2 Pivovarnya Lobanova Big Bar 500ml bottle from Bliznetsy in Moscow. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized lasting white head. Aroma is corn, sweet malt, and skunkiness. Taste is light sweet, watery, a little bit of cardboard. Wednesday, August 8, 2018

1.7 Pivovarnya Lobanova Abakansky Standart Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Alexey. Clear golden. Grainy aroma with malt, corn. Sweetish flavor, grainy, with a honey-ish note, corn, and a slightly bitterish finish with a bit of metal. Light-bodied. Sunday, January 22, 2017

1.8 Pivovarnya Lobanova Bochkovoe Svetloe Yellow-gold, moderately stable head. But no lacing like the No 1. Aroma of very sweet diacetyl, like condensed milk. Soft palate. Yeasty, a bit, with a tacky palate. But has a house character--the floral hops just like the No 1 that redeem the beer. Too bad about the diacetyl flaws, that if eliminated would make for a decent beer. Thursday, August 18, 2011

1.9 Pivovarnya Lobanova No. 1 Svetloe Banke Klassicheskoe Bottle. Bright clear gold, decent head leaves a little lace. The color could use a lot of work, though. The aroma has a unique hop character, smells surprisingly good. But is slightly sour. Oily palate. Diacetyl, sweet, and funky but still interesting. Thursday, August 18, 2011

2.1 Pivovarnya Lobanova Zhigulyovskoe Dull tan colour like a proper Zhigulyovskoye. Lots of foam - not proper. The aroma is mostly just grainy and sour. There’s a slight hop, some sweet grainy malt. OK macrobrew. Well-balanced, maybe with a little acidity in the finish. Monday, August 15, 2011

3.3 Pivovarnya Lobanova Rizhskoe Pivo Golden colour with a thin head. This has a herbal hop and fat, tangy malt aroma, and of course diacetyl, as expected from this brewery. Soft body and gentle malts, with a hint of herbal hops. The diacetyl is more understated in this beer than in the others from this brewery. Decent, if light, pilsner. Monday, August 15, 2011

1.7 Pivovarnya Lobanova Bochkovoe Svetloe Golden colour. The head lasts. Lots of butter but compared to their No. 1 the hops are a bit mintier and more subtle. Palate is pretty buttery with some malts. Monday, August 15, 2011

1.5 Pivovarnya Lobanova No. 1 Svetloe Banke Klassicheskoe Golden colour with some lasting head. Sort of herbal continental hop aroma. Wet hay. Heavy, buttery with more hay-like hop. Decent bitterness. Doesn’t take long for the diacetyl to become overwhelming, however. Monday, August 15, 2011

2.9 Pivovarnya Lobanova Abakanskoe Vesyoloye Klassicheskoe Bottled. Golden colour, minimal head. Grassy, lightly minerally and salty. Light bodied with less pronounced malt character then in their Rizhskoe, but the same pilsnerish dryness, hoppiness. Salty bitter finish. Very drinkable. Sunday, October 16, 2005

3.2 Pivovarnya Lobanova Rizhskoe Pivo Bottled. Golden colour, minimal head. Buttery malt aroma. Dryish andlight bodied. Soapy flowery hops adds pleasure. Salty finish. The bitterness might be a little sharp, otherwise it’s a pretty good pilsener. Sunday, October 16, 2005
