3.3 Murray's Whale Ale 330ml bottle BB 1220 yellow to orangey-yellow and hazy with sediment. Head dissipates quickly. Very faint aroma of cloves with a hint of lemonade and minimal hops. Tart rather than bitter - more like a berliner weisse than a hefeweizen. Moderate carbonation with a fine bead. Clean and refreshing. A nice one for summer, but I wonder what a fresher bottle would be like. Monday, November 2, 2020

3.7 Murray's XPA Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Citrusy aroma with a hint of spice. 4 Murray's Anniversary Ale 9 Another bottle from the Local Taphouse's Coronatime cellar pruning. Deep amber, holds a fat coat of cream head a while. Boozy aroma with Sherry, figs, dried peach, burnt toffee. Full, really luscious & creamy body with substantial carbonation. Sweet (figs, sultanas, dried peach, some Sherry) but still bitter and a bit roasty too. Some overt alcohol but nothing inappropriate. Some nut oil creeps in too. Not sure of the date format here - does 201018 mean October this year or is it 18 months past best before? Anyway this is really good now and I'd guess has a good 3 years before it goes anywhere. 3.9 Murray's Anniversary Ale 10 Bottle. Clear deep brown with less than a coat of cream head. Aroma of toffee, breadcrust, almonds, whisky. More vanilla than oak as such. Just short of syrupy, assisted by some carbonation. Rich but not all that heavy with oloroso, breadcrust, raisins and almonds gathered up by (a little) alcohol, oak and distinct bitterness. Perhaps not all that deep but lovely balance. Sunday, April 19, 2020

4.1 Murray's Wild Thing Imperial Stout This years version is more coffee flavoured than last years chocolate. A strong flavour that almost takes this from a stout into DIPA/IIPA territory with the bitterness of coffee not hops. Tonight this is a 'new job celebratory' beer and a mid week night cap so it's all good Saturday, February 15, 2020

3.4 Murray's & Doughheads Dessert Porter Pours almost black with sugary chocolate bouquet . Super chocolate and yes, hazelnut greet the palate. However that unfortunate forced flavour you get from some overworked beers appears here. Claggy finish is somewhat predictable. Friday, July 5, 2019

3.3 Yellow Submarine Can to IPA glass. Deep amber haze in the glass with thin head. Smells like over ripe banana and orange flesh. Citrus oily and tropical fruit on the palate - not too pronounced. Firm bitterness and rind length. Solid but had better NEIPA’s. Bit lacking it’s full potential Thursday, June 6, 2019

3.2 Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale Bottle. Amberish coloured beer with a good head. The aroma is hopped, and the flavour is quite well hopped and bitter with a reasonable length of finish. Overall a reasonable pale ale. Thursday, May 16, 2019

3.1 Murray's Pineapple Express From a 375ml can on 13/5/2019. Pours a fairly clear golden with a small head. Has a really odd aroma of smelly cheese and vomit. Not as frightening taste wise. Has a good dash of pineapple and orange, a bit of bready malt, and a fairly gentle bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. The cheesy nose and pineapple does establish some link with pizza. Not the worst. Monday, May 13, 2019
