A pretty standard tasting Stout, which I actually appreciate. It's just a really traditional Stout which gets everything right.

Ratings disappear so here we are? From bottle in PDX, with a beautiful portrait of the hero herself Emma Goldman. Solid red ale in that style of CbP, a bit sweet and funky malt but well balanced.

Another Captured by Porches beer..back from the dead. Brewed at Barley Sprout , Gresham Bought at Lifesource natural grocer in Salem OR $3.99..500ml bottle. Strangely attractive amber coloured pour.quite hazy with a large handsome creamy/rocky creme coloured head. Same weird aroma as the ESB..vegetal..boiled broccolli..sigh Taste is a little better but its pretty muddled bitter, vegetable, tea..all over the place..muddy..like an Organic beer from the late 90s. Palate is medium..low carbonation and a little sticky in the end. Another bad beer..why come back after the years?

50ml bottle from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR. I thought this brewer was long gone but here it is..brewed at Barley Sprout in Gfresham. Nice traditional looking pour..chesnut brown body ( clear) with a gorgeous frothy beige head. Nice malty/chocolate aromas..some nutiness in there also. Taste not really what i expected for an ESB.. all the correct aspects are there but there is a rather artificial carmamal/toffee sweetness..yes i know ESBs are meant to hav that..but this just does not seem natural. Mouth feel is fine..medium and smooth. Weird everything is fine except the taste..the most important thing. Sad

(Bottle) A little different in that the malt taste is *very* sweet (although the flavor is good), but it has a super long drawn-out, lingering bitter aftertaste. I don’t think it’s bad but that bitterness just doesn’t work because A) it doesn’t balance the sweetness at all, and B) for an hour afterwards your mouth feels like you’ve been chewing on orange peels.

Pours orange-amber with a small white head. Pleasant herbal, slightly spicy hop aroma brings to mind summit hops. Flavor is at first spicy and bitter, quickly followed by plenty of malt, ending with a lingering bitterness. Flavor comes and goes quickly, and the finish is a bit watery but retains some mildly caustic bitterness. The aroma and taste, while clearly sticking to the NW IPA style, are pretty unique. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big old swingtop. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A nose of lemons and biscuit. The flavor is marmalade, some tropical fruits, certainly papaya, lemons, low bitterness, grains. OK. Nothing standouts but no major flaws. Finishes bitter and tropical.

Rebecca’s Divine Wit - Yet another middling homebrew from CBP. Honestly, I have no idea how these guys stay in business. Distinctive bottle I guess. Big gross floaters all over the bottle. The aroma is mildly infected and stale. Can taste a little bit of spice but otherwise this is a watery and flavorless beer.

Bottle at the Beaverton Farmers Market - Pours a cloudy amber with a fizzy head. You can actually hear it fizz, like a Pepsi when you pour it into a glass really fast. Citrus aroma like a Belgian. Tastes a bit like a Belgian, too. Not at all what I would expect a Rye beer to taste like. OK beer. I’ll gladly finish this bottle, but I won’t rush out to buy another one.

Shared from a big swing-top bottle into a mini schooner glass. Thanks Greg and Joe. I had high hopes, but this was a bomb unfortunately. Definitely stale and probably infected. It poured a hazy golden light amber, persistent white foam, lots of suspended floaties. Bad, bitter, vegetal taste, like broccoli stew. Too bad. I’ve heard their stuff is great fresh from the bus with a slice of pizza at the pumpkin patch on the island, so I’d definitely give ’em another try.

One liter swingtop. I bought this a while ago, should have drank it fresh. Oh well, such is life.

Massive, creamy head on a warm amber medium body. Fruit, caramel, grass, citrus, and alcohol in the nose. Maybe just a touch catty? Moderate carbonation. Lots of flavor, citrus, fruit, toffee, fading into pine.

Bomber with a swingtop. Picked up in some grocery store in Portland. Consumed Oct 26, 2011. I don’t know why, but I had high hopes for this. I like the design, the beer looked great (hazy orange with a good white head), but it sort of tasted off (not very citrusy, not very piney). It sort of had the taste of a beer that was sitting in the store too long or the swingtop had come open, and yet this one was fresh and lots of pop when I opened it. Unfortunate.

Bottle:   (Schwarz Weizen)   Deep brown, burnt caramel edges, moderate to thin sudsy off-white head, sticky lacing.   Uh oh, sour nose right off the bat.   Uh, sour taste right up front.   Backside has a bit of roasted maltiness/wheatiness, but otherwise its just sour.   Would like to retry this one, on draught if possible.   Not sure I would want to get another bottle and risk it.

Bottle:   Really dirty pale caramel, moderate to large frothy off-white head, very nice lacing.   Seems like freshly squeezed hops on the nose.   A little sweet tea and citrus peel as well.   Citrusy hoppy start, not too bright, but strong.   Smooth, like its cask or something.   Carbonation is low, but the body is still nice.   There is a slight hint of unripened peach... yeah, its peach tea (subtle) with citrus and hop aspects.   Pretty tasty.   Slight astringency on the backside, but its minor.   Hoppy yet not biting, and has a slight fruity aspect to it too.   I can dig it!
