Raasted Bryghus Reviews

Raasted Imperial Stout 3.8
Bottle, mht. 31-08-2008. Black with a beige head. Aroma of lime, chocolate, coffee and licorice - surprised about the lime. Porter/citrus water flashbacks. I like that, as this was how I grew up to be a beer drinker tasting it in my childhood. Flavour is the exact same thing with sweetness and a roasted bitter finish. Aging did nothing bad to this imo.

Raasted Barleywine 3.2
Bottle, bottled 15.01.06 (January 15). First rating in my new appartment - trying to empty out the old cellar. Pours brown with an off white head. Malty sweet aroma with notes of plum and grapes along with roasted barley, bread and a little cocoa. Rather vinous actually. Sweet flavour with cocoa notes, roasted malt and finishing in a rather solid bitterness. I remembered this differently, so agingbhas done something to either the beer or me.

Raasted Trippel 4.7
A Belgian inspired triple which on closer acquaintance turns out to be a gem that surpasses the Belgian tripels all over. It rises with a great white foam, and the smell is marked by malt, light hop and a fantastic aroma of citrus coriander. The taste is characterized by a pleasant syrupy sweetness that goes over the malt to a discreet hoppy flavor where a touch of orange part. It has a really nice lace and a little taste of alcohol which seems pleasant warming. I strongly recommend that it is poured slowly, as it has many yeast residues at the bottom of the bottle. Without doubt the best Danish triple I’ve ever tasted, and as mentioned before also a triple that actually want to compete with the Belgian.

Raasted Juleøl 4.2
Absolutely beautiful reddish-brown beer with a very nice light brown foam that slowly sinking, but retains a nice head. Nice malty aroma boosts expectations, as the flavor also contains some distress, coriander, chocolate and fruit. It has a fatty mouth feeling and great bulkiness. Sweet touch of caramel mixed with mild chocolate, slightly spicy flavor and a rich fruitiness.

Raasted Imperial Wheat Stout 3.1
It has a large attractive and nougat colored foam, and the lovely aroma of wheat malt and light tones of coffee. The taste is rich and good of English licorice with some coffee in the similar. Mouth feeling is creamy and very full-bodied and leaves a pleasant light hoppy membrane in the mouth. Lovely wheat stout does not work too flashy. The alcohol is not tasted.

Raasted Double Imperial Stout 4.1
Vintage 2008. 250mL bottle, pours a motor oil black with a tiny head. Nose brings out lots of soy sauce, oxidation, dark fruits and liqueur. Flavour is actually pretty good for being so old, with soy sauce, some dark cocoa, dark fruits and a touch of roast. Very well-balanced and complex. Surprisingly nice for such age and oxidation.

Raasted Trippel 2.6
Bottle thanks to Jesper from Randers Bryghus. From around 2007! Pours a slightly hazy amber with no head what so ever. Aroma is really sweet with syrup, raisins and prunes. Taste is extremely sweet with syruppy dried fruity sweetness. Oily body with no carb. Funny, but not very good.

Raasted Pilsner 2009- 3.2
Lasting frothy white head atop a medium carbonation Amber body. Nose of a hayfield and corn meal. Flavour is grassy and light, mild bready malt towards the finish. A pretty straightforward pils yet I like mine crisper. The has, however, aged VERY well in my cellar for over a year. I’m impressed. I’d happily enjoy this after an hour mowing the lawn.

Raasted Trippel 1.4
Flaske, 375 ml. BBD 23/11/10. Ok, her er en alkoholtung satan, der har mistet pusten. Helt flad, mørk ravfarvet, uden skum. Dufter af medicinskab og dessertvin, af kandis og indkogt sirup. Noter af overmodne æbler. Klistrende i munden.

Raasted Barleywine 2.7
2006 vintage. 250mL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a deep dark yeasty mahogany with a tiny beige head. Aroma is bizarre, with smoky tobacco, caramel malt, and dirty yeast – bleh. Flavour is really bizarre, with milk chocolate and smoky tobacco upfront. Quite yeasty and dirty – probably past its prime, but still decent. Bizarre stuff.

Raasted Oak Aged Imperial Stout 3.6
Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Fin for trading me this one, 24/10/14. Light black with a decent tan head that collapses to a swirl and edgeing. Nose is bitter roast, earthy, light smoke, dark toffee, chocolate. Taste comprises dark toffee, charr, chocolate, molasses, woody rinse, mellow dark fruits. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Decent enough impy, held up fairly well.

Raasted Oak Aged Imperial Stout 3.3
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours black-brown with a frothy beige head. Lots of tar in the nose, dried fruits, raisins. Medium sweet flavor with loads of charred wood, baking cocoa, ash, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with lots and lots of aggressive charred malts, more baking cocoa, scorched earth, lasting ash. Novel but the ash and char is a but dominant.

Raasted Juleøl 3.8
Christmas beer (which is also what the name litterally means) brewed in Belgium by a Danish brewery. Five malt types and two kinds of sugar have been used here. Off-white, coarse head, copper colour with brownish hue, clear. Aroma of toffee, caramel, cinnamon, kahlua, coriander, cider, pear, sage. Resinous palate, very caramelly with lots of overripe fruits, yeasty bitterishness, spicy accents, hoppy finish. Apparently also used as a component of a beer called Hoppy Christmas. Nice winter warmer, almost like a full barley wine.
