Buonatesta Reviews

Panzerfaust
2.8
Buonatesta Stout
Pours a deep dark hazy brown color, almost black. Medium off-white and fast diminishing head that leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is is malty, toasted. Dark bitter chocolate, mokka and milo hints. Cocoa powder and other chocolate alternatives. Flavor is sadly infected, with choclatery and roasted ceral notes underneath citrusy touches. This had potential to be good but it’s ruined by the infection. However I still think it’s not as bad as the previous ratings. Maybe the aging helped. Carbonation is medium, the finish is intense, lactic but leaves lemony notes. Medium to big body, smooth silky texture. I hope this one gets over a better quality control and that the brewery resolves its infection issues.

Panzerfaust
3.2
Buonatesta Red Ale
Pours a beautiful hazy red/copper color with a big nice off-white frothy head that lasts until I finish my glass. Aroma is yeasty, fruity with cereal traces. Notes of ripe fruits, spices, hebrs and honey sharing the stage. Pretty adventurous for such a small beer. Very good. Flavor is rather weak but not bad at all. Fruity notes of apples, strawberries and raspberries with a dry finish. A small citrusy trace appears showing a slight sign of infection but it doesn’t detract much. Medium body, very high carbonation that should be handled. Too much yeast present I think. Alcohol is also a little noticeable but that’s a fair touch. Nice aftertaste. I’m actually surprised. This one is an interesting beer and deserves a higher rating.

Buonatesta Red Ale
Appearance: amber orange color, turbid. Medium head and persistency, beige color. Aroma: candy, yeasty, nice hoppy smells, citric-fruits, peaches and honey. Flavor: rare bitterness, maybe from yeasts. Bitter and citric fruity, like peel grapefruits. Slightly candy, hoppy and rancid. Palate: light to medium body, semi-oily texture. Low carbonation. Very average.

Buonatesta Pale Ale
Appearance: mahogany color. Little head, beige color, few dense and low persistency. Aroma: highly yeasty, that dominated the smells. Slightly rancid, fruitiness of raisin and plum. Low herbal-hoppy, metallic touch. Flavor: too much bitter-yeasty, soft toasty of cereals, rare sourness. Fruitiness of peaches and red apples. Very low hoppy finish. Palate: Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Excessive yeasty, not advisable.

Buonatesta Stout
Appearance: dark brown color. Medium head, of beige color, few persistency. Aroma: toasty cereals, sweet, highly yeasty, something rancid, candy, not nice odor. Reminiscences of dark olives. Flavor: toasty of low persistency, sweet malty, very much yeasty, rancid. Touches of chocolate, berries and dark olives. Finish with light hoppyness, metallic and smoked; bitterness mainly from toasty. Slightly warming. Palate: light to medium body, watery and silky texture. Low carbonation. Too much light body and toasty for a stout. Rancid, but I don’t perceive infection problems. Not complexity nor character, disappointing chilean beer….

Buonatesta Red Ale
(in bottle – restaurant in Pucon City). The color is very dark amber, few foam and almost without cord. The aroma is to sweet malts. The flavor in the mouth, is with a strong sickly-sweet taste, but with a very bad finish, which remembers the oxide and the metals. Has a good texture, slightly gaseous, and rather oily. I must admit that, a red ale does not seem.

Buonatesta Stout
(in bottle – restaurant in Pucon City). Black opaque and cloudy color. Great body of foam, but that disappears too rapidly. The aroma is strong, malt and something of grass. has a aroma not very agreeable. The flavor is bitter and very acid (Probably the beer this one bad). Probably should obtain a new bottle, but I am not sure to try.

Buonatesta Pale Ale
(in bottle, restaurant in Pucon City, Chile). Intense color, darker mahogany of hoped in a beer pale. Head high and very lasting, with suitable carbonization. An aroma to toasting that perhaps remembers the smoke of a bonfire. Something of fruits, but with deep a bitter end. Too much bitterness.
