500ml bottle at Jamey’s. Pours a clear dark copper with a weak tan head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruits, roasted malt, some woody notes. Taste is caramel, dark fruits, hoppy bitter, roasted malt. Hoppy bitter, roasted malt aftertaste. Good stuff.

Renaissance Marlborough Pale Ale (MPA) (2013 & Onwards)
500mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, citrus, caramel and stone fruits. Flavour is very malty, with lots of caramel upfront, resinous hops, residual sugar, and citrus. Citrusy, astringent and malty sweet on the finish. A little too malty for a IIPA, but it’s alright.

30.05.2016, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, dark malts, cocoa, nuts, roasted grain, chocolate, minerals, caramel, toast. Taste is metallic, burnt grain, metal tank, grass, minerals, dark malts, sour coffee, weeds, hay, paper, bark. Medium bitterness, watery and harsh metallic mouthfeel. Nice aroma, that’s all...

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy opaque orange amber with a small white head. Aroma is very fruity, with lots of stone fruits and tropical fruity hops. Flavour is big on the berry fruitiness, with fairly abrasive citrus hops and tropical fruitiness. Not particularly complex and a tad abrasive, but it works well together. Very nice.

Renaissance Odyssey Wit Beer
Bottle from local Yamaya store. Light spicy, yeasty nose, with a tiny bit of orange peel zestiness. Hazy murky yellow, fizzy fast-diminishing head. Thin wheaty initial, gets a bit harsh in mid palate with bittering and spice, and then flattens out quickly. Thin body. Not bad, not good. More or less drinkable.

Renaissance Tribute Barley Wine (2012)
Bottle from the LCBO in Niagara Falls. Vintage 2012. 10.8% for some reason. Pours rather unattractive murky brownish rusty colour, barely translucent, with a couple of bubbles serving as head. Definitely not a looker, this one. The aroma, on the other hand, is just excellent - toffee and caramel, dried prunes soaked in port wine maybe. Lovely! Tastes heavy sweet, with all the usual suspects of a BW there, just a bit harsh alcoholic and slightly bitterish zing in the finish, yet without becoming exactly boozy. After 2 hours - yes, I’m a slow drinker, and this is, after all a sipper - the warmth has entirely covered, and numbed even, the inside of the mouth. Thin, rather active carbonation. Heavy, sludgy body, slightly sticky texture. Lovely stuff. I wonder what it was like when released.

21st May 2016
Light haze on this gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is light, fairly dry and has a fine minerally crispness. Light malts, mild sweetness and a trace of cream. Good hops - fresh orange, orange peel, marmalade, hop spice. Pine and a touch of tropical fruits. Light finish. Mild peel bitter linger. Nice beer, but style wise - the hops overwhelm the any lager character and I reckon you would struggle to identify it as such blindfold.

Renaissance Enlightenment Series Boom!
Clear, medium amber body with a creamy, egg-white, long-lived head that sticks to the glass. Strong, hop-driven aroma of slightly overripe tropical fruits and pine. Strong flavour of ever so slightly overripe tropical fruits, grapefruit, pine and some caramel in the back. Moderate sweet taste with a long-lasting heavy bitter finish. Medium body, creamy and smooth texture, moderate carbonation, light dry in the finish. A very hop-centric DIPA with a gentle malt contribution.

Bottle from Hop Burns & Black. It pours clear golden with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, grassy, green hops, aniseed, lemon sherbet, lemon meringue, and bread. The taste is crisp, clean, bitter, grassy, pine, lemon-lime, straw, pepper, grapefruit with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Works rather well. Tasty.

500ml bottle from Yamaya. Pours a dark brown with cola highlights, high visible carbonation, making kinda look like a Coke. Roasted malt nose, but with a dusty airy feel. Added aroma of milk coffee, vanilla, cocoa nibs. The flavour has a strong middle, cocoa and roasted coffee, kinda burnt in the trail off. There are oats in the flavour mix but it’s not smoothing the feel for me, acrid bitterness, somewhat raspy carbonation. Light-medium body. For all the flavours it doesn’t mesh together too well. 500ml will be tough.

Copper clear, big frothy beige head. Smell of grapefruit, citrus, spices, hints of pine, some tropical fruits. Moderate sweet, grapefruit and clean malt flavor at first, then spicy and herbal notes compined with aggressive resins. Heavy bitter, resin tail. Quite nice, but i would prefer a fresher sample

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb and Stuu666. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, tar, faint smoke. I’m getting wood, as is everyone else. Chocolate dominates though. Taste is more cocoa, toffee. Like one of those toffee and chocolate bars you get these days. If anything a touch thin, but otherwise very nice.
