(from old notes) - Aroma : Medium toffee maltiness, some autumnal red fruits with a distinct yeasty note reminiscent of wet dog! Taste : Body on the thin side of medium. Quite dry and bitter throughout, but only distinct flavours are a light toffee malt and yeastiness. Very average

(from old notes) - Aroma : Roasted chocolate malt, splash of stewed coffee, hints of sourish dark fruits with a light eathy note. Taste : Medium dry roasty bitter chocolate maltiness throughout. A touch of coffee, with an odd slightly tart/sour fruity note, which detracted from the taste!

Cask conditioned at The Kings Head, Norwich. Brown with cream head. There is a sweet fruitiness to this with a boiled candy sweet note. Fuller roasted malts but they are hidden in the sweetness. Just average for me.

Cask conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury, Oxon. Dark brown with cream head. There is a silky chocolate note right from the start, milky but then with an odd, slightly tart fruity note, which is just a touch off putting. Reasonable palate, it’s fine.

Cask @ New Oxford, Salford. Nearly black with a thin off-white head. Includes very dark malts, but you wouldn’t class this as a regular stout as it’s only mildly sweet in its character. There’s hardly any roasted malts. Decent enough though.

Tap from the Barrel Drop. No great aroma just a whiff of stewed filter coffee. A dark ale with thin tan head. Tastes of roasted malts with some sweetness. But overall disappointing and dull.

Cask at the Golden Lion, Newmarket. Dark gold/copper. Caramel and golden syrup aroma. Taste is sweet, super-malty, slighly treacly. British as you like. Palate has a bit more thickness than these ales often have. A tasty if unassuming ale.

Nice red, loose head. Gentle sweetish grainy aroma. Mild palate. Bitterness low. Is this a red, or a mild? Dome dryness. Rather pleasant, and an easy sup.

Nice easy drink beer. Low on taste and doesn’t leave much behind on the palate. Pleasant but not memorable. Brownish orange appearance with no real head when poured.

This one was bought as a Father’s Day gift. I pored it into an English pint and has a medium dark color with a one finger tan head. The aroma is a nice sweet candy sugar with nodes of hops and citrus. It’s flavour is a little citrus with a slight bitter finish. It flows across the palate smooth with a slight tingle of carbonation. Overall a very good beer from this relatively new brewery I will be buying more.

Cask - The Kings Head, Norwich. A clear, darkish amber coloured beer with a small, loose & fading white head on the pour. Nutty, caramel, boiled sweets/malts & mid fruits on the aroma. More caramel, boiled sweets & grain to taste with an ever-so-delicate touch of roasty, toasty malts on the back end. Light to medium body, soft mouthfeel & a soft, low intensity finish. A rather inconspicuous brown bitter when all is said & done.

Hazy amber beer, small white head. Softish palate, a tad dry. Little hop on the nose. Light soft malt blends well with tame and somewhat watery hops. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall a clean bitter but hard to get enthusiastic about.

Slightly hazy amber brown beer. Slightly soft and dry palate. Well balanced softish malt segues seamlessly in to mild hop. Mild minerals. A decent example of this normally tedious style!

Stale chocolate cake aroma. Brown. Stodgy, even sticky, in the mouth, very small hint of mushrooms. Finish is stale coffee, according to Phil. Not on top form.

Cask - Kings Head, Norwich. Bubbly though relatively thick and creamy, lasting off-white head, leaving a uniform lace atop a clear amber-mid brown body. Tangy red fruits, some nuttiness and yeast aromas. Almond on the tongue, yeast with a lightly sharp tangy and a light fruit skin and dryish English hop bitterness. Softish palate, light to medium body with a lingering tangy, fruit skin finish. Maybe not in the best condition, which is surprsing for the KH.

Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #27 at Cambridge Winter Beer Festival on 21 January 2011. Amber colour. More malt than hops. Fruity and a little doughy. Sweetish with a slightly under-brewed feel. Condition not that great.

Cask - The Rose Inn, Norwich. Poured with a bubbly off-white head atop a clear amber body. Quite nutty in general with some caramel, something almost chocolatey and a toasty note to the aroma. Toasty with some hoppy grassiness on the tongue with a lingering nutty sweet aftertaste. A soft, light bodied bitter with a delicate though apparent finish. A solid, slightly stronger session offering.

Cask - Kings Head, Norwich. Amber with a lasting though small, bubbly off-white head. Toasty mid fruit aromas. Yeast, some mid fruit sweetness again on the tongue and then a hefty dose of almond kicks in finishing with a lingering dry nutty bitterness. Light to medium body, soft carbonation medium length finish.
