Piccadillys Hometown Hefeweizen
Surprisingly decent brew, with a peppery, hoppy bite (and high carbonation for the style) combining with the usual citrus notes for a somewhat off-style but drinkable "живе вірджінське пиво" (Winchester, May ’11)

Piccadillys 1752 Stout
Served on draft at the brewpub, 1/8/11. Slightly hazy red color, thin head, poor head retention and lacing. Faint aroma of acrid roasted malts. The taste is bitter acrid malts with a sweet finish and very faint bitter hops. Thin bodied. The blends are not any better.

Piccadillys 1752 Stout
Tap. Pours clear brown and flat. Aroma is average malt (caramel, toasted, nutty), light hops (earthy), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of dates. Flavor is average malt (cookie, caramel, toasted, nutty), light hops (earthy), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of dates. Medium body, low warmth, carbonation, and creaminess with a dry finish. What the fuck are these folks doing? You are better off ordering one of the macro swill taps they have.

Very black in color. No head to speak of. Slight molasses and roasted malt aroma on the nose. A very light stout. Weak roasted malt favor with a touch of coffee and cream thrown in. Its easy drinking but overall its not that impressive.

This brew was really nice... Slight honey and clove in aroma. Sweet citrus and banana flavor. It really works. Overall this is a really good brew.

Piccadillys Patsys Pilsner
This one was not terribly impressive. Slightly creamy sour in taste. Amost like milk that is ready to go sour. It does finish clean with a slight herbal bitterness. Pours light amber in color with a slight citrusy aroma.

Piccadillys 1752 Stout
Dark cola brown, clear, with a tan head. Flavor is basic chocolate malt, roast, some nuts, some dry, cracked grains and a light touch of sweetness that grows over the middle... chewy, chalky, just enough to cancel out the sticky, oily, sweetness. Not terrible, but not good. The brown ale and red ale from-tap blends were hideously bad.

Piccadillys Hometown Hefeweizen
Milky/cloudy yellow colored body, white head, proper appearance. Citrus, dry, sharp piney hops in the nose with heavy dose of lemon juice. Chewy, chunky wheat and lemon tasted, some light funky cheese/yeast notes as well, and some citrus on the back, somewhat sharp... makes me think they put lemon juice in the beer. It’s been done before... but to be honest it wasn’t that bad. Perhaps they got lucky with this one batch and actually brewed something drinkable.

Dark, dingy looking orange/amber color, light haze, some sort of black particles floating in my glass, that’s just great. Nose of wet oranges and sour grains, flavor much the same. Oily, dirty, messy old cheese cloth, spoiled fruit, soggy bread and wet dog hair. Get the point? This is when I stopped taking notes.

1752 Stout (AKA Stonewall Stout)-on tap-pours a tan head and dark brown color. Aroma is mild dark malt. Taste is mild dark malt, faint hops, ok carbonation. Medium body, more like a light brown ale. Nothing bad, but nondescript.

Aroma is light fruit, wheat. Taste is light fruit, wheat, some spices. Not like any other Hefeweizen I have had before, but quite similar to their other ‘offerings’.

Piccadillys Spring Ale
Draft... Hazy, burnt orange ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Decent retention. Earthy, spicy, citric nose. Excellent balance in flavor, but lacks any real character. Not offensive. Medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. Short, crisp, very clean finish. Refreshing, but more like a lager than an ale.

Piccadillys 1752 Stout
Draft... Hazy orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Rich, malty flavor and aroma with mild apple esters (maybe acetaldehyde), chocolate, caramel and vinous notes (dry sherry). Earthy, spicy hops in the nose alone. Well-bittered for balance. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish.
Earlier Rating: 7/12/2006 Total Score: 2.8
Draft... Murky amber ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Chocolatey, apple nose with earthy, spicy hops. Malty, toasted flavor. Good balance. Milk chocolate notes and apple esters (maybe acetaldehyde). Very pleasant. Medium-bodied and astringent with fizzy carbonation. Finishes crisp, a little fruity and then dry.
Earlier Rating: 3/20/2006 Total Score: 2.5
Draft... Murky, prune-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. No smell at all. Decently balanced, but so very thin. Almost nondescript except for a brief glimpse of chocolate. Medium-bodied and watery with medium carbonation. Finishes tangy with just a whisper of sweetness. This is a nut brown ale. Nothing STOUT about it.

