3.2 Newmans Wolvers Ale Nice rich foam which tend to be slightly creamy. The aroma is very sparse, possibly because of the compact foam. It has slightly fruity malt tones like flavor and not much else. As bitter ale is very tasty because it just hops palette is theme of this beer. Light caramel notes from the malt contributes to a scene where several hops notes will have room. It has the flavor of a breath of fresh grain or grass, spices and perhaps a little syrup towards the end. It is well brewed and in fact surprisingly good. Thursday, September 17, 2015

2.5 Newmans Last Lion of Britain Beautiful and rich foam with lovely caramel flavor. The taste has a medium sweetness where caramel is the main theme. Conveniently drawn-out bitterness that retains its sweetness for a long time. However it is tasty. Thursday, September 17, 2015

1.2 Newmans Cave Bear Stout It has almost no foam and only slightly aroma of coffee. Not coffee smell familiar from freshly made coffee, but rather as interfering in a used coffee filter where unusually cheap and blend coffee has been used. The taste has a little character of roasted malt with those boring coffee notes as superstructure. In conclusion, the diluted and very anonymous. Wobble to the glass a little can provoke a decent foam, but it does not last long and only makes the appearance of this stout a service. In general, the very dull, and even a temperature increase helps it does not to any significant extent. Thursday, September 17, 2015

3.9 Newmans Continental Drift Red Rye IPA Cask conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury, Oxon. Amber to ruby with white head. Astringent hops on the nose, resinous, lip smacking, this transfers into dry bitterness, quite woody. The malty body also adds bitterness to a full on IPA, quite American in character. Very decent indeed. Sunday, January 27, 2013

3.3 Newmans Cave Bear Stout Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass. According to the website: "a vibrant Irish stout based upon original recipes developed within the heart of this Celtic island". POurs a dark black colour with a white head that disappears quick but leaves traces. Smells lovely and rich, dark and malty. Hints of coffee there too. Tastes quite watery in texture, but good. It’s dry and sharp with a hop bitterness on the finish, but from the start to the middle it’s balanced and smoothly malty. Overall a lovely beer, odd to have in a 330ml bottle because it seems quite quaffable. Saturday, January 5, 2013

2.5 Newmans Cave Bear Stout (33 cl bottle @ Nyborg Strand; BBD: January 2013) Pours a clear, dark brown with little, white head that dissipates quickly and some lace. Served slightly too cold but was handwarmed gradually in the glass. Aroma is a relatively faint, roasted malt. Watery texture, light body with soft carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Flavour is a mildly roasted and slightly dry bitterness with a little malt for balance. Light and sessionable but probably better suited for a Welch autumn than a Danish spring.
