Springfield Quencher in the Rye
Draft at the brewpub in Springfield, Missouri. Poured into a unique glass that is somewhere between a Nonic and a Willebecher. The pour is a clear golden with smallish white head that leaves behind nice coating lace. The aroma is bright citrus, tropical fruit hop and a the spicy rye. The taste is the citrus hop floral, fresh and bright, a bit of herbal and finished with mild spice rye. Nice integration of flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and a clean herbal finish. Solid.

Springfield Mudhouse Stout
Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roastnwitha good amount of coffee mixed in. Flavor is again decent mix of roasted malt and coffee. The coffee is not overpowering so those not high on coffee flavor would probably enjoy this. A well made stout with a decent mix of malt and coffee.

Springfield Hop Lobster
Pour is a red-ish with a small white head. Aroms has a definate hop presence with some heavy sweet malt. Flavor is a soild hop but also a oily malt that turns out to be not as sweet as I thought it would be. Finish is a decent malt and hop combo without one overpowering the other too much. Solid hoppy amber.

Springfield Paulís Pale Ale
Pour is a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is a big sweet malt with a very minor hop. Flavor is again more sweet malt and even less hops in the flavor. Finish is bitter but also watery. This was not a top quality beer. Almost no hop presence and way too sweet.

Springfield Heart of Darkness Dunkel
GABF 2015. Dark brown. Well roasted. I am not picking up the lager yeast I expected. Solid, dry grain and malt. Very drinkable, and the malt is not burned or overly roasted where so many dunkels seems to blur the line with schwarzbier.

Pours deep translucent golden with an off white head. Mild citrusy hop aroma. Flavor of citrus zest and pale malts with some mild grassy notes. Mild hoppy finish, mixed with flavors of biscuit and european malts. Not all that bad. A clean APA pale with a slight european twist.

Springfield Hop Lobster
Pours a amber, and dare I say it, red color. It is quite pretty. About one finger ivory color head. Doesnít last long, but excellent lacing.

Aroma is very hoppy. Some breadiness. Not a lot to say about the aroma. Itís hoppy....

Taste is hoppy, but man, itís good. Itís very hoppy, but not real bitter. Hop flavors are crazy in there; citrus, floral, piney. But itís not really bitter, itís not really sweet. Itís somewhat similar to an APA. Hard to desribe the taste. Bready, maybe some toffee.

Mouthfeel is good. Itís drinkable. Smooth and dry. Medium body. Finishes slightly bitter.

Overall, Iím not super fond of red ales but I could totally drink this anytime. This is well done.

Springfield Paulís Pale Ale
Pours a amber orange color. About one finger head. Some retention. Nice lacing.

Aroma is grassy hops. A little citrusy. A little roasted malt. A little nutty, and a little fruity. Overall, itís not that great. Itís mostly hoppy and citrusy, that other stuff is subtle and you have to dig around to find it.

Taste is a little hop forward. Yeah, the malts are making a strong show, but hops win out. Itís close to the hop profile of itís far east brother. So as for taste-hops, citrus, and maybe some pine.

Mouthfeel is quite dry. Medium bodied. Itís sweet to start, but the bitterness kicks in late, and lingers. It is an interesting mouthfeel.

Overall, I find this a little boring. I would drink it again, but itís not one that I would say, íHey, I havenít had that in a while!í and then buy it. If I were offered this or a Sam Adams whatever, I would probably take the Sam Adams. If I were offered this or a Bud Light, Iíd probably take this.

Bottle pours deep amber hue with a small soapy eggshell head with sparse lacing. Nose is earthy minerals I guess are hops. Smells good actually but not as hop forward as I would like. Big earthy bitterness here lots of toasted malt. Like this but seems like a clone beer from the Rogue Hoppy Amber they usedto make. Lots of woody hops earthy and slightly metallic finish. All in all a solid brew for the style.

For a beer that has a lot thrown in, I was disappointed that there was no aroma. Good dark brown color but the palate was way too light. Flavors werenít bad with a mix of roasted malt and chipotle peppers. Just needed more substance.

Clear, reddish-brown pour with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet yet slightly roasted, kind of reminds me of root beer. It has a medium body with slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste follows the aroma with mild sweetness the quickly fades to dry, roasted finish.

Bottle at home in CT - big thanks to ma and sis for picking this up during their travels. Pours perfectly clear yellow-gold with a fading, foamy white head. The aroma has straight biscuity pale malts, some cereal, with accents of floral hops. Light sweet flavor, a little sugary, with some more cereal, dirty hay, faint notes of plastic, tangerine, lemon rind. Light bodied with average carbonation. OK balance on the finish, some further cereal and grains, bready malts, lemon rind, tangerine, grass. An OK pils. Slightly scattered, but OK.
