Fearless Brewing Company Reviews

Fearless Loki Red Ale 2.6
Poured from can an amber color with red tinge. Sweetish aroma of caramel malt and ETOH. Taste is malty and a bit bitter however the alcohol is quite noticeable in this one. You might feel the hand of Loki spinning you just a bit if you drink this one rapidly. It is difficult to get a balanced beer with this much ETOH and I would call it out of balance. Itís a bit on the cheap malt liquor end of the scale. I would not buy a second one.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3
16oz can picked up a local store, pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head, aroma has a slight hop front end with a little bit of sweetness and malt showing as well, flavor has a sweeter front end with a little bit of hops in the finish, just ok

Fearless Old Fearless No. 1 3.7
On tap at the 2015 Portland Holiday Ale Fest. Colour...deep golden amber with a thin white head. Nose...caramel, toffee and freshly baked biscuits. Palate...dry, but sweet, with hearty notes of dark Scottish toffee and Wertherís toffee. Thereís some spent grain on the mid palate and then some oxidised flavour in the back. The overall body is a bit thin, but generally a nice beer.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.4
Canned from Capital Market. Hazy golden/amber in color. Lightly sweet nose with a good bit of hoppiness. A little bit of a sour note as well. Very hoppy and sweet. Full of flavor, but too sweet. Good hoppiness and pretty clean. Gets a little cloying. Not bad though.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.4
Can at Mugishutei. The viking label attracted me, sharp citrus/pine hop punch in the face with a lingering bitterness, sweet caramel and alcohol. Quite a hoppy one, maybe a bit too boozy and unrefined.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 3.3
Can. Pours a pretty cloudy amber color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose is a bit bready and caramely, with just a bit of grassy hop bitterness coming through. Taste is bitter and slightly harsh with a bit of caramel popping through. Feels quite bubbly.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.2
Can from Darbyís Liquor Store, Vancouver
Golden color, bright, clean, with medium sized head. Mild and generic aroma, soap and grains. Lean body, not too weak; simple malt profile, cereally accent, a bit bready, with strong bitterness, some woody resins, but not much hop quality.
Drinkable (single) IPA.

Fearless Scottish Ale 2.7
Can. Pours a hazy brownish color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose has some bread and caramel to it, and seems just overly malty. Taste is a bit sweet and definitely bready. Way too malty for my palate.

Fearless Peaches and Cream 1.8
Great fruit and cream flavors. Turns out thick and crisp at the same time. Could benefit from more alcohol content.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 3.8
One pint can. Reddish Amber, more burnt orange really, with a thick off white mattress of a head that retains magnificently. Massive malty nose, Malteasers, hazelnut, undertones of marmalade. The palate has all those sugary malts, a bit more of a nutty and bready character, ending with moderate bitterness. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 4
16 oz can. Aroma: nutty and malty, with hints of hazelnuts, burned caramel, and dirt. Taste/Palate: sweet and creamy; finishes bitter, with a long astringency.
Thursday, February 26, 2015

Fearless Loki Red Ale 3.2
Poured from a can. Aroma is slightly floral and sharp. Flavor is soapy at first, then bitter and astringent. Not my favorite.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 3.4
Canned from World Market. Deep amber/brown in color. Nose is dominated by a dry roasted maltiness. Roasty up front with a touch of breadiness. Nicely hopped finish.

Fearless Scottish Ale 2.8
Tallboy can shared at a tasting. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, toasted malt, mild vegetal notes. The taste is toffee, citrus, dark fruits. Medium bodied, mild lingering fruitiness.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 2.6
I get heavy citrusy and almost grassy hop notes with a heavy body malt aroma in this hazy yellow orangie brew with a small white head. For an imperial its rather light bodied and not sweet. There is hop flavor but no real bitterness. I do get the citrus hop flavor that kinda lingers and some of the sweet from the malt. Not a bad beer but not an imperial.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.4
A beer named after Thorís hammer or Masterchiefís armour should be far stronger that this. Pours a hazy straw with a frothy head. Aroma is of pine, citrus, mango, and cereal. Tastes of cereal, caramel, mango, citrus, and resin near the end. Very tropical. Has a chewy medium body with average carbonation. A little bit of a tongue coater. Not a bad beer but doesnít live up to the style.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 2.9
(Can) Hmm. Smells much better than it tastes. A very intense astringent, bitter aftertaste which is weird for the style. Flavor is a little thin. Iíd rather not drink this again.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.1
I hate trying to rate beers by category sometimes. Is this a good tasting beer? Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Is it a DIPA? Fuck no, not a chance! Itís a hazy golden yellow with a massive off-white head. Powerful pine and citrus hops, pineapple, cereal and caramel tickle the nose. A smooth, sweet and strong taste of tropical fruits covered in caramel with a resin aftertaste. Itís very low in the bitterness region with mid-soft carbonation and mild chewiness. A good beer, a terrible DIPA.

Fearless Peaches and Cream 3.2
Can. Pours hazy yellow with white head. Aroma is very peach, stone fruits, sweet, juicy, earthy. Taste is very fruity, a little dirty, floral, bitter finish. Overall, okay.

