Carlow O’Hara’s Irish Stout
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is roasted malts with vanilla and hint of dark fruit. Appearance is very dark mahogany--almost opaque black--with two finger-width light brown head with fair foamy lacing. Taste is sweet and bitter roasted malt, bordering on ash. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average-to-lively carbonation with bitter, roasted, dry finish. Overall, good but a bit more interesting aroma than taste, which is a little on the ashy side.

Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is fresh and hoppy with lemon and elderflower notes. Taste follows fresh and floral with a bit of malt underneath and a slightly bitter finish. Light, mineral body with a good amount of effervescence. Overall it’s easy drinking and refreshing but it lacks some aromatic hops.

Aromat kawowy, palony. W smaku lekko słodkie i mocno kawowe.

Jet black beer with low brown head that stays for quite some time. Aroma: very sweet, a lot of caramely, milky chocolate, some coffe, also some DMS (sweet greem peas from can). Taste: Medium sweet, light sour, light bitter. Caramel, chocolate, hint of porto, hint of cocoa. Palate: smooth, full bodied altough pretty dry (kept in Irish type of stout). Carbonation might be lower (it’s medium). Overall: ok beer, but I expected more. Also, in aroma there’s something just not right. I quess dms.

Kolor piwa czarny.

Bottled, from Za Popen’t Pivoteka, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Clear nut brown, small head. Peaty nose with some grapefruit. Dryish with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Peaty and roasty with some citrus. Mild resiny bitterness. Pretty much an Irish ale with extra hops.

W aromacie zdecydowanie dominują czekolada i kawa, później delikatna dębowa paloność, lekka wędzonka, kwaskowe nuty i jakiś dziwny ledwo wyczuwalny metaliczny zapach.

Taste is coffee, roast malts and a touch of vanilla. Really silky mouthfeel and low carbonation with a good, balancing bitter bite at the end. Lovely stout.

Barwa ciemnobrunatna, prawie czarna.

Clear amber color with off-white head. Aroma is mainly malty with some earthy hops. Taste is really balanced with some caramel malt and quite bitter and earthy finish. Light body with the specific minerality of British water. Overall it leans more towards a bitter than an IPA but it’s a decent ale.

Retrogosto do malte torrado.

The beer looks like a true Irish stout. The color of the beer is a lovely black jn the naked eye. With a strong light behind the beer, a nice ruby red glow is unveiled. The beer seems rather clears. On top of the beer, a minimal layer of almond conjured foam is formed. The bulk of the foam collapses, to leave a minimal creamy drape. The smell is lovely. It’s really a stout smell. It has mainly the sweet aromas of a stout. I smell sweet chocolate, mocha, coffee and some vanilla. I also smell some cherries and alcohol. All in all, a nice smell. I mis the roasted barley a little. This is present, but I wished it was a lot stronger. The smell had a little more of this. I taste done lovely bitter roast flavors. I love those flavors. I also taste some caramel, chocolate, mocha, vanilla and some licorice. There is also a little touch of cherry. The roast flavor had something salty. The beer has a nice bouquet of flavors and aromas. It’s very nice. The palate is nice. The beer has done nice tingly bubbles. This is lovely in combination with the stouty flavors and aromas. A lovely brew. I’ve been waiting to drink this for a kin get time. I’m glad I’ve waited till the right moment.
