355ml can @ QT Resort, Port Douglas. Clear bright golden, small short lasting white head. Not much on the nose - corn syrupy malts only. Taste is wet cardboard and corn syrup. No hop presence to speak of. Light easy drinking palate which is obviously the point of this very bland beer.

Tecate Light
Pours a very clear, very pale light straw color. Well carbonated, large bubbles streaming from bottom. Initial 3+ finger head. Short lived. Light retention, light lacing.

Aroma is so very light. Barely anything there. Cereal, or corn flakes. Maybe a touch of honey.

Taste is better. Very light. Very lightly toasted malt or corn. Light honey. No hops. Very watery.

Palate is very clean and watery. Very light. Very refreshing. It’s wet, very lightly crisp. Kinda slick going down.

Overall, hey this is pretty good. Yes, it’s so very light, but for what it is, it’s incredible. I could see myself buying this again. I would recommend it also.

Dos Equis XX Special Lager
This beer is what it is. A light, refreshing summer beer. Unlike most Mexican beers, it has absolutely no skunk smell and does not require a lime to make it drinkable. You can crush a case of these on a long lake weekend and wake up feeling human on Sunday morning. It has no funky aftertaste and the carbonation is mild compared to the Buds and Millers of the world, which lowers the chances of "beer reflux" when drinking large quantities. It also pairs well with summer snacks ala salsa, wings, pretzels, etc. The "Most Interesting Man In the World" got it right with this Mexican beer.

What more to add? Works as hot summer refreshment. Weak body, weak taste. But i guess it is just a summer in the sun refresher so it accomlishes it’s aim and goal.

Dos Equis XX Special Lager
Pours a very clear straw color. About half finger white head. Light head retention, like a film, very light lacing. Head replenishes itself as you drink. Good carbonation.

Aroma is light spicy hops. Sort of cooked vegetable smell. Has the typical Mexican beer smell.

Taste is pretty much Mexican beer. Roasted barley malt, some corn. I taste light spicy hops. No bitterness, lightly sweet. No skunk. Very clean.

Mouthfeel is light and watery. Very clean, very smooth and easy to drink. Crushable, very.

Overall, this is decent. It’s light, easy drinking, easy enjoyable beer. Goes well with food or friends. I’d recommend this for an alternative to Budweiser. I’d recommend it in general. I would absolutely buy this again if ever I wanted a Mexican brew.

33cl bottle from a Comarket, Tallinn. Pours clear pale golden with a small, white head. Hardly noticable grainy aroma with cooked vegetables and hints of grass. Watery with mild flavours of cooked vegetables and hardly anything else. Thin, watery and far from refreshing. Prefer sparkling water anytime. Some bitterness seems to be present - almost the only thing different from the water. Might be refreshing if the so called beer was close to freezing point and the outside temperatur was close to 40, but I still think I would have prefered some kind of water instead.

Bottle from ICA Maxi Eurostop outside of Örebro. Smell of canned corn and also surprisingly boozy. Very mild and watery taste, almost no beer flavour at all. Very thin body. Feels like I’m drinking carbonated water from a glas that previously contained beer.

Originally rated on 9/21/08. I thought i would prefer this one over the regular dos XX but this one wasnt very good. Aroma and flavor of old grain. Mouthfeel was a little thin. The body was a dark amber with a thin head that quickly disappated, no lace left on the glass. I probably wont try it again

I used to like this more than some of the other crappy Mexican lagers but I think I’d certainly rather have a Montejo or Leon these days. Good old reliably cheap can o junk. Some rusty copper aroma and mash malt.

Copenhagen 18/6 2016. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny. Two bug red X's leads the thoughts to porn flicks. Pours clear pale yellow with white head. Settles as small islands of foam sailing around. Pretty bland aroma. A little malty sweetness and light bitterness. Strong fizzy carbonation and watery palate. The flavor is perfectly unexciting. Quite diluted and watery. Medium sweetness followed by very light bitterness and a little saltiness. Run of the mill.

Cuerpo cuerpo, media a alta carbonatación. RESUMEN: Cerveza donde predominan los adjuntos.

Bohemia Weizen

I’ve been drinking Tecate for many years now just as a real simple, easy brew and have enjoyed it, especially during the warmer months, with a sea salt grinder and sometimes a quick squish of lime juice. Craft beer, it ain’t. But, for just having a few, it’ll do just fine.

Pours a slightly reddish, light brown color with a thin, off-white/tan head. It has a sweet biscuity aroma with some caramelized malt notes. The taste is a dry, biscuity malt without much residual sweetness (a plus in my book) without much hop presence. Not too bad.

Little on the nose. Maybe some caramel and malt, but not much aroma. Pours golden amber, light lacing. This is a macro-style amber lager; a touch of malt, a bit of caramelly roast, some light hopping, but an overall watery finish that leaves a hint of bitter. Meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I had it with nachos at a bar in New England. It was probably about as authentically Mexican as that bar, but it still did the trick. Better malt flavor than most lagers, and it didn’t really have too much of the skunk / sulfur flavor that sinks a lot of the macros.

Tecate
