2.8 Maisel Eine Bamberger Weisse Dunkel Below average for the style. Plain light and not very spicy. A bit soapy. Oh I wish for so much more from this style, especially when I see one from Germany. Saturday, September 22, 2018

3.4 Maisel Pils Aufgrund von Erbstreitigkeiten ging diese sympathische Brauerei kaputt. Schade, denn obwohl Maisel in Bamberg eher ein Schattendasein führte war das Pils doch spitze! Saturday, November 14, 2015

3.5 Maisel Eine Bamberger Weisse On tap at Bamberger Weissbierhaus. Some foam banana on the nose, but actually fairly light. Similar taste. A light weizen with a noticeable wheat beer aroma of foam banana but not powerfull. Tuesday, July 21, 2015

1.9 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Bottle: The aroma consists of apples, yeast, and a touch of bread. It pours a hazy orangish-brown with a decent amount of suspended sediment. Even with a vigorous pour, only a small large-bubbled head forms before quickly fading to almost nothing. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel and fruit. The finish has some watered down bready notes with some faint apple. It’s light bodied with flat mouthfeel. Overall...looking at the most recent ratings and seeing that this brewery is out of business, this is well past it’s prime. Saturday, June 21, 2014

3.4 Maisel Eine Bamberger Weisse Very good beer. With seemingly asymetric palate, the Weiss bier serves as a Premier quenching after-dinner drink. Wednesday, June 11, 2014

3.1 Maisel Eine Bamberger Weisse Dunkel 1L maß. Nice looking brown colored dunkelweizen, big frothy head bubbles down eventually. Fairly sweet aroma, appetizing. Taste is typical of the style , lots of banana, nuts, and a little yeasty. It fails to impress the palate, though - it’s a bit on the fizzy side, and it isn’t quite as smooth as it ought to be. Overall, not bad. Tuesday, May 28, 2013

3 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Backlog rating 3-24-2009 (Bottle) This beer has a tiny small white head that quickly dissipated, transparent body with a gold hue, visible carbonation, and no lacing. The aromas are malt, hoppy, crisp, and sharp. Ditto for the taste. The palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, the taste of this beer is very bland and boring to drink, lacks character and is a beer that I will not drink again. Saturday, April 13, 2013

2.2 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Cloudy, amber brown with a short, soap-like, tan-grey head. No scent to speak of....maybe just a little stale bread. Taste is wooden, caramel, toasted malt. Obviously well past it’s prime.....apparently this brewer went away over a year ago.... Quite a shame....probably a decent beer in it’s day. Sunday, December 23, 2012

3.5 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Unfortunately, this brewery closed and this is an old bottle. Nothing wrong with it, except its near-flat. Cloudy orange with a pathetic head struggling to form, then quickly disappearing. Aroma is caramelly malt and yeast. Taste is sweet caramel malts, yeast, wood and hops just to balance. Slightly sticky body, and near-flat. Sad to see this place go. Sunday, August 7, 2011

Nett! Test vom 19.2.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,12,12,11,11,12 - 11,50 Saturday, June 11, 2011

3.2 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Pours a caramel color with no head. Aroma of caramel, bread, and toasted malts. Caramel is dominant flavor with bread, toasted malts, and toffee rounding out the taste. Surprising substance for this style. Monday, September 20, 2010

3 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Good but I feel something didn’t translate to the bottle version. I would really like to taste it on tap. I did like this but compared to some other Keller bier for some reason the flavors just die a little too quickly in your mouth. Serving: Bottle Monday, August 2, 2010

2.5 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Deep amber-brown pour. The nose is lightly sweet and caramelly with more than a touch of oxidation. Rich and bready however with a toasted malt character. Lazy carbonation. Oddly dusty and dry. I suspect this was once quite tasty, but it’s well past that time now. Thursday, July 1, 2010

3.2 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier A bit dull-looking clear light orange pour with little apparent carbonation a just a timid off-white foam that recedes to a ring. This 500 ml bottle was bought around 2 months ago at Half Time. On the nose, it deploys subtle, but pleasant, well-extracted grainy flavours that feel cerealic and complete (though never really rich) and a certain damp, sandy character that might be related to a lack of freshness. Fortunately, it seems brighter in mouth where its subtle hop profile grows on you, comprising surprising salty qualities atop its leafy, almost gently lemony, borderline earthy notes. Rather complex hop profile indeed, evolving into a cleansing bitterness. In terms of structure, it could be a bit more structured as its tiny-bubbled carbonation feels a bit tame, giving the strawy, fieldish, bread crusty malts a sloppier appearance than they deserve. The transition from entrance to finish also seems a bit empty when contrasted to the beautiful finish. It’s certainly something I’d try again under fresher circumstances, but in the US, for my money, I’d rather grab a similar, more complete St. georgen. Sunday, May 30, 2010

2.3 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Orange light brown color. Almost no head and sudsy bubbles. Nose is nutty malts and a bit of cookie dough. Taste is about the same, very mildly tart w/o much bitterness in the finish but still reasonably balanced. Under-carbonated and feels a little thick, maybe lightly sticky. Just not a great beer. 2 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier unfortunately seeing as this isn’t being made anymore, most of the recent ratings are from bottles that are starting to fade, mine was... Pours a murky tan, low sparse foam .. . smells muddy . . odd flavours, but not typical . .. Monday, January 4, 2010

2.9 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Sample @ Coles German Tasting 2009. Golden orange pour, notes of honey, rich maliness, some floralness. Taste is sort of flat, sweet & rich malts, honey, floral. OK seems like an old bottle Saturday, October 17, 2009

1.7 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very small sized head of foamy off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy dark orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malt hop. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The thin flavor contained notes of malt. Not one that I would buy again. Sunday, September 20, 2009

3 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier 500ml bottle. Pours a brownish amber color with very little head. Aroma is almost all malt with maybe a hint of caramel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth, but flat. Taste is same as aroma. Not real impressed. Friday, July 31, 2009

3.4 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Bottle at Winking Lizard Crosswoods location. Opaque amber pour with a thin white head. Malty aroma of caramel and nuts with some lager yeast. Flavor is about the same with a dry finish. Sunday, July 12, 2009

3.4 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier From 99 Bottles in Federal Way, WA. Almost, oh hell, it WAS headless along with a hazy orange body. It smelt, I think, mostly of malt. Taste was somewhat bitter, with a slightly sour finish, and the mouthfeel was not objectionable. Not sure if I care all that much for this style; perhaps it is an acquired taste, but I’ll not dismiss the style after only one bottle. To be fair, I did like it better the further into the glass I got. Tuesday, July 7, 2009

2.9 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Pours an unimpressive white head that leaves no lacing. Brownish amber color. Mild malty aroma. Molasses and malts is what I tastes. Smooth, but not watery. Nothing at all exciting. Thursday, May 28, 2009

2.8 Maisel St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of straw as well as light notes of malt and citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw, leading to a bitter finish. The body is somewhat thin. Sunday, May 3, 2009
