Hog Haus Pale Rider
Keg @ Hog Haus. As ’pale ale’. Light amber with a small head. Basically all HH beers look the same. Runny caramel, banana, apples and pear. Taste is pretty similar. Green apple and banana. Sickly sweet and a bit oily. Strong carbonation. Poor.

Keg @ Hog Haus. Hazy deep gold with a small head. Very strong blueberry muffin aroma. Sort of artificial. Taste is more blueberry. Quite sweet. Refined sugary and wheat. Light body, strong carbonation. Boring.

Keg @ Hog Haus. Cloudy gold with a medium white head. Looks like a hefe. Strong honeyed cereal, banana dessert, some apple fruit leather. Crazy sweet. Taste is similar. Super sugary bread. Grains. Porridge and brown sugar. Pretty ruddy and undefined. Medium body, soft carbonation. Poor.

[Tap] Very dark brown in color with a small head. Nose is of cocoa and bitter roasted malts. Taste includes caramel, molasses, bitter grain husks, earthy peat and milk chocolate. Mildly astringent. Light bitterness. Light to average palate. Tasting notes from 11/2011.

[Tap] Bright amber color is accented by a small white foam head. Floral hops mingle with citrus in the aroma. The taste includes more of a light resinous pine flavor. Overall, the hoppiness here is fleeting and the bitterness ends abruptly. Odd lemon drop flavors in the finish. Tasting notes from 11/2011.

[Tap] Amber colored pour with very little head. Aroma is of dusty grains and caramel. Mostly caramel in the flavor notes. Lighter honey and fruit notes as well. Low carbonation and slick mouthfeel. It’s OK. Tasting notes from 11/2011.

[Tap] Hazy golden pour with a small but dense cap of white head. Nose is of banana, wheat malts and light bubblegum. Tastes of wheat, clove, yeast spice, banana and citrus. Highly carbonated. Sweet finish. The body was a little light. Tasting notes from 11/2011.

Growler thanks to my friend Mourty: Poured a thick coffee black with a finger creamy light brown head. Strong hops aroma up front with some subtle malts. Nice juicy hops blast that awakens the tongue, with balanced malts.

Hog Haus Pumpkin Ale
On tap at the brewpub in Fayetteville, AR. Pours a clear, deeper copper colored body with a finger-width, creamy, beige-tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is pumpkin pie spices and vanilla with a lightly sweetened biscuit and caramel malt backing. Touches of pumpkin in there too. Flavor is similar. Pumpkin pie spices with a good amount of vanilla balanced nicely with a lightly sweetened biscuit and caramel malt backing as well as a light pumpkin note. Finishes clean, spiced, lightly bitter, and lightly sweetened before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium, smooth body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid pumpkin ale. Spicy with a good amount of vanilla, but balanced nicely. Very enjoyable.

Aroma is orange florals and dull earth, a light caramel, some graininess, and touches of toffee. Flavor is grassy and somewhat grainy with a light caramel sweetness, a good amount of dull citrus florals, and a light earth. Finishes moderately bitter and dry with some earth and a light toffee note. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent ESB. Well hopped and bitter, but balanced and easy drinking. Not bad.

Aroma is grainy with some lemon-grass and a touch of pils sweetness. Flavor is similar. Grainy pils malts with a light sweetness and a balanced lemon-grass. Finishes clean, dry, and lightly bitter with some grass and a few lemon notes. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light, crisp body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty well done Helles. Light, crisp, and refreshing with a balanced lemon-grass bitterness and grainy pils malt backing. Not bad.

On tap at the brewpub in Fayetteville, AR. Pours a black body with an inch thick, dense and creamy, darker brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is roasty with a nice dark chocolate backing as well as touches of dark fruit, vanilla, coffee, and earthy hops. Flavor is similar. Roasty with a slight coffee note and a solid chocolate malt backing. Touches of vanilla and dark fruits as this finishes dry and roasty with a bit of a char note alongside a light earthy bitterness and balanced dark chocolate. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid stout. Roasty, lightly bitter and dry with a balanced chocolate. Nice beer.

Aroma is grapefruit citruses with some pines, grass, and a light floral note. A bit of a caramel sweetness with touches of bread and a few resins as well. Flavor is similar. Bigger grapefruit citruses with a light piney resin and grass up front before a light caramel sweetness and touch of breadiness comes in. A few floral notes towards the end and a trace of toast as this finishes dry and moderately bitter before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid IPA. Nothing special, but well hopped and nicely balanced to keep this enjoyable. Nice beer.

Nicely balanced with a solid grassy bitterness and light toasty sweetness.

On tap at the brewpub in Fayetteville, AR. Pours a lightly clouded pale yellow colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is big blueberries with a light biscuity sweetness, touches of wheat, and a hint of grass. Very fresh smelling fruit to this. Flavor is thin and watery wheats, a good amount of blueberry, some crackers, and a very light spice. Finishes thin and fruity before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, the aroma was pretty solid, but the flavor was thin and lacking much besides a watery blueberry. The fruit didn’t taste artificial though, which was nice.

Lightly sweetened, somewhat grainy wheats with a light banana, clove spice, and lemon citrus. A bit bready in the end as this finishes clean and lightly dry with a touch of grass. Shorter aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad hefe. Refreshing and balanced, just nothing special.

Aroma is lightly sweetened, somewhat buttery pils malts with traces of fruit and grass. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened and somewhat buttery pils malts with a very light grass and hints of fruit. Finishes thin with no real aftertaste and a slight graininess. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an inoffensive Kölsch, but thin and lacking any real character. Eh...
