Stronger IPA smell of sweeeeeeeet BO! Yummy. Bright lemony coloring on this one. Peppery initial flavor and I swear this has a tad of heat in there. Slight co2 fer sure. Yes, the coffee comes across like peppery heat, amazing. A little better than a typical IPA fer sure. Odd that heat comes from the coffee, must be some mole or cayenne in there baby.

July 18, 2015. Bottle, bottled October 20, 2014, at Quebec tasting, thanks for sharing!
Light hazy dark golden with a small white head. Aroma fresh, ripe juicy strawberries, lemon, light funky barnyard character, hints of wood. Taste is light sweet with lots of ripe strawberries, lemon acidity, dry oak notes, soft funky notes with a slight dry and sour finish with more strawberries. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation.
Best strawberry beer I’ve tried, as with the other Le Roar the fruit is very fresh and juicy.

750 ml bottle from hopsnat shared with the group. Pours a hazy orange golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice tart fruitiness, merlot grapes, vinous, growing more sour with warming, lactic sour acidity, wood, hay, some funk, this continued to get better as I drank it, I am impressed with the base and the variations I’ve had.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 - Thank You!. Poured hazy reddish purple color with a large frothy grape colored head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy tart fruit and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with tingly smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy sour & tart fruit flavor with a medium to heavy tart fruit & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout lambic.

Bullfrog Le Roar Grrrz Druiven 4.1
750 ml bottle shared by alexsdad06 - thanks again, Brad! Pours a hazy rose color with a small off-white head that settles into a thin ring. Like the base, it has a sawdusty character along with really nice vinous merlot grapes throughout, with mild spice, celery salt, lemon and lime, florals, straw, funk, and minderals. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, tart, funky mouthfeel. Really nice. Both of these Le Roars have exceeded my expectations so far.

750ml bottle, thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Hazy amber red color. Thin off-white bubbly head. Some loose bits of lace. Awesome red grape, vinous, oak, some creme. Awesome cheesy creme to it, actually. Satisfying moderate sour taste, moderate sweet. Mild bitter, nice mild dryness. Medium to bigger body. Mild slick texture. Lighter carbonation. Really tasty, fun, satisfying, balanced sour.

Bullfrog Jong Bruin Kriek Cafe 3.2
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured an orange-nut brown color with a small foamy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with a bit of hot pepper. The flavor was tart and sour with hot pepper, vague fruits and a hint of coffee. Long finish. medium body but a touch flat. Odd but interesting.

750mL bottle, sent from Beerman6686 (thanks man!), pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out white vinegar, some light funk, and a touch of acid -- very inauthentic. Flavour is much more convincing, with barnyard funk, white vinegar, and some light acidic notes. Not quite like an authentic gueuze, but it’s quite complex and not like a typical American sour. Really great attempt.

Bottle thanks to mrebeks for sharing. Aroma is pulpy plum and cherries with light brett and yogurt. Taste brings a lot more barnyard/brett to go along with the plums and cherries. Light funkiness and light lemon. Very solid but a little more brett than I like.

750 ml bottle to teku (bottled 3/4/2013; shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a slightly hazy fuller orange with foamy eggshell head. Smells good too; tart and funky with notes of citrus zest, oak, and a touch of pineapple alongside a mild Pine Sol presence. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced and complex. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and fairly acidic. Good, not great.

Bullfrog Old Gold 3
On tap sample from HO1K. Pours a cloudy deep amber with a thin off white ring. Aroma is very tart and sour with a hint of malt whiskey. Flavor is a strong sour tartness that hits the sides of your tongue. The finish hits the back of your mouth with the strange taste of sour dill pickles. Interesting combination. I enjoyed the sourness of the fruity flavor and I like sour pickles but not so much when they are mixed together. At least it wasn’t watered down or weak. Bold flavors with this one.

75CL Bottle acquired in a trade. Bottled 7/22/2013 and it’s bottle 120 of 353. I think I gave up a 37.5CL Blabaer for this bottle shortly after release. Split 3 ways at fridge temp. Bottle stored upright for many months.

A - Gorgeous color. Pink reddish color a 1 finger head that fades to a think ring. It looks absolutely gorgeous.

S - it smells pretty darn good. Distinct Saint Lamvinus aroma. Grapes, cheese, funk, a hint of metallic with wine barrel. Really smells amazing.

T - Taste is juicy, sweet, a ton of wine barrel. Really juicy like straight up grape must, raspberry juice and apples. Chalky and covers the teeth with sour candies but the barrel notes and berry is awesome. There’s a bit of copper penny and mold flavor

M - This is far more dense than traditional lambic and the beer doesn’t have a blended taste to it and carbonation is very light.

O - So final thoughts? Well, I drink a lot o fruit lambic and this is a dense, overly acidic acid bomb with out the refinements of a Kriek, Merlot, Framboise lambic. . However, for an american sour, it’s really really really great.

