Ommegang Game of Thrones #6 - Seven Kingdoms
Citrusy hops and spicy yeast dominated the nose and flavor. Nice body, dry finish. Very flavorful. Just wish these were smaller format instead of $10 singles.

Ommegang Glimmerglass Saison
Over-carbonated cloudy copper beer with a bright crackling white head that fills the entire glass. I could not pour the entirety of the beer into my glass because half of it was filled with foam. Nose of lemon, white wine vinegar, and white pepper. Flavor is bright and fresh with layers of lemongrass, pepper, and spice finished with a light pungent bitterness. Crisply effervescent, this is a fine saison.

Not in any way complicated this pours amber red with a short lasting beige head. Not too carbonated, the taste is sour cherries and not much else. Perfect though for a hot summer day.

Pours a pale to medium clear amber with a thin white ring. Light aroma of Belgian spices. Typical flavors of most other Ommegang products and a somewhat dry finish. Not as good as I was hoping for. OK but not great.

With Z, pours an amber cherry red with an ephemeral beige head. Nose is through and through cherries, fruity and not running over with any hard thick sweetness. Taste is pleasant tart cherry, with ’ wood ’ and a very subdued buried sweetness. Finishes on the pleasant tart cherry wood notes . Nice . quaff score 8 / 10

Ommegang 2015 Belgian Independence Day Dry-Hopped Tripel
Draught at Worthy Kitchen, 5/21/16.
Strong clarity throughout the quite light brass body. Good carbonation creates a small, white head with lasting power.
Strong esters in the nose show elegant nectarine, very light peach and little/no banana. White and black pepper phenols are very moderate and tons of malt comes through. Biscuit, cracker, and brown bread with apple and strawberry-like esters emerging on the end. Nice leathery, musty cellar notes and no sign of the hops at this point. No alcohol or flaw.
Mostly engaging carbonation creates a pretty good impression of a Belgian bottle conditioning, about as good as it gets on draught. Light bread and bits and pieces of honey and dry caramel sweetness dot the palate, as big fruity esters sit on the finish, with more honey and leathery cellar notes. Has aged very gracefully. With the hops no longer apparent and the yeast really taking over, the obvious strong execution that this has been brewed with is exposed. Nice to see a Belgian Tripel without any adjuncts/American hops, etc....

Pours hazy golden orange with a white head. The aroma has stone fruit, rustic saison, caramel and heavy funky fruity hops with some spice. It has a fairly full body with lots of soft carbonation. The taste has hennepin saison notes but there is a spicy and green herbal hop presence along with a minty brightness. Nice variant.

Sampled in a large tulip glass, poured from a bottle, this ale was a dark red in the glass with some darker red and brown hue at the edge of the glass, and the pour gave a one finger or so off-white, light tan cover, the nose had cherry fruit, sour and tart fruit notes with a little rhubarb and sour grape, a little grain and there was some cherry sweetness, the flavors were cherry, light malt, sour and tart fruit that resembled grape and other fruit, a little grain, and some cherry sweetness, the finish had a light to less than medium sour-tart fruit bitterness, the mouth feel was light to less than medium, it was a little creamy and had some sour-tartness that gave some dryness to the mouth, the carbonation was soft to average, a beer with cherry fruit nose and flavor.

Ommegang Rosetta
Bottle. Pours a dark red with brown highlights and a high, fine-grained, off-pink lacy head. Nose is dark cherries, lactic sourness, acetic acid, vanilla, powdered sugar, and lemon. Crisp and sour up front, but with a pastry-like body and softness behind it; it has more substance than some sour beers. There’s a definite, pleasant sweetness and heaviness to it. The cherries are subtle, but strong enough to be tasted. The finish turns dry and tannic, cleaning up some of the voluptuousness of the beer. Good.

Ommegang Shadow Brewer
Pours opaque coffee-sable with a thick and lasting tan head. Aroma presents roast malt, coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses and berry notes. Flavor delivers all that the aroma promises, adding more dark fruit/berry character and a bit of licorice. Hoppy bitterness rears its head in the smoky finish. Mouthfeel features firm body and good fizz. Shadow the brewer!

Ommegang Tripel Perfection
May 24, 2016; bomber purchased at the brewery. Heady pour & outstanding aroma. Remarkably peppery, spicy & bitter. Love the Ommegang brews (and tripels) as a rule, but the astringency of this one may take some getting used to. Perhaps because I’d just finished a Unibroue La Fin du Monde before cracking this bottle. Would definitely give this another go (and a re-rate).

Ommegang Glimmerglass Saison
Drank from a large tulip, poured from a bottle, this beer was a medium orange/burnt orange with some yellow in the glass and it was pretty hazy, the pour presented a large, fluffy white cover that was lasting, it left nice spots and partial rings of lacing on the side of the glass, I got the peppercorn when I first popped the cap, the aromas were orange and lemon fruit, faint pear and floral notes, light malt with a touch of bread, some funk and light grass hops, very faint pepper, and some malt and fruit sweetness, it had flavors of lemon, pear and orange, light malt, a little pepper and sweetness, the finish had a gentle bitterness with some citrus and bite (from the carbonation), the mouth feel was light and animated with carbonation that was a bit much, the nose was pretty good and a proper start, the flavor less so because of the carbonation, the carbonation was a bit much, and sort of got in the way of enjoying the flavors, toning down the carbonation would help, I think the pepper spice bite and carbonation bite together was a bit much.

Ommegang Game of Thrones #6 - Seven Kingdoms
Crisp hazy golden coloured body with a nice rich off-white head, about three centimetres tall. Aroma of light grass, wheat, coriander seed, some fresh hops that show flowers and perfume. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavours up front with more of a saison-y kick showing some good hop flavours as well, but nothing horribly strong. Aftertaste has a lot of effervescence from the yeast with a nice banana and grassy flavour that shows through, with a rather dry finish. Overall, a nice beer that shows the dry grassy flavours nicely without having too much complexity with sugars and malt. I sampled this 75 cL caged and corked bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 14-April-2016 for US$7,99 sampled in the Shenandoah Mountains on 14-May-2016.

Ommegang Glimmerglass Saison
Golden and hazy beer with a thick white head leaving lacing down the glass. High carbonation gives almost champagne-like stream of bubbles up the glass. Aroma is pepper, cloves, pear. Taste starts off mildly malty with some pear notes, then transitions to a spicy pepperiness transitioning seamlessly into spicy hops. Stays dry throughout and finishes bone dry. Medium-light bodied with a refreshing carbonation. Spices stay out of the way as complements to the yeast and hop flavors. Overall a great saison.

This is a wonderful beer. Poured into a chalice. Appearance is reddish - orange with a nice fluffy cream head that remains throughout. Aroma is a bouquet of some spice, maybe cloves or coriander, and orange peel or fruit with some slightly malty tones as well. The taste is slightly spicy with a mild yeast and malt flavor. There is definitely some fruit in the taste as well, maybe orange but not overpowering. Very little alcohol in the aroma and taste but the feel is creamy and carbonated. Sweet with a slightly dry finish. Very easy to drink. Makes a great session beer.

This saison almost resembles a witbier with slightly more yeasty notes and some mild lemon peel or citrus in the aroma. It pours hazy straw with a creamy head that slowly dissipates. Looks gorgeous in a chalice. The carbonation feels great and adds to the fresh taste of this beer. There’s a bit of a grassy finish but not in a bad way. Alcohol is 7.7% yet it’s barely discernible. Nice refreshing beer for the summer.
