Imperial Peach Cider On tap at Ellyn's Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL. as a 5 oz. serving to a flight glass, showing a clear & bright, golden color, with a nice array of rising bubbles, a fluffy layer of white froth that lingered with ribbony cling to the lacing. The nose was fruity peach & skins, some apple & peel, and compatible sweetness. Medium bodied, the taste was as the aroma notes, with decent effervescence, tartness & tanginess, more pronounced sweetness, noticeable alcohol participation, and a moderate skins & peel finish. cheap	3.3 Ace Pink Guava Cider OK, not sure abut how the word 'pink' got in this description but it's not on the can; it's just guava, I'll just go with it. I'll be careful to look for the word pink NeXT time I'm building a sixer of brews I never tasted. WTF. Oh well; first pop of the can I get a little off farmy apple nose. But, then I think maybe its some guava in there. The eye is a slight hazy pink, interesting. First taste is sweet & tart, yes, sweet tart candy fer sher. Quite often the guava in brews is so overwhelming, but this stuff is well balanced with its fruit infusion, quite acceptable. I'm liking this an its going down way too easy. Very good level of carbonation as well. Yes, this was a better than expected brew tasting experience. There, you have it. Pretty good stuff. Just a little worried about the unfermented sugar burnin my poor little tummy. . Monday, October 30, 2023

The nose introduced light tartness, then apple & skins, vinous notes, and a bit of oaky scent. Medium- bodied, the taste was similar notes, adding more noticeable sweetness, decent effervescence, tartness & tanginess, and rather hidden alcohol that still offered some comfortable warmth. cheap	3 Ace Mango Cider From a cheap can. Pour is a little more cloudy and a little more orange than most of Ace's ciders. I noted that the can says to gently roll the can before you pop it. Nose is off mango fruit. Taste? You know, I don't care for mango fruit brews but this one at least on the commencement is quite tasty and like-able. Yes, lots of cutting co2 within. Not bad, even thru the middle. As I near the finish, it still comes across as refreshing. Decent well behaved brew, better than expected, even if it does near the feel of a soda pop. cheap	2.7 Ace High! Blue can with clouds. Odd yeasty nose on this one, reminds me of a few hard cider home brews I've done. Clear pale yellow. First taste is mellow, not sweet. Quite dry and the initial taste leaves no idea of the alky content. A couple of swigs in I get a warming sensation all round. Good level of co2. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this stuff comes across rather well, its easily likeable. I haven't had many if any higher alky ciders and this stuff is not bad. Very quaffable but look out, an unsuspecting drinker may have a few of these and not recognize what is going to happen. Yea, the alky is so well hidden, unless you had the can in your hand, you'd never know this was over 4%. Yea, I wish I could have made a hard cider like this one. Wednesday, December 14, 2022

MicroGrog	1.4 Ace BlackJack Twenty-One 569ml/19.2oz odd-sized can from on of the Total Wines in Vegas 10oz glass back at the hotel. Soda pour, jelly cold light to medium gold. Stinky sulfur on the nose needs airing out. Eventually there's some old oak & veg. Taste is pretty dry, but not clean. It throws out odd yeast music, plastic/marzipan with fennel notes, veg, odd wood/barrel, super heavy sulfites. Cheap sugar boosted abv. Aspirin finish. Crispy soda carbonation, super boozy for it's single digits, harsh preservatives. Poor. Wednesday, September 14, 2022

Smell is mellow mango puree & white wine. Taste is bittersweet mango skin, forced malic acid tartness, lots of sulfites & their house blend of very flat dessert apples turned into wine. Dusty nose, minerally, banana, sulfites, airy, lacking. Sharp, acidic, bittersweets with some dessert apples, very minerally. Can't detect apples. Tastes like a guava mimosa. Guava, orange juice, a boozy spritzer to lighten it up. Juicy & lightly tart. Lightly sweet. Acid is kept in check. Just a bit of noticeable cider pokes through on the building dry finish. Thick slurry, but with decent carbonation. Easy abv. Very approachable, but back-sweetening is lazy. MicroGrog	3.8 Ace Space Bloody Orange 12oz clear single from Total Wine in Vegas. Short 10oz glass back @ the hotel. Lots of junk left at the bottom. Do I swirl? Still sort of hazy without. Looks like a mix of beer & Orange Fanta. Short, lacy head. Mild bitter orange nose, similar to a blood orange Pellegrino soda, just not as intense. Taste is malic tart, mixed flavors of orange & white wine. Surprisingly bitter & lingering orange pith. Apples are plenty tannic, but overall just background noise as the orange is really bold, mostly unsweet & adult. Carbonation is a little low, slight slickness but not from sugar. ABV is on point. Smell is white sugar & mellow berry compote. Taste is mostly raspberry upfront, with some decent tart apple in the background. Tolerably sweet, soda texture, but lacking any complexity. Meh.
