Bottle from local REWE. The perry has got a clear vanilla colour with a lively body. High carbonation. Aroma of ripe pears and sugar. Taste of unripe pears, leaves, fields, spring. When the carbonation gets less and the temperature a bit warmer, this one is very quaffable and good. Enjoyed it.

Bottle sampled. Pours clear pale golden with no head. Aroma is fairly funky, barnyard, sweet and tart pear. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate acidic. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

La Poulardière Cidre Fermier
750ml bottle bought at a French market in Ware, Herts in about 1999. This had been stored, and forgotten, in the garage for 10 years. Explosive opening, with the cork travelling a fair distance and some of the cider being lost. The bottom of the cork had disintegrated in contact with the cider and was left floating in suspension along with some yeast. This resulted in a cloudy amber cider. Aroma was very tart with masses of barnyard character and little by way of fruit. Flavour was mouth puckeringly dry, heading in the direction of vinegar, with a touch of apple and an acidic finish that burned the stomach. No doubt well past its best, but an interesting drink nonetheless.
