Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is light malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a rich roasted malt hop liqourice bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. More a Porter than a Stout for me. A little light and watery but nicely satisfying all the same.

Toll End Little Devil Stout
Cask conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham. Black with thick tan head. This is on of the heaviest beers on the palate I have ever come across in cask. Thick, black, tarry, heavy with liquorice flavours, there must be a shed full of Deeply roasted malts in this. Camp Coffee flavours late on. Interesting.

Toll End William Perry
Cask@lychgatetavern, Wolverhampton. Amber beer with medium creamy head. A little malt aroma. Taste was peat smoke, reminded me of a Lagavulin 16 year old. It seems this may have been an errant barrel as I don’t remember it tasting like this before nor does it match the other reviews. It has been suggested it could be the yeast producing off flavours. However it tasted very good despite this.

Cask, gravity at Banbury Beer Festival 08-05-10 I hadn’t realised that this was a mild until I ordered it and was even more surprised when it poured a golden colour, only the Timothy Taylors offering readily springs to mind as being a golden mild. Easy drinking beer, touch thin for the abv, I thought that the abv was 5.0% but note that it was listed in the programme as 5.7%. A little hoppy in the mouth but not so much, clean, crisp and a very tempered take on a mild at this strength which I suppose is a good thing. A6 A4 F7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Toll End Ockers Ale
Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton (whooooooooooooooo are we?). Brie rind, pale haze, licks of oak; strong notes of wood and apple tartness. Fluffy and full of condition. One of those beers where you just don’t know. Had to swap my pint of Spinning Dog for this because Pops MacDrunkeasy couldn’t handle it. Drie Fonteinen shandy? So wrong it’s right.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford Spring Beer Fest 09. Gold amber with white head. Overbearingly full of toffee caramel flavours, butterscotch that we thought it had come from a confectionery counte, as paul put it, not sure if this came from the Waggon or the Horse. Dull, sweet beer, not good.
