Bottle into water glass. Very dark brown, retains a cream head. Make, light chocolate nose.b in the mouth more roasted malt,a bit if hop bitterness. Finishes with roast. Decent but not exciting example of the style.

Gearys Pale Ale
Bottle into plastic water glass. Dark brown, creamy head. Malty aroma. Medium malt in the mouth, decent hoops. Medium finish. Refreshing, not overly hopped. Solid if nothing terribly special. Reminds me of Newcastle with a bit more hops.

Gearys Hudson Red Ale
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is a handsome looking reddish amber color with a modest off-white head. Good toasted barley malt and distant chocolate character in the aroma. Earthy hops. Medium body.Same toasted sweetness in the flavor with a short-lasting dry finish. I’m not sure why so many Rate Beerians are panning this beer. I think it is a more than adequate representation of a tradition Red Ale.

Gearys Hudson Red Ale
Nice looking mahogany colored beer with a medium light tan head. Nose of caramel, plum, and sweet roasted grain. Flavor is less dramatic with a rather sweet caramel core overlaid with some acrid metallic hops. The after taste kills this for me.

From a bottle so certain aspects i have to guesstimate. Very nice malty up front taste with a bit of caramel. The taste does not linger though, it does not overpower you. Could drink this all night.

Beer of month club offering. Pours an amber color with no head at all. Mild nose of malt. Taste is of your basic red ale - some malt, caramel. It's decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of vanilla, roasted malts, cocoa and some coffee. The taste was similar to the aroma with some bitterness, cocoa, more coffee, roastiness and creamy. Not bad.

This is by far the best seasonal ale I’ve had this year. Hints of vanilla and spice with a strong bite that finishes clean and crisp. Love it!!! I’m in the Christmas spirit now !!!

Gearys Summer Ale
12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark Amber orange color with a dense creamy beige head. Aroma is of caramel malt and toffee. Rather bold for a summer ale. Flavor brings more caramel/toffee maltiness. A pleasant earthy, spicy hop bitterness balances the sweet malt flavor. Some nuttiness in finish. A complex malty Amber ale unlike most summer ales.

Draft at J's Oyster Bar. Pours copper colored with an inch of brown foam. Leaves trace lacing. Decent malt notes on the nose. Fairly big malt clashes loudly with chunky bitterness on the tongue. It's kind of like licking a penny but it's not bad all things being equal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Sweet brown sugar aroma with earthy hops and nutty accents. Faint citrus and litchi fruit notes. Clear mahogany under a persistent beige blanket. Sweet nutty brown sugar malt flavour up front, then a medium bitterness, along with walnuts, and then a lightly toasty, dry finish. Medium light body, medium carbonation, almost crisp.

6-pack poured into a 2-liter Moxie bottle and snuck into the Portland-Deering Thanksgiving football game in a backpack, then poured into 16 oz solo cups in the bleachers. Extremely foamy pour into the Moxie bottle. Less foam when pouring from the Moxie bottle into the solo cups, but still way more than you would want and each time the cup ended up being like 2/3 head. Toffee, vanilla, caramel, and booze aroma. Smokey creamy taste with a bit of a bite at the finish cause we mixed in some Beam on top of the foam. Not the best taste, but gets you messed up quick, and by like your 3rd one you don’t really care about the taste anyway. Deering sucks!

More of an Amber ale in my opinion but does have a little bit of a bitter pale ale finish, resembles an American pale more than a British.

Gearys Summer Ale
12oz into a nice tree house glass. Pours an Amber with a slight purple haze and ample copper shades. Thin and covering white head, thin layer of bubbles lingers. Lacing is solid. Not a typical summer ale, this has a solid Amber stature rather than a weak and pissy yellow fizz. Aroma of bready malts, caramel malts, Amber grains. Taste of more bready, chewy malts, soft hop entrance in the end. One of the most different summer ales I’ve had. Drinks like a solid Amber. Full bodied, fun, and pronounced. Must go good with lobster.

Pour is a clear brown with a small white head. Like strykzone said below not much of an aroma comes off the beer. A Smallish dark bready malt is about it. Flavor is much better. A nice dark fruit with some toffee lingering. Finish has a lot of those dry bready almost pumpernickel flavors. Pretty good beer once you give it a chance

12 ounce bottle from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. Clear amber with a beige head. Just a little lacing. Not a lot of aroma but it is malty and has just a little fruit. The flavor begins with a big bitter bang with the malt underneath that. It quickly gets gentler and fruit emerges. Mid glass chocolate began to take over and almost did that completely by the finish. At some point alcohol was noticed as harshness. This was a fun beer to try. Despite not expecting to, I liked it.

12 ounce bottle from Hayduke. Very dark with just a little amber. An ashy and smoky aroma that also has a little brown sugar. Flavor is also ash with tobacco. The cinnamon and toffee are noted as is some chocolate that is syrupy. Some earth and just a hint of fruity bitterness. This is an authentic English porter.

Pours out deep maroon like a cola, but with a brown head that lasts quite a while. Tastes like it smells: light roasts and a little caramel sweetness. Body is a little on the thin side. Pleasant but unexceptional.

Gearys IPA
I don’t know who Geary is but I think he made a mistake in making this IPA. It is pretty much hot garbage. It is sort of red brown and slightly cloudy w/ a head of fine bubbles. Just looking at it, you get the feeling something is awry but when you smell it you know for sure. The aroma is sharp and woody and you can feel a barleywine-ish sweetness coming on based on the smell. Oddly though, it is not actually sweet but bland w/ only some wierd oxidized caramel-ish malt around the edges and some soapy resinous bitterness. This is oddly thick in texture and kind of flat across the palate. Take everything you like about IPA and replace it w/ a piece of crap and you wind up w/ this beer. Fuck it. I have no time to be nice.

Cola-colored beer with a thin foamy beige head. Fairly weak nose of cocoa, licorice, and roasted grain, but you have to search for it. Flavor is also light for a porter with similar characteristics as the aroma with some coffee added in. Overall, it seems a bit watered down--if I’m going to drink a porter, I want to drink a porter and this is a pretty tame version. Like the ABV, this porter is on the low end.

(Rating #5902)

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Crystal clear tawny brown ale with off white head. Aroma is nutty malts, a little fruit and ethanol. Taste is modest malt sweetness up front, some crisp fruit in the middle and a boozy finish. A little unrefined and a little too much ethanol taste for a 7% abv (i.e. - not very strong) brew, but still enjoyable.
