3.3 Cascade Stout A middling export stout, but got to try it at the brewery in their very pleasant garden, which increased its appeal. Context is key. Malty dark chocolate, not much sweetness. Lighter bodied than expected. Tried during first visit to Hobart in 2023 Tuesday, April 4, 2023

2.5 Cascade Pale Ale (Australia) Not the best pale ale, but I had to try a beer from the oldest brewery in Australia. Light yellow and clear. Minimal grassy hops, light corn sweetness. Tried at All Thai in Hobart in 2023. Saturday, April 1, 2023

2.7 Cascade Premium Light Pours amber with an oily white head. Aroma of rice and malt. Taste has a lot more flavor than I’d expect, grainy, some yeast. Palate has toasted malt on the nose, lingering. Quite good actually. Monday, October 17, 2022

1 Cascade Premium Light 30 August 2022. Splash Poolside Bar, Daydream Island. I’m continuing to drink my way through the beer list here on Daydream Island and next up is Cascade Premium Light. Slow brewed, full flavoured. At least that is what it states on the can. I’m pretty sure that this beer is no longer even brewed at the Cascade brewery in Tasmania any more, even though the brewery is the oldest operating brewery in Australia. According to the internet’s most reliable source (yes, I am talking about Wikipedia) this beer is the largest selling light beer in the country. I would not have thought that to be the case but there you go. While this beer may appeal to a broad range of the population as an alternative to the heavier in alcohol pale lagers it really does nothing for me and there are so many better low or even no alcohol beers out there in the marketplace at the moment. One thing that has remained a constant with Cascade Premium Light is the appearance of the Tasmanian tiger in the label, which makes this beer easily recognisable. Tuesday, August 30, 2022

3.6 Cascade Stout x Old Gold Export Stout Can. Black with a cm of tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chicory, chocolate, caramel. Medium bodied, smooth. Someone knows what they're doing here: the chocolate is bittersweet and just fills out the palate and supports the roasted flavours (which IMHO are a bit mean in normal Cascade Stout). Weedy bitter end. This is rather well done and - perhaps not all that surprisingly - reminiscent of Young's Double Chocolate Stout. I'll drink more of this. Wednesday, April 20, 2022

2.2 Cascade Premium Light Old Untappd checkin, November 30, 2017. Green glass bottle. Slight grain aroma, faint. Light on flavor, but a taste of sweet malts with a crisp finish. Unremarkable, but drinkable. Thursday, August 12, 2021

2 Cascade Premium Light 33cl bottle from Angkor Market. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. Not bad for a low alcohol beer. Friday, January 17, 2020

4 Cascade Bitter I quite like this one. Honey on bread is what I get taste-wise. Not particularly bitter but not a bad beer. $50 a carton at the brewery makes it decent value. Friday, December 27, 2019

2.3 Cascade Draught Tap (Sth Arm RSL). Sweet and plain but clean enough. Slightly earthy. Very low bitterness. Basic gulping lager - by no means the worst Australian example. Thursday, January 10, 2019

2.5 Cascade Pale Ale (Australia) This used to be my go to treat yourself beer over the summer 30 years ago. A change in style brewery owner and alcohol content have seen this become a fallen icon. Its biggest feature today ? Fizz. Bloody gas-y. Mark Shield the late celebrated critic of all alcoholic drinks would be turning in his grave. It was his go to beer. He was the one who got me on to it. Friday, December 28, 2018

3.8 Cascade Stout A straight up stout that doesn't mess around. Caramel aroma with flavours of chocolate and roasted barley. Rich and full-bodied, but not overly sweet or boozy. Pairs well with desserts or chocolate Tuesday, December 18, 2018

3 Cascade Premium Lager There is worse macro beers out there. Refreshing and slight floral aroma, but lacks any vibrancy, malt firmness or significant hop character Tuesday, December 18, 2018