750 ml bottle. Number 120/353. Bottled 7/22/2013. A nice clear pink color with an off white head that stayed the whole snifter. Aroma is cherry sins, mild oak, funky yeast.

The sour is pretty long lasting, lightly acidic and just slightly metallic. But really, really nice.

Bullfrog Old Gold Kriek Vieux Foudre 2.9
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a red-caramel color with a small foamy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with a vague fruity note. The flavor was tart and sour with vinegar, a strong fruity presence but not specifically identifiable as cherry and a note of Pez. Very long finish that turns a bit medicinal. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

hazy gold, thin white ring, oily cap. Light plum-acid nose, faint yeast and moderate acetic, peppery but fairly juicy fruit bordering on apricot given the acid. Sweeter front palate than the other Le Roar b3, more married than others between the acid and fruit, plenty of plum juice and skin--very whole-fruit experience, bright, expressive, and seedy. Sparkling body keeps it playful.

750 mL bottle. Purple body. Big head. Smells of bourbon. Blueberry. Bretty and earthy aroma. Vanilla too. Tastes of berries. Bourbon cuts into the sweetness. Earthy finish. Light tartness. High carbonation. Medium body. Amazed at how well the blueberry has survived in this. And that it isn’t incredibly sour.

750 ml bottle shared by alexsdad06 - thanks again, Brad! Pours a hazy peach gold with a small white head. Aroma of sawdust, herbal and grassy hops, mild spice, lots of funk, and a good slate of fruit, mostly lemon. The flavor hits the same notes, but fruitier and more sour, even though the sourness isn’t puckering or intense. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, mildly tart, herbal, and funky mouthfeel. Really satisfying sour that I was surprised by.

Bullfrog Le Roar Grrrz Mélange 4.3
Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. From Frank, thanks! Beautiful clear bright red with burgundy-ish notes and a small pinkish head leaving little lacing. Aroma is extremely fruity - mostly cherries - and backed by a moderate but delighful 3F like funk, cinnamon, mild berries presence and floral notes. Taste is extremely well balanced between the important fruitiness, a rather strong herbal presence and the moderate acidity. There’s also nice funk, mineral notes, cinnamon, mild peppery notes and a bit of oak. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Fruity and dry finish. An amazing super fruity but also quite complex because of the funk and minerality Bullfrog sour that is as delicate as the best Belgian lambics. Lovely stuff!

Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. From Frank, thanks! Clear bright reddish with a small white pink-ish head, good retention. Aroma has a similar profile to Grrrz Blueberry we had just before with a good fruity presence - this time berries - along some interesting funk, mineral notes and an interesting herbal touch. Taste is moderately acidic - never too much - combined to a nice moderate funk, berries, mineral notes, herbal presence and winey notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Winey mouthfeel. Mildly peppery finish. Another pretty Bullfrog sour with the delicate funk of a Belgian lambic combined a bit of american sour acidity. Nice berries features. Lovely!

Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. From Frank, thanks! Hazy pinkish-purple with a small persistent white-ish head leaving little lacing. Taste is moderately acidic with a pretty accurate blueberry presence, moderate funk, bright mineral notes and yogurt. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Tannic and vinous mouthfeel. Mineral finish. Really tasty blueberry sour which is an hybrid of what is made in Belgium and in america. Nice stuff again!

Bullfrog Le Roar Grrrz Plum 4.4
Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. Thanks to Frank for this one! Hazy glowing orangey-golden with a medium persistent white head leacing some lacing. Aroma is lovely with the main flavors being juicy plums and great 3-Fonteinen like funk along yogurt, winey notes, brettanomyces, floral notes... bright and complex. Taste doesn’t disappoint and is in line with aroma with a bright juicy plum presence, lovely funk, mineral notes, a mild residual sugar presence that likely come from the fruits and add a nice layer of flavor, yogurt again and winey notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Winey mouthfeel. Juicy and fruity finish. Lovely and complex while also super easy drinking. Nice juiciness. More Belgian than American in profile. This is a great beer and probably my favorite plum sour (belgian lambics included). Wow!

Pours a clear purple with a high white head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of blueberries, yogurt and acid. Taste is not too acidic surprisingly and offers nice blueberries and a lightly cheesy funk. All in finesse. Body is medium, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is nicely tannic and vinous. Overall a really nice blueberry sour, a standout in a superior tasting.

Bullfrog Le Roar Grrrz Plum 4.4
Many thanks to tom0101 for sharing that bottle! Pours a cloudy golden with a thin white head that leaves some lacing. Nose is quite simply of plums, even more impressive than Tilquin’s Quetsche and that’s saying something. Taste is of candied or maybe jammy plums with a sharp acidity that causes a light pucker. Nice oak. Body is medium, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel a strangely perfect mix between vinous and juicy. Overall a really impressive plums sour, well worth the hype!
