Covington Brewhouse Reviews

Covington Kolsch 2.2
Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a straw color with a slight haze and has a small white head. Aroma has a bit of fruitiness, along with some grains. Taste is unassuming and lager-like at first, but then the finish of cooked vegetables (specifically asparagus) ruins everything. Not recommended.

Covington Kolsch 2.7
Aroma: like a fruity Budweiser, which is not good; Appearance; clear, light straw with small white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: slightly odd, though pretty crisp; lager-like; Palate: light bodied with short finish; Overall: not as bad as feared, but will probably not buy again.

Covington Electric Porter 2.2
bottle @ Double Shoppe / Ocean Springs MS --- Aroma of malt, molasses, and coffee. Way huge 6" tan head that takes a while to subside, dark ruby brown color, only a few lace spots. Sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Taste is malt with dry black coffee and some prune. Compared to the other raters, I have to wonder about the freshness of this bottle. No chocolate. Really heavy in the stomach. Not satisfying.

Covington Bayou Bock 2.4
Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale amber with a white head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, and apple juice. Similar flavor, with some toasted malt added. Rather sweet. Watery with very mild bitterness. Forgettable.

Covington Bayou Bock 2.4
Aroma: extreme fruitiness and maltiness; caramel and apple coming through; Appearance: just like apple juice, including the lack of head and any lacing; Taste: kind of similar to a vienna lager with more malts and fruit; cloyingly sweet and unpleasant; Palate: light bodied with long, sweet finish; Overall: pretty awful; would not buy again.

Bottle. Clear dull amber with a short large-bubbled head. Aroma impression is pale malt syrup / saccharine, rotting apple, cosmetics, paper. Medium bodied, sweet, syrupy, sharp, low carbonation with noticeable dirtiness in the mouth. Lots of stewed fruit, agave, honey, and noticeable fermentation defects (solvent and ethanol).

Happy hour draft carried up to the lounge where the kids were eating snacks instead of dinner; parenting win? Anyway about the beer: clear caramel color with active carbonation. Yeasty aroma with some sweetness too. Pretty nice flavor overall with a good malt and hop balance. Nice for a house beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Heiner Oktoberfestbier 3.1
I liked it. Not the best Marzen out there but a solid product. A bit thin but a good color and good nice taste. It's definitely a lighter Oktoberfest type of Lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Covington Strawberry Ale 3.3
bottle shared that poured a cloudy yellow with a white head that doesn’t last very long. the aroma is a definite cream ale with strawberry puree or juice added. the flavor is more of the same and I understand this is served on draft with nitro. which to me would make it more like a strawberry cream lifesaver. not bad and not great just kind of a middle of the road cream ale with strawberries.

Covington Rock & Roll Farmhouse Ale 2.8
Had a bit of promise, with some fruity esters, bits of spice and yeast. However, there was some unwanted sourness in the finish that ruined for me.

Covington Pontchartrain Pilsner 2.6
Couldn’t help but grab a mix a six down in FL. Pours a hazed dull yellow, minimal white head. Smell is grassy, grains, mild earthy hops. Taste is eh. Odd palate as it is a bit fuller than expected. Old saaz hops, spoiled lemon, grains, herbal. Just doesn’t come together.

Covington Anonymous IPA 3.5
Medium orange-brown pour with a large off-white head. The aroma is pretty nice. I get some big, juicy orange notes from the hops as well as some brown sugar. Smells a bit like a barleywine. The flavor is similar. The orange and floral notes from the hops are complemented by some sticky resin and a bit of brown sugar. Medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not bad at all.

Covington Spring Pale Ale 4.6
Covington Spring Ale has a medium, creamy, cream-colored head, a murky, orange-gold appearance, and splotchy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of strong, cream cheese, cream ale yeast, ever-so-slight citrus, sweet bread, and mild hop resin. Taste is of those elements, alongside low-profile cream ale yeast bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Covington Spring Ale finishes semi-wet and highly drinkable. Overall, even with the cream ale aspects, it is NOT a cream ale, nor does it necessarily taste or smell like one. Zea Category 5 American Pale Ale 3
Zea Category 5 American Pale Ale has a thin, quickly-dying, egg shell head, no lacing, and a clear, amber appearance, with some bubbles and noticeable tiny sediment, throughout. Aroma is of sweet bread, caramel candy, funky yeast, and cream cheese cake icing. Flavor is the same, with low-to-moderate hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is medium, and Zea Category 5 finishes semi-wet and easy drinking. More of a cream ale than a pale ale, for sure. RJT

Covington Pontchartrain Pilsner 3
Cochon Butcher, NOLA bottle: pours a kind of murked yellow with small white head that leaves no lace. Aroma is flowers grass and that typical lager smell. Taste is lightly bitter with a hint of sweetness. Easy drinking and refreshing with some crispness.

Covington Electric Porter 3.4
Pours opaque black with a tan head and a chocolate, dark fruit nose. Moderately-carbonated with a light, thin mouthfeel followed by a dark chocolate, dark roast coffee finish.

Covington Electric Porter 3.3
From a 12 oz. bottle. A very earthy, malty smell with a real light roasted coffee hint. A shiny wet jet black in color with a rich fuzzy medium tan head. The earthiness really comes out in the taste to an almost ground dirtiness that has a light sweetness from the malt but a faint bitterness from the coffee. Almost too smooth on the palate as the feeling and taste goes away fast. Nothing overly electric about this Porter but a good solid drink.

Covington Electric Porter 3.2
Bottle@ trailer. Nice chocolatey, dark roast coffee, earthy dirt aromas. Smooth medium body. Dry dark chocolate flavors with earthy coffee, mineral dirt----not bad.