Piccadillys Spring Ale
On tap at the brewpub. The most distinctive of the beers on offer, if a bit atypical for a spring ale. Amber colour, with a distinct dry malt edge to the aroma and flavour. But hop levels were low and, like all of the beers I tried, clean but lacking punch. Entirely drinkable though.

Apple Valley Red Ale
More amber than red really. Some earthy notes but not a lot of malt character. Too many of the Piccadillys beers I tried were rather similar, without a lot of clout. Clean but a bit short of flavour. Its a new brewery and a nice place, so lets hope they are still feeling their way and will realise that the beers need rather more presence.

Fredericktown Brown Ale.
On tap at the brewpub. The stout was more like a brown ale and this brown ale was more like - well - a light brown ale. Perhaps in a Newcastle Brown style. Like most of the beers, this was clean but rather underpowered and short of impact. Not really anything to take too much exception to, but not much to hold the interest either. Early days so, hopefully, they’ll get the message that the beers need beefing up a bit.

1752 Stout
I would concur entirely with the others on this but for the fact I had the same brewer’s brown ale at the same time. Darkish brown colour with a hint of red. Distinctly pale for a stout. Not much aroma - some roasty malt. More light roast malt on the palate with just a hint of powdery chocolate. But all a bit thin and wishy washy for a stout. In fact the first thing the server said when I ordered it was "Its not a thick stout like Guinness", so I guess they’ve had some comments about how thin it is. Not unpleasant, just not enough presence.

Piccadillys Patsys Pilsner
On tap at the brewoub. Unlike most of the other Piccadillys beers I tried, which were very lightweight for their respective styles, this was about right for a lager, so I suppose, to that extent, it was one of the more successful beers. Clean enough, but its still a straighforward lager. OK but a bit dull.

Piccadillys Hometown Hefeweizen
Slightly hazy amber colour. Clean and fresh but almost devoid of hefe character. The slice of lemon or orange they offered me with it might have added some citrus notes had I not refused it, to the bemusement of the bar staff. Like all the other Piccadilly beers I tried it was drinkable enough, but short of presence.

Piccadillys 1752 Stout
As hopscotch said, a brown ale. Not a completely horrible brown ale, but a brown ale all the same. The only evidence of "stoutiness" was a very light roastiness near the finish. Not too offensive, but it gets points off for mistaking its own identity.

Piccadillys Braddocks Bock
Draft... Hazy, copper ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Faint chocolate aroma... very faint. Too sweet. The brewer needs to discover hops... malt too, for that matter. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel. Finishes astringent and dry. Not much going on with any of their brews thusfar. Lots of room for improvement. Onward and upward, Piccadilly’s!

Draft... Hazy, straw-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Much like their other offerings on this occasion, this one’s aroma is totally nondescript. The flavor is just a touch on the sweet side of balance. Also, lightly tart and tangy with a sliver of lemon peel. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Astringent, dry finish.

Piccadillys Patsys Pilsner
Draft... Cloudy, straw-colored lager with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is completely nondescript. I don’t know what else to say other than "it’s not offensive." Tart and tangy flavor... unlike any pilsener I’ve ever tasted. Medium-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Finishes tart and crisp. I can only assume that this beer was lagered since the brewing vessels are actually in the main part of the restaurant. It appears as if there’s no temperature control. But, I’m no brewer and maybe the fermentation vessel has temperature control built in. Either way, this is a really poor pilsener.
