DarkElf	3.8 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter 05-Aug-17 (22-oz bottle with maroon wax: Purchased 14-Mar-07 for $7.55 at Liquid Solutions in Tigard, OR) This bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Porter pours a dark brown body and half an inch of tan head. The nose is earthy and mushroomy, with coconut, savory sauce, and prune. Flavors are bigtime toasted coconut easily the most prominent, followed by prune, vanilla, fudge, chocolate, maple, and some tobacco. It's full bodied but not heavy, with medium carbonation, a touch of acidity, and a smooth palate. Overall, this is really good for a 10 year old beer. Bourbon and barrel are quite heavy, but that's probably what's helped the beer cellar so well. Tuesday, February 19, 2019

zoucrew102	4.2 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Bomber, 2007 vintage. Wonderful bourbon aroma with notes of chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, and oak. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head that has little retention or lacing. Starts with rich bourbon flavor with excellent chocolate and dark fruit sweetness. Finishes very smooth with vanilla and oak flavors as well as more bourbon and a hint of booze. This definitely aged very well and is an excellent brew! Sunday, December 18, 2016

maxwelldeux	3.7 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate lighter brown head on there. Nose is very heavy on the bourbon with some wood mixed in, but none of the standard porter aromas. jgb9348	4.1 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Batch #8? (Says #8 at the centre of the picture), listed at 10,6% ABV. Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish lighter brown head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, rye, grain, rich chocolatre, roasted malt, pit fruits, raisins and somehow even more sugars and depth - very nice and flavourful. Full-bodied; Rich bourbon flavours coupled with vanilla, oak, cedar, grain and roasted malt, but this one shows more like a barley wine with big hits of alcohol and pit fruits also accompanied with some raisins and figs. Aftertaste shows a very boozy finish with the bourbon and oak taking centre stage. Overall, a very nice and rich beer with a lot of flavour and depth but perhaps not enough complexity in the style department - nice but after you had a few sips, it didn’t change too much. That said, perhaps the aging helped/aided to that? I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 27-September-2013 for US$14,55 sampled at home in Washington on the opposite end of the country on 26-October-2014. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet but not cloying with a wood tannin drying following and ethanol finish. Overall this is an enjoyable brew. Lothore	4.2 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter A- Pours a deep, dark brown hue with a gigantic, uncontrollable chestnut head which leaves tons of lacing on the way down. S- Lots of bourbon, roasted malts, creamy, caramel, hints of an underlying floral character. T- Very full, starts with lots of silky smooth caramel and malt sweetness that moves into a mellow bourbon character and is topped off by an aftertaste of roasted malt. M- Thick with low carbonation. DuffMan	3.9 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Bottle. Very dark molasses brown with a thick light brown head. Early lace, decent retention for a barrel aged beer. Aroma is very sweet, with lots of bourbon and oak, underlying chocolate. Flavour showcases the barrel well, and in good balance with chocolate malts, some dark caramel, medium bitterness. ansermadide	4 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Mmmm... all of this awesomeness starts with a deep brown color and a light brown head. Looks great, and a little cloudy. Its aroma is soft and a little woody, but dominated by bourbon and a sweet, light roast. You get a plant-like whaft in the nose as it goes down the throat. Wow, what a nice mouth feel. It’s a little thin, but has a perfect roast presence, is easy and alcoholic, but nicely covered by the bourbon. brokensail	3 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter A: The beer pours a dark brown color with a small khaki colored head. S: Definitely a bit of bourbon with only a mild vanilla aroma. Plenty of oak with just as much roasted malt to go along with it. There’s some hints of dark chocolate and coffee there, too. T: The flavor is somewhat watery, though you can certainly still taste the bourbon. Lightly sweet with some toffee malt flavors and hints of plums. neepsntatties	4.1 Oregon Trail Bourbon Barrel Porter Found a bottle of this in my cellar. I don’t know what year it was brewed but it was a "#5". I suspect it’s a year or two old. Colour... jet black and very frothy! Nose... oak and Bourbon with lots of ethanol! Palate... semi viscous, sappy, bittersweet chocolate, loads of Bourbon (but not so much as to be volatile in the sinuses or lording over the other flavours), chocolate sirop, and hints of lactose on the end.
