Carlow O’Hara’s Irish Stout
Aroma: nice and pleasant aromas of coffee, Espresso, milked coffee, chocolate. Appearance: dark amber-deep brown color, thick super creamy tan head made of small bubbles. The beer is very dark but it seems totally clear. Average persistence. Not much lacing. Taste: very pleasant flavors of roasted malts, coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, lactose. Acidic notes from the roasted malts. Light-to-medium sweetness, medium-to-high bitterness, no sourness. Palate: medium body, creamy texture, slightly above average carbonation, long dry bitter finish of roasted malts and coffee. Overall: good flavors and aromas of espresso coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts. An acidic touch from roasted malts. Long bitter finish of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts.

Lok: dark brown, almost black, opaque. Aroma: coffee, some mature alcohol, vanilla oak notes, wine. Taste: moderate sweetness, wine tartness, prominent bitterness, slightly salty. Flavour: coffee, sunflower seeds, grassy and earthy hops, mature scheese, wine. This an excellent beer. Mature and complex and not too sweet.

Carlow O’Hara’s 20th Anniversary Imperial Stout
Pours black color, clear, with light brown foamy head which transforms itself to a like by espresso coffee tiny ring around the glass. Aroma: intense roasted, dark malts aroma, with notes of chocolate, espresso coffee, supported with note of molasses, dark fruits... Flavor: Intense dark roasted malt flavor, roasted grain, with light burnt character, with medium esters, which takes on cherries, alcohol is noticeable. Hop flavor is not detectable. Finish is dry, with note like cherry wine. Body is medium-full to full, catbonation is medium, medium carbonation, texture is smooth. Imperial stout with character of foreign extra stout.

Carlow O’Hara’s Irish Red
My Bottom Line:
Caramelized cereals and earthy hops lead to herbal tips and their gentle bitterness in this healthy Irish Red Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy dark red.
-Both malt and hops are well defined.
-Flavor profile is well balanced.
-Mouthfeel is creamy despite their being no nitrogen in this one.

On tap at The Bull & Castle, Dublin.

Pinta / O’Hara’s Lublin to Dublin 2016
Kran. Sporo ciała, gęste i treściwe. Niedaleko do RIS’a, piłem już imperial stout’y, które były bardziej wodniste i mniej "konkretne". Polecam.

Piana beżowa, drobna, nietrwała. Barwa praktycznie czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Aromat czekoladowy, kakaowy, palony, kawowy - klasyczny, bardzo przyjemny. W smaku półsłodkie, sporo kakao, karmelu, pralinek, kawy espresso, coli i sosu sojowego, przy czym ten ostatni w takim stężeniu nieco przeszkadza. Goryczka średnia, palona. Alkohol delikatnie rozgrzewa, nieźle wkomponowany. Wysycenie niskie do średniego, drobne, pełne i kremowe w odczuciu.

Pours thick black with virtually no head. Smells of coffee liquor, licorice, some wood and sour notes. Taste is very complex, comprised of cold coffee, burnt wood, some soy sauce, a bit salty brandy notes. A complex beer that’s not my cup of tea but definitely of an interest, especially for those who love dryer and more complex imperial stouts.

Pours deep ruby and clear, big persistent tan head, decent lacing. Fairly dry aroma of toast, bread crust, toffee, coffee, herbs, spice, resin. Tastes fairly dry, light bitterness on top with a little bit of roasty acidity. Light body, medium carbonation, somewhat sticky aftertaste. Not bad, but the herbal/resiny flavor doesn’t go well with the dark malts.

Carlow O’Hara’s Double IPA

Yellow label with something that looks like a blob of snot - or another kind of gunk and some celtic ornaments.Pours slightly hazy yellow with small white head. Settles as thin layer of foam. Aroma is sweet and malty. Honey, grains and wet paper. Not especially strong. Medium carbonation and watery palate. Flavor is thin and watery. Medium sweet followed by sourness. Aftertaste is short and sour. I’ve tasted way better beers from Carlow. This is the tongue out of the window.
