doesn’t really stand out to the degree the Last Call Imperial IPA does, which is truly special.

A pinkish-red, this had more to the aroma than the Berliner. It also has a lot more to the flavor. Some sour fruit and a strong biting finish. Good, just not what I was feeling at the moment.

Big Dog’s Last Call Imperial IPA
Another solid IPA from these guys. Some sweetness that balances the hops, which really aren’t that aggressive for an imperial IPA. Nice. The best thing about this is that head is almost creamy. Great stuff.

Big Dog’s Prickly In Pink Berliner Weisse
This was pretty enjoyable. The prickly pear certainly gives it a pink hue. The cactus, while sweet, is just enough sweetness that it cuts through the sourness of the Berliner Weisse base. Overall, a good beer.

Willrunforbeer hand carried this 22 oz. bottle back from Vegas, much thanks! Golden / orange color with fast dying head. Aroma is pretty fruit upfront and turns into pine.

The flavor profile is pretty good. Grapefruit, nectarine peel or citrus like pith. The bitterness is pretty substantial with lingering pine. Lengthy after the sip. The malt bill is big enough to help with balance but still displays the hops. Dry texture with normal carbonation level.

22oz bomber pours with a wonderfully hop hazed looking deep gold body that has thin copper hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up sweetened ripe citrus and juicy smelling mango with thin spicy onion like hops in the background. The taste is big and full and juicy with pineapple and mango like hoppiness. To midway it picks up tangelo citrus flowing into spicy bitter onion hoppy dankness. This is working very well with a pleasing blend of juicy and bitter spicy hops supported by an adequate malty base. Solid.

This is easily the best fruit beer they’ve made at Big dogs. It has a nice cherry aroma. The flavor has some light cherry with a Belgian Amber feel to it. A bit pricey, though some of the money is donated to charity.

Big Dog’s War Dog Imperial IPA
On tap at Bistro DIPA festival. Aroma is similar to sweet unfermented mamalt with medium light hop notes and a hint of alcohol. Pours a clear, copper gold with a large, fairly thick tan head. Flavor has a decent hop profile, but the under attenuated malt profile really detracts from the beer and is too sweet. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but it was way too sweet and the malty with a fairly average hop profile with a citrus and pine resin.

Big Dog’s War Dog Imperial IPA
Pours a shadowy gold with a brilliant white head of tightly packed bubbles (Brussels Lace and a rare [from me] five for appearance). Potent although simple aroma profile: hay, grass, cheese, and alcohol. The taste is actually incredibly balanced... I’m surprised for some reason. Nice but unremarkable palate. Would buy again. Recommended.
