Beautiful fresh smelling beer that brings back any memories of Japan (if you have been). The green tea taste is very evident and it was quite an enjoyable drink, if a little bit too drinkable.

Renaissance Voyager India Pale Ale
Pours light amber, bitt of foam. Aroma is softly hoppy, malt base is clear in the background, providing also some sweetness. Taste is also mildly hoppy, not really a hop bomb but has still some tingle going on. Malt caramel is abundant, and finish has some more dry hop bitterness lingering for a while. Better than I expected from a cheap COSTCO beer actually.

Renaissance Boonies New Zealand IPA

Very hazy dark amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and has a minerally crisp bite. Tangy thin malts, touches of cream and caramel. Ripe fruits. A little hop spice and floral bitterness. Light finish. Wow! What a disappointment. Where are the big juicy NZ hops? Why is this beer so dark? Lame.

Renaissance Abundance Baltic Cherry Porter
Brända gryn i eftersmaken. Mycket len och fyllig kropp med en mjuk, liten kolsyra. Mycket speciell och ganska bra hittepå.

Renaissance Marlborough Pale Ale (MPA) (2013 & Onwards)

330 ml bottle bought at HK Brewcraft in Central.

Looks: Translucent straw amber colour with a fine mist of yeast particles; One-quarter finger head with soapy off-white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet rich Ale malt, with passion fruits, strong peaches, floral nectar, honey, sugar, pine, strong resins, grapefruit peels and grass.

Taste: Strong sweet Ale malt, with caramel, toffee, strong grapefruits flesh and peels, floral, alcohol, strong molasses, light pine, strong resin ooze, earth, dry biscuits, strong lemon, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Close to medium body. Dry and oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Solid Ale maltyness in a slick background. Strong grapefruit hops - more peels than fruits - dominate mixed well with caramel and sharp toffee! Strong molasses sweetness but well balanced by very oozy earthy bitterness. Dry with strong lemon to round. Right on!

Hoppiness: Passion fruits, strong peaches, floral nectar, pine, strong resins, grapefruit peels and grass in nose. Strong grapefruits peels, floral, light pine, strong resins, earth, strong lemon and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, very high astringent bitter-sweet malty finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Citrusy, oozy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: Every aspect of this DIPA has something outstanding, like its peachy aroma, strong grapefruit peel in taste, malty to the nose but rather pleasantly light to the tongue, and that beautiful toffee taste like a flash of brilliance. Well balanced from start to finish, I can’t help but to enjoy this one a lot!

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Offie and Toffee. Pours light,y hazy orange with a frothy topping. The nose has crackers malts, faded pine, ripe citrus, a little marmalade. Medium sweet flavor with strong bready and crackers malts, stewed citrus fruits, piney bitterness, berries, a little grass. Medium to full bodied, with fine to average carbonation. Finishes lightly resinous, subtly warming, with more lightly aged pine, citrus, melon, tangerine, oily pine. This one feels a bit faded overall, although there are still some juicy elements here.

Very deep brown body with a tan, very long-lived head that laces the glass well. Sweet, malty and strong aroma of cocoa, dark chocolate, dark roasted malt and coffee. Strong flavour of roasted malt, cocoa, chocolate and fruity hints. Light sweet taste with a light bitter and long-lasting finish. Thin and watery mouthfeel with a soft carbonation, but still a very nice brew

Clear, medium amber body with a small, eggnog head that ends up as a partially covering film and some build-up at the walls, good lacing. Hoppy and very strong aroma of slightly overripe and rather tropical-smelling fruits, caramel, and resin in the back. Strong hoppy flavour of slightly overripe tropical fruits, berries and resin from dried pine logs, and in the back I get spices and caramel. Moderate sweet initial taste with a long-lasting heavy bitter finish. Close to full body, oily texture, moderate carbonation. A powerful, hop-centric and pleasant DIPA.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Offie & Toffee. Pours totally clear gold, lightly effervescent, with a frothy, white head. The aroma has pale biscuit, faintly aged pine, a little cracker, rindy citrus, orange, white grape, golden raisin. Light-medium sweet flavour with further crackery malts, assertive piney bitterness, rindy citrus, orange. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish, with more piney notes, biscuits, dry bread, bitter hay, some grass, orange rind, pithy grapefruit, hints of white grape. Good stuff overall.
