Wigram Czar Imperial Russian Stout 4.1
Pwoah a lot going on here for a very reasonable 8.5%. Creamy, dense head - very trappist like. Good retention. Pitch Dark. A bit light on the nose, but big on the toasty, dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Doesnít try to do too much and succeeds in making an almost session able style impy.

Wigram Bavarian Pilsner 3.2
Restrained grassy aroma in a light gold pour. Pleasant hop forward balance to start but has little body after that and the finish isnít as crisp and clean as Iíd like. Not the best local (NZ) take on the style.

Wigram Czar Imperial Russian Stout 4.4
Pitch black color. Light brown head. Dark chocolate, licorice, molasses and dark fruit in the nose. Great depth. Mouth lacks acidity, but is pungent with hops and deep rich malt character, molasses, cotton candy, tons and tons of dark fruit, sherry, cotton candy and truffles. Seriously outstanding palate, but lacks a lot of roasted character. Seriously seems like barrel aged, there is so much going on here. This beer is ripe for barrel aging. Lingering dark chocolate, truffles, dark fruit and cherries in the finish. Insane complexity.

Wigram Munchner Dunkel 4
Pours a clear, deep, dark red with brown, long lasting head. Aromas of caramel, burnt toast, and an earthy mustyness. Rich caramel and bready flavours with a roasty, not quite coffee-like finish. Full bodied.

Wigram Czar Imperial Russian Stout 3.6
Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark mahogany with a frothy light tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is smoky roasted malt, light creamy caramel. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a roasty, slightly watery liqourice, coffee, light caramel palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Wigram Propeller Lager 3.4
Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is yeast, light zesty citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a citrus, resin hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Iím quite surprised at the relatively low ratings. This tap version certainly deserves a higher score. Itís not your ordinary lager.

The flavour is moderate sweet and a hint of yeasty sourness with a dry, big fruit wood resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a light bubbly mouthfeel. I wasnít so impressed initially but it grew on me a little.

Wigram Bavarian Pilsner 2.8
Pours a near clear gold with medium white head out of a green bottle (why?!). No light struck character as I believe this to have come straight from the brewery. Light earthy aroma with some minerals and spicy hops. Bready and yeasty flavour. Some floral hops come in behind. Highly carbonated and medium bodied. The mouthfeel is thick and chewy.

Quirky, caramel malt dominated beer, with a mild resin hop aroma. Will try again in winter

Earthy floral aroma and dark copper colour are enticing - and not let down by the taste. A decidedly different one from the standard Pale Ale - but one that is equally enjoyable. Another great brew from the folks at Wigram.

Wigram Munchner Dunkel 3.9
A pretty beer, cola coloured with a tan head that is persistent and firm, really strong chocolate aroma dominates though. Bitter wash over the palate that ends towards sweetness, but you can pic the hops and malt in this. Itís better, by a long way, than I thought it would be,

Wigram C-130 Strong Ale 4
This "Clydesdale of the Glass" is burnished copper with a rocky white head, excellent clarity and some good sparkle. Unlike the C-130, which I have flown in countless times, it is a good looking critter. The aroma is driven by its maltiness: stewed apricot, glazed fruit pastry and gentle caramels. The aroma may be a little charmer, but the flavour is very forward, reminding you that there are hops here as well as delicious, balanced malts. There is a little bit of resinous redwood on top of those malt characters earlier described and a tangy tangerine bitterness that carries the flavour on and on. I really, really wish there ws more of this.

Wigram Winfly Pilsner 3.3
Golden yellow with a covering of white head. Gentle aromas of black pepper, golden grain, locquot and poached pears with flavours similar to boot. Thereís a nice twinge of bitterness and some tangy lemon and mandarin to finish. Quaffable stuff.

Astro Kiwi Korona Beer 2.9
I wish I took a photo before ripping the lid off, but such was my thirst. This is what the beer targets - slaking the thirst without offending, or possibly even bypassing the taste buds altogether. Appears very much in the style of a Mexican Cerveza of prominence with mild grainy aromas and flavours. Excellent clarity and carbonation with a fairly persistent white head that lasted well down the glass as the body disappeared down my gullet. Supposed to be light on flavour, I supposed it would be if I had tried it at the recommended 2-4 degrees centigrade. At just below room temperature it had a mildly sweet flavour and popcorn-like tastes. Will do what it says on the tine, this one.

