Oudaen India Pale Ale
Sample from tap @ Utrechts Brouwers Fesitval 2016, with Zlotta, Caesar, Benzai & ShivanDragon. Crystal clear orange color. Off white head. Aroma’s: from the glass not much, light English hops. Retronasal: English hops, quite mild, light fruity. Flavor is light bitter, light grain. Light bodied. Finishes eventually rather bitter, slightly dry. Tap @ Oudaen, medium sample. Clear amber color, short frothy head. Aroma of grassy and spicy hop, some caramel malt, bit grainy. Almost like a german kellerbier. Soft to medium bitter in taste, citrussy, bit malty sweetness. Not spot on in style, but quite tasty. But thats because I like german kellerbier.

Tap @ Oudaen, medium sample. Clear amber color, short frothy head. Aroma is slight sweet, bit fruity of strawberry, slight citrus, bit grainy, slight spicy. Soft bitter taste, slight caramelly sweetness. The slight citrussy fruitiness makes it more refreshing. But I prefer their Ouwe Daen as a summer beer.

Bottle 750 ml, bought at the brewery and poured into a weizen glass at home. ABV 5% Very cloudy and muddy body, pale golden yellow in colour, with a tall white head, thick but with low retention, leaving very light lacing on the glass Aroma of wheat mostly, with a hint of coriander. Very faint. Taste has a lot of wheat malts, a bit grainy, very lighty fruity and yeasty. Bitter aftertaste. Medium thin body, okay carbonation. Overall quite drinkable on this warm day, but very atypical of the style. Still, slighty better than their filtered version.

Oudaen 3 Granen Herfstbock
On tap at the brewpub. Light brown in colour with a huge off white head. Thick with very good retention, leaving light lacing on the glass. Aroma is of caramel, with light notes of spices and stronger ones of alcohol. Taste begins sweet with caramel, a bit nutty, with obvious alcohol. Some hints of chocolate malts as well. Light bitter on the aftertaste with the alcohol being much more obvious now. Medium thin body, a bit low on the carbonation. Overall an average bock, the strong alcohol taste ruins it a bit.
