Hirter Privat Pils 2.3
From a bottle, tastes like somewhat aged mild old country pils. Yes many of these beers from euro have that typical background note.

Hirter Beerique Imperial Porter 3.9
From bottle at CBF Wien.
Dark brownish-copper body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of coffee, cocoa, caramel, dried fruits, some alcohol.
Tastes of coffee, cocoa, tobacco, dark fruits, caramel, slight liquorice.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, roasty, a bit sweet, medium dry, with coffee, cocoa, some tobacco, some alcohol.

Tasty. Lovely coffee notes, especially in the taste. Great balance between roastiness, sweetness and some dryness. Alcohol is well hidden. Pleasant surprise to find such a good Imperial Porter from a traditional Austrian brewery.

Earlier Rating: 3/9/2015 Total Score: 3.4
Poured from bottle at Braukunst Live München 2015.
Black body, with a medium, dense, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma is a bit one-dimensional, with coffee, chocolate, dark berries and subtle citric hops.
Taste is fuller, with cappuccino, chocolate, some vanilla, nuts, dark fruits, some citric hops.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation,
Finishes roasty, alcoholic, a bit dry, with coffee and subtle fruits.

Good. The nose is quite boring, but the taste has some pleasant, dark notes. Still far from a great beer of this style, but it is one of the very first Imperial Porters from Austria of course.

Tekkno Super Trance 1.8
330ml bottle from Conad supermarket, Venice (€2.60):
This one is a classic case of good marketing, I was attracted to this beer based on the nice label the bottle featured but that’s where the good times ended I’m afraid. This one was a cheap & basic, super-strength pale lager that had little in the way of flavour & was a real struggle to finish. There was a combination of cheap malts & corn along with basic adjuncts but the taste was awful & the balance all over the place; a terrible beer & definitely one to avoid.