Wigram Czar Imperial Russian Stout 3.9
Dark chocolate aroma on opening, great look pour with a lovely head, but neither of them made it past a few moments, There is a burst of alcohol that underlies this, and that pushes it to the sour side of balanced against the sweetness. But it is lovely with hints of fruits, toasted malts, and is thoroughly nice drop. cheers.

Wigram Harvard Honey Ale 1.8
The dark, caramel colour was a surprise and the aroma of honey is pleasant but doesn't allow amy other bouquet through. In the mouth too bitter. Not sure I can finish the bottle.

Wigram Ginger Jerry 4
I quite like this. reminds me of good times at the ChCh Arts Centre supping on a Ginger Tom at the Dux. Just as good as the good ole Ginger Tom, very close. Loses its head real quick which makes it look flat in the glass, but has a good ginger bite and I do get the honey and lemon coming through. Nice.

An enjoyable brew that offers a different take on the usual for this style (English hops). The subdued hoppiness is nicely complemented by the darker maltiness.

Quite a light style of ginger beer, where the ginger does not completely dominate the beer. Very thin on the palate.

Wigram Captain Cook Spruce Beer 3.5
I ended up liking this more than I should. Itís really a palate shocker. Pine spruce, short delivery, but sweet of honey and a finish of smoked something or other. Great persistent head and a lacing to die for. But! itís a beer that youíd tire of in a hurry itís just too sweet to the detriment of anything else that is in this, and that a shame. As a Spice beer this is pretty good. As a beer that you get for sailing half way around the world....... no so much

Wigram Tornado Strong Ale 3.2
Dark brass colour, almost clear. Aroma is sweet, peaches and bruised apples with some pleasant yeastiness. Taste is quite rich, but finally ends with a dry finish. I was surprised at the clear alcohol flavour coming through. This is a strong beer, but at 6.6 the alcohol is more noticeable than some local DIPAs. Not bad, but the the hops come in too late and do not balance the richness of this been enough for me.

Wigram Munchner Dunkel 3.6
Keg - Brew, Tauranga. Poured a chestnut brown with a small, slowly dissipating and lacing off-white to beige head. Chocolate, coffee, roasty, nutty malts, bread dough, toffee and burnt toast characters. Some plummy dark fruit notes too. Medium body with good palate consistency throughout and a dry, lingering malt bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation keeps the palate texture lively and fresh. Crisp, clean and balanced malt-forward goodness and bittersweet balance.

Massive unstable looking head bubbling in all directions. A tart under current. Big bubble gum phenyls with not so much banana. Maybe a liitle uncouth and unsophisticated.

Wigram Propeller Lager 2.7
Poured and Shared with Rock_Buffalo and Shark_Pants, a transparent gold with a short, disappearing head, a mild aroma of honey and hops with what Iíll call a bakery taste - yes, it took me straight back to a bakery so suggest breads, malts, slight hops and a touch of something sweet, barely discernible. Easy on the palate, light body. Interesting but simple, maybe I expected more? Will have to try more!

Wigram Mustang Pale Ale 3.9
A lovely summer beer. Good rich malty nose with hop resin characters. The palate is a re-affirmation, good bitterness that match the caramel notes on the palate. Floral hoppy, almost sweet finish to make you want another gulp. A solidly awesome beer to finish of a hard days shit shovelling.

Wigram Captain Cook Spruce Beer 3.1
Pours amber with creamy off white head. Smells like the outdoors. Tastes quite sweet, with a slight spiciness, not very bitter though. Bit of a thin palate, quite dry. I feel that it would go well with salted pork and hard tack, the way Capt. Cookís men had it.

Bottle from Plonk (best before Nov 2012). Clear copper/gold, quickly dissipating head, tasted a bit flat, biscuity malt, mild bitterness, not a lot else happening. Past itís best but ok despite that.

Aroma Roasty, toasty malts, unripe plums, coffee, chocolate, even a slight smokiness on first sniff. Taste is the same, but thereís a lot going on that I canít put my finger on after just a single bottle. Iím definitely gonna hafta drink this again.

Wigram Belgian Pale Ale 3.2
Ill say this, it doesít taste like a belgian, and doesnít taste like a pale ale. It pours a dark caramel amber color. Like a Disaronno brown. Doesnít leave much of a head. I poured this beer expecting a a belgian yeasty smell or a hoppy scent, I got neither, but was instead greeted with this banana bready caramel aroma which I quite liked, The flavor was much the same. If they marketed this as such I think it would get some better attention.

Aroma upon opening was rotting vegetation which thankfully quickly subsided and left a hop-free malt and cardboard aroma. The actual taste and mouthfeel were pretty good, but the whole experience was marred by the aromas.
