Schlenkerla29	3.3 Brewbaker Berlin IPA Altgolden und leicht getrübt macht mir BrewBakers Berlin IPA seine Aufwartung. Eine ansehnliche Schaumkrone cremigen Charakters baut sich auf, allerdings auch recht zügig wieder ab. Die Nase wird mit Ananas, Pomelo, Litschi & Co beschäftigt, darüber hinaus ist ein kräuterig-würziger Unterton nach Pinie, Harz und Wacholder auszumachen. Ein süßlich-süffiger Antrunk erwartet mich und leitet ohne jegliche geschmackliche Barrieren in den samtig-weichen, fruchtig-aromatischen Körper über, dessen Abschluss aus malziger sowie hopfiger Würze besteht. Im grundsätzlich fülligen Aufbau wirkt die relativ hohe Süße zu keiner Zeit überproportioniert. Gut gefällt mir, dass im weiteren Verlauf ohne viel Federlesens eine ausgewogene Würzigkeit lauert und der Hopfen sich so im Handumdrehen wieder seine Monopolstellung sichert. Das wirkt stimmig, rund und grundsolide! Kurz und knapp schließt das Berlin IPA mit würzig-bitterem Hopfen (Pinie & Pampelmuse) ab, die 65 IBU treten schön eingebunden im Zusammenspiel mit den Fruchtnoten in Aktion. Schlenkerla29	3.2 Doppel B Das Doppel B offenbart sich im hellen Bernstein mit marginaler Trübung. Die Blume ist fein und cremig, ihre Beständigkeit vermag ebenfalls zu beeindrucken. Der Geruch weiß mit einer wunderbare Beerenaromatik (rote, süße Beeren) und einem frischen obstigen Duft zu gefallen. Zitronenschale, Pampelmuse und Mandarine treten im Antrunk geschmacklich in Erscheinung. Anfänglich erscheint es etwas sehr herb, doch recht schnell wird diese Herbe von der Süße des Malzkörpers eingebunden. Der Hopfen schmeckt wie nasal ausgemacht nach roten, reifen Beeren und besitzt auch kräuterige Einflüsse. Der Durchgang ist süffig und wirkt ausgewogen, der Nachtrunk wartet mit einer satten, aber nicht kratzigen Herbe auf. Die Textur wird durch die Hefe und die sichtbaren Schwebteile aufgewertet, welche ein weiches Mundgefühl erzeugen. Sehr erfrischend, auch im Nachtrunk verbleibt noch eine herbe Note am Gaumen haften. Sicherlich kein völliger Überflieger, aber dennoch eine verdammt schmackhafte Angelegenheit! Sunday, January 1, 2023

Rotin	3.5 Brewbaker Berliner Jahrgangs Weisse 2016 Bottle 0.75l from BrewBaker in 2017. Clear, pale amber colored. AROMA- decent, vinous, sourish, raisins, plums, slight touch of farmyard. FLAVOR- dry, quite sour, somewhat empty, vinous, sharp, vinegar, sour apple juice, very sour grapes, apricot. Medium bodied. Nice one. Saturday, January 1, 2022

Marko	2.7 Brewbaker / Brewdog / Berliner Berg / Brlo / Schneeeule Sunburst Sour Bottled. Thanks Ryan! Misty ochre body, white head. Oxidated, sharp, yeasty aroma, white grapes? raisins? Fruity, bready, musty. Sourdough bread and citric tartness initially come with light yoghurty notes backed by high, sparkly carbonation, edged with light oxidation, prompting me to say I actually liked it, but sip after sip everything fell apart completely, joining the unappealing aroma in a yeasty, lacto, lighty bready mess. Hazy pale yellow golden, small fizzy fast disappearing head, lot of activity in the glass including tiny yeast particles that sink to the bottom. Aroma tart, wheat malt, lemon, green apples, yeast, Taste medium sour and ever so light sweetbitter, tart, wheat, lemon, gooseberry, apple. FLAVOR- neutral to slightly sweet, moderately bitter, quite warming, roasted malts, a bit burnt, pralines, nuts, coffee. Fuller bodied. Very good. Saturday, November 23, 2019

