3.3 Woodlands Midnight Stout Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival on the 3rd October 2014. Cask, gravity dispense. Dull black in colour with a thin tan head. Short note of roast grain on the malty nose. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt complex gives chewy malt grains with notes of dark chocolate and chicory evident. Short damp earthy flavour present in the hop resins giving a brief bitterness to the aftertaste. Finish is rather dry with roast grains, leather and oak cask notes in the palate. An ok session stout but one of the weaker examples at the festival though. Wednesday, October 15, 2014

3.7 Woodlands Red Squirrel Hand-pulled pint in The Swan, Woore: during a North Shropshire Pub Crawl on 28 Sep 2013. Pours a lovely dark red colour with an off-white head that hung around. The nose and taste were of dark berries and malty molasses, add woody and nutty to the malty flavours and you can see why I really took to this. Considering it is only 3.8% ABV it packs a good punch and I’ll certainly have another if our paths cross again. Monday, September 30, 2013

2.9 Woodlands IPA On tap. Ordered this thinking it was a local craft brew IPA which it is not. This is an english ale from england I now know and for that it is fairly typical and true to the style. Nothing great though especially if you are ready for an IPA which, again, this is not. Sunday, September 15, 2013
