Medium to medium-full body with a light sweetness and a medium bitterness. The flavor is malty and starts with bread, toasted bread, dried fruits, some raisins, toffee, caramel and some nuts. Becomes more toasted towards the finish. Finishes with a medium hoppy bitterness and toasted notes. Overall not fully in balance. Aroma: 7 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Palate: 4 Overall: 12

Flavor of sweet roasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, coconut, some dark fruits, some sweetened coffee and light burnt notes. Finishes with a light residual roasty malt presence, a light roasty bitterness and some noticeable alcohol. Overall well balanced but a little tame. Medium sweet flavour with big torched wood character, more ash, raisins, cocoa. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, ashy roast, burnt pine, baking cocoa. Not bad overall.

Flavor of sweet roasted malt and lots of coffee, sweetened coffee, toffee, fudge, raisins, notes of darker fruits and light burnt notes. From tap at Craft Beer Festival Thun 2018, at 4.8% ABV. Nearly clear wine-red with a creamy pink head - looks marvelous. Superb aroma of ripe raspberries, sweet raspberries, sweet candied cherries, fruit gum, hints of sweet balsamic vinegar - lovely smell. Light ot medium body with a light to medium acidity and a light tartness. The flavor is again full of raspberries (not as ripe and sweet as in the smell), some black currant, unripe gooseberries, some yogurt. Finishes dry, sour with more raspberries. Not overly complex, the intense and lovely raspberry flavors overpowers most of the other aromas, but very good! Aroma: 8 Appearance: 5 Taste: 7 Palate: 3 Overall: 15

August 2017 - Tasting at Leighton's. Huge thanks! Bottle, as 'Strättligen Herrenmattmoos', 6.2%. Gushy on opening. Hazy matte orange, still with a foamy off-white head that leaves dotted lacing. Aroma is apple pie, airy. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is white pepper, papery, dusty. Plain but OK. Not much to it. (5-4-5-3-13=3.0)

The taste is rich roasted malt, toasty, charred wood, ashy, dirt, liquorice and cocoa with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Comes across a bit hot and ashy. Fair double IPA.