Fearless Peaches and Cream 3.2
16 oz can. Aroma: peaches and cream instant oatmeal, peach juice, and straw. Taste/Palate: starts sweet, crisp, and bubbly, and finishes creamy and slightly sour/bitter. Interesting that they got my childhood favorite instant oatmeal flavor dead on. Not a bad beer to have every once in awhile.

Fearless Peaches and Cream 4
Poured from a 16oz can. Lots of summery peach aroma! Taste is sweet and definitely peach infused. Overall the beer is light but it has a smooth and tasty base.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.4
473ml can. Medium gold colour, a bit of haze. Full and creamy white head with good sticky lace. Aroma has some honeyish sweetness, lots of caramel, some orange peels. Taste has caramel with orange peels. Zesty finish, a touch piney. Ok bitterness. A bit mellow for the style, but actually didnít think it was that bad.

Fearless Peaches and Cream 2.8
Draught at Collective on Tap, Woodinville, WA
Hazy blond color with creamy head. Peachy aroma, evident. Dry mouthfeel, with some peach flavor too, but it would require some sweetness to be more appreciated; low bitterness.
Easy but not bad.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 2.8
"Imperial only by their standards, but as its labeled as such, thatís how itíll get rated. The standard IPA - which Iíve not had - is only 5%, so this 6.9er is indeed stronger. Aroma is fairly fresh. After the initial blast of citrus and pine, some biscuit and caramel malt follow up. The flavor is definitely more malt driven than I like, and the floral qualities I look for in the style just arenít there. Not a bad beer, but pedestrian."

Fearless Scottish Ale 3.6
"Donít agree with the low scores. I tend to gravitate more towards the wee heavy strength scotch ales. While I like the lower abv ones, theyíre just not as good 9 times out of 10. While i canít speak to Fearlessí Wee Heavy, i can say this was a solid and quite enjoyable brew that was better significantly than their IIPA. Caramel, toffee, light peat and slightly fruity. Smooth and drinkable, yet complex and pretty tasty."

Fearless Peaches and Cream 3.4
16 oz can from Lifesource Natural Grocer in Salem. $2.49 Pours an ever so slightly hazy yellow with a nice sized slightly dirty white head. Head is thick and creamy in texture. Nice aromas o fresh peaches.its like you can actually smell the skin and pit..that separates this from more artificial creations..very good indeed. Taste however does not have that much peach..ist more smooth and cream of wheat..has a bit of peach pit in the end. Mouthfeel is fine and smooth with medium carbonation for the summer. Nice enough easy drink but could have been so much more judging by the aroma.

Fearless Scottish Ale 3
473 ml can. Pours a dark amber with full head. Aromas of sweet malts and toffee. Flavors of cereal, nuts, toasted malts and a bit of cardboard. Odd flavor for the aroma and somewhat flat.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.2
16oz can from truck. Pours a slightly hazed dark yellow color with a large white head. Aromas of light floral hops coupled with some light cracker malt. Taste is bitter and dry. Flavors of very bitter hops and dried flowers. Almost a hisbiscus flavor. Kind of one dimensional but at least itís very dry. High carb. Decent enough.

Fearless Loki Red Ale 3.6
473ml can pours a slightly hazy amber color with a 2 finger light beige head that retains quite well and reveals some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and herbs with some roasted notes. Taste is a bold herbal and citrus hop bitterness with an underlying grainy and caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with nice carbonation that tickles the palate nicely. A very nice red ale with a higher ABV with a well balanced nature. Recommended.

Fearless Scottish Ale 3
16 oz can purchased and consumed in Oregon. Poured deep amber; clear. Feel: Medium body and carbonation. Mildly bitter -- a bit high for style -- and gets to moderate in aftertaste. No smoke but perhaps a faint touch of peat. O: Light and hoppy for style. A very Americanized Scottish Ale.

Fearless Scottish Ale 3.2
473ml can, 5.3% abv on can. Orange pour with medium clarity. Creamy low sitting whitish cap up top. Wide, thick bands of lace in the glass. Nose is mild with caramel and grains. Taste has caramel, raisin, some nut and grain/light toasted malt. Creamy texture, pleasant mouthfeel and flow. Overall an enjoyable ale, soft and mild, I could easily drink a few pints of this in the right setting.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 3.2
Can. Pours a cloudy light gold with a small foamy head that fades to a bubbly ring. Aroma is musty, wet grass and some light citrus. Tastes a touch stale but not too bad. Very grassy, some citrus, some candy sweetness, and cereal grain. Carbonation stings a bit and so does the bitterness. Ok imperial IPA.

Fearless Strong Scotch Ale 2.3
Tap. I figured that without coming on here to see other scores first that I had got a fucky pint. Bubblegum, bubblegum in a glass, man did this ever taste like ass. A ruby-orange thin headed waste of time, money and tastebuds was all I got. Watery bubblegum, likely from contaminated lines and not the fault of beer. I was really looking forward to this as I love the style but sadly will not get to try it again for a long time due to location.

Fearless Mjolnir Imperial IPA 2.8
16 oz can. Pours dark orange with grassy aroma. A lot of bitter flavor all around. Not a whole lot of the great hop flavor that I love about IPAís. Bitter finish. Itís okay.
