Hesket Newmarket Double Hitch 3.4
Cask, Thin White Duke, Carlisle. Pours a pleasant gold colour, with a clean, white head. Low sulphur aroma and some fresh grassiness. Tangy and bitter on the tongue, the Polish influence is there, in terms of flavour, which is pleasant and quite refreshing, with some earthy and dry leaves notes. Background grain in the finish. Enjoyed this.

Hesket Newmarket Sca Fell Blond 2.7
Bottled, 500ml from Tebay Services, Orton, Cumbria. Gold with white head. There is a surprisingly odd taste from the start with this beer, waxy, sour orange pith is the closes I could think of, bitter and fruity, really difficult to describe. The flavour continues throughout the beer, which was a shame as the malt is light and biscuity. Not great.

Hesket Newmarket High Pike 3.5
Bottled, 500ml from Tebay Services, Orton, Cumbria. Reddish brown with white head. There is a pleasing beery aroma on opening, rich maltiness and this continues into the beer. There is a roasty, toasty element to the malts, good depth with a slightly oily note, resinous hops show through, earthy and leafy. A pleasant bottled lower ABV bitter, not as common as you would like to think.

Hesket Newmarket Black Sail 3.5
Bottled, 500ml from Tebay Services, Orton, Cumbria. Dark brown with cream head. There is a sweetish fruity note initially from this, not really Stout like, thinnish on the palate but then a darkly roasted, bitter chocolate note emerges delivering a toasty then liquorice character. Drinks nice and smoothly. Pretty decent eventually.

Hesket Newmarket Doris 90th Birthday Ale 3.2
Cask at Old Friends, Ulverston. Golden, heading to copper. Medium-sized white head. Malt, butterscotch aroma, some astringency. Not terribly engaging. Taste is better: some orangey sour adds complexity to the bittersweet character. Medium dry finish. Interesting.

Hesket Newmarket Sca Fell Blond 2
Bottle at Craigís, cheers Niall! Pours pale gold, thin white head. Definitely sherbet-to-brett on the nose, which has thinned out the beer to something not recognisable as golden/blonde ale. Sour fruits taste. Probably not intentional.

Hesket Newmarket Sca Fell Blond 1.6
Odd murky, odd visible carbonation, odd mealy head. Rusty sour lime. Thereís so many failings here. Palate is engaged four a massive sour . Like pouring a packet of refreshers into a carton of milk on the window sill and giving it a good shake. Nonsense. And I managed to bring two of these back from Cumbria.

Hesket Newmarket Tebayís 40th Birthday Ale 3.3
Bottle from Rheged, Cumbria. A hazy amber-brown beer that has sour, tart red fruity flavours with malty and toffee notes followed by a slight woody, dry finish. A very good sour brown ale, although I suspect itís not really supposed to taste like this and it could just be about to go off!

Hesket Newmarket Elder Daze 3.1
Cask Hell Below Carlisle. New 3.4% beer. Pale and lightly perfumed, some elderflower in both the aroma and taste, without being overpowering - itís not a flavour Iím overly keen on. Biscuit and soft malt finish. Summery and tasty.

Hesket Newmarket Helvellyn Gold 3.1
BCA. Pours quite flat, very pleasant clean gold colour. Low aroma, sulphury bitter palate, plenty of biscuit, quite lager-esque in the finish. As with most of HNís beers, it doesnít have a lot of body, but is an ideal summer quaffing beer.

Hesket Newmarket Sharp Edge 3
On cask @ Alexanders in Kendall. Itís golden to amber with the expected good head from cask dispense. The nose is a little bit grainy and delivers a little citrus and just a touch of toffee. The taste is a little bit bitty, maybe lacking in smoothness. The palate leaves a little bit of astringent malt on the finish rather than a hoppy bitterness. The previous beer Iíd tried from this brewery was a lot better than this.