hauxe	3.7 Brewbaker Berliner Blut Double Smoked Red Ale Dark red with a frothy, beige head. Campfire aroma. Whiffs of cherry syrup and caramel underneath. Mild smoky bittersweetness most of the way through. Nice blend of charred bitterness and sweet caramel. Finishes warm, mildly alcoholic. Body medium to full, carbonation balanced. Good overall. snowcrash000	3.8 Brewbaker Berliner Framboise Pours a slightly cloudy, brown'ish red coloration with a medium, quickly fading, foamy head. Smell is dominated by musty funk, sweet and tart raspberry and a certain vinegary note as well. Taste is very musty and funky, with a strong tartness and somewhat lighter acidity as well, some light, sweet'ish malt and a medium, somewhat overripe raspberry note, as well as some vinegar and a certain woody, slightly tannic quality as well. Finishes with a light bitterness, strong tartness and some raspberry, funk and vinegar lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and low/medium carbonation. I would have to rate this a lot lower strictly to style, because honestly this tastes more like a lambic than a Berliner Weiße with its very strong funky, musty notes, heavier body and lighter carbonation than you would expect from a Berliner Weiße, but I won't because it's such an enjoyable beer in its own right. snowcrash000	3.9 Brewbaker Berliner Jahrgangs Weisse 2016 Pours a clear golden amber coloration with a large, quickly fading, foamy head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of doughy wheat malt, and estery fruit notes of apricot, green apple and gooseberry, with some musty, blue cheese funk coming through as well. Taste is dominated by strong citric acidity that wasn't really evident in the nose, as well as those estery fruit notes of apricot, green apple and gooseberry, as well as lime peel and a hint of hay and musty, blue cheese funk. Finishes with a strong citric acidity and some estery fruit notes and light funk lingering in the aftertaste. Sparkling, effervescent mouthfeel with a light body and strong carbonation. A very nice, well-balanced Berliner Weiße that is light-bodied, sparkling, acidic and quite refreshing, while still managing quite a nuanced flavor profile with a great depth of flavor for the ABV as well, with a great balance of strong acidity, light funk and assertive estery fruit notes. Zlotta	3.4 Brewbaker Berliner Jahrgangs Weisse 2015 0.75 l bottle from 'Hopfenrausch', best before 2035, cellared for almost three years. Clear, amber with a medium large, a bit fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, gently fruity and a bit funky aroma of lemon, apples, some rhubarb and a touch of horse blanket. Minimally sweet, gently sour, rather fruity and a little funky taste of rhubarb, apples, some lemon and traces of horse blanket, followed by a short, gently tart, rather dry and minimally funky finish. Thin to medium body, gently astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Pleasant, mellow Berliner Weisse with a touch of funk, way better than their regular one. Minimally milky, golden colour with average to huge, thick, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, snow white head. Mildly funky, slightly fruity, minimally lactic aroma, notes of white grapes, unripe apricot, nectarine, a touch of grape sugar, white wine. Taste is dry, tart, lactic, mildly funky, minimally vinous, tannic, woody and fruity, hints of mild sauerkraut, white wine, white grapes, unripe gooseberry, unripe rhubarb. A nice one. AROMA- prominent ginger aroma, touch of malt and caramel on background. FLAVOR- quite sour, ginger... Light to medium bodied. Quite empty, just ginger flavor. Not really my style. snowcrash000	3.9 Brewbaker Berliner Weisse Pours a light gold, straw coloration with a tiny, fizzy head. Smell is tart and funky, with citrus and estery yeast notes of lime and green apple. Taste follows the nose, being quite tart and funky with a pronounced citric acidity and tart green apple flavour backed up by notes of lime, white grape, wheat and light estery spice. Finishes quite dry, with a mouth-puckering citric acidity coming through in the aftertaste. Light body with medium carbonation. This is an old-school, low-ABV Berliner Weiße that is triple-fermented with lactobacillus, brettanomyces and saccharomyces and it really shows with a lovely tart and funky aroma/flavor profile with additional estery yeast and wheat notes. Light-bodied, crisp and dry, making this the a perfect, refreshing summer beer. Sunday, September 2, 2018
