Hopworks Pig War White IPA

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, wheat, banana, pine, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque yellow/golden beer with slight yeast and with a slight/medium white/off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts, wheat, banana and pine; ends slightly bitter with hops and citrus.

Overall:
This beer is balanced, but rather different. The wheat and the soft hops make it kinda dull however.

Is clove, lemongrass, passion fruit, grapefruit, and citrus. Taste is sweet with light bitterness and a subtle finish. The wheat balances out the hop profile nicely. Appearance is a hazy gold with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Uit blik (0,5l) geschonken. Oranje-amberkleurig bier. Heerlijk!

Hopworks IPA
Sad to interrupt Throw Momma From the Train to crack open another beer but if it doesnít suck too much perhaps it ainít a bad thang. The headís okay, yellow orange bodyís okay. I smell the Portlandia brewhouse on this one, crowded on a friday night, long wooden picnic tables inside with hipsters and long beards handling the many taps behind the bar, that chick with all the piercings trying to enjoy all the craft beer like sheís some kind of conoisseur but really just wanting a decent joint and a few shots of vodka to space out on. Those overwrought onion rings from some kinda artisanal batter that really should taste good but are more bland than the kind you ate at the diner last saturday morning at 4am to beat that hangover. All sorts of hops come out when you sip this, fiddling with your iphone while the groups of the uni grads and must-be-seen late 20ís types debate various things like safe spaces and banning everything they donít agree with. Kind of a bitter finish, like take the peel off that lemon or something. Itís getting crowded and you sampled a few but the vibe of this place is just a little to in your face, not chill as youíd hoped, too many trying too hard to be too much. You finish it off and head down the street to that old irish pub where thereís another IPA, perhaps not as trendy, but the place is filled with old guys and a few old relaxed gals that can still hold a conversation and left their mobile phones at home. You order a round.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, tropical fruit, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with medium yeast and with a medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, orange and tropical fruit; ends slightly bitter with hops and citrus.

Overall:
This beer achieves a good balance between malts and hops, but could have been more deep and complex. Extremely drinkable and with an amazing flavour.

Hopworks IPX Single Hop - El Dorado
Location: 22 oz bottle obtained through Tavour Appearance: Apple juice amber. Hazy. Small head of white bubbles. Nose: Citrus hops primary with some floral notes secondary Taste: a nice balance of citrus hops with some decent malt sweetness. Perhaps some more delicate aspects of floral hops. Body: thinner than medium. Maybe a bit on the too thin side Parting thoughts: Nice Citrus IPA that is structured well for overall flavor. a tad thin on the mouthfeel for me overall.

Hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and a good minerally crispness. Light malts, modestly sweet, trace of caramel. Hops are orange, orange peel, light spice and grapefruit. Tangy bitterness before an airy finish. Citric peel dominated IPA. Nice.

Hopworks Gear Up
Draft pour pint at Special Brews. Pours a cloudy pale golden color with a thin fizz head. Inviting hop aroma. Flavor is fruity hops, with a clean, low bitter finish. Easy IPA here. If I did end up with a 6 pack of HUBís first foray, Iíd be very much okay with it. Tropical late linger. Good IPA overall.

Draft at SB. Pours a cloudy bright medium gold with a loose and sudsy whitish head. Bright tropical fruit nose, plenty of grapefruit to go with pineapple and blood orange on top of lightly toasted caramel. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Hopworks Brouwerís 6th Anniversary Imperial Oatmeal Stout
Sample at Brouwerís Cafe during "6 Degrees of Inebriation" on 04/09/2016. Black pour with a medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with a roasty malt and coffee character, with some cocoa and oaky vanilla in the background. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Hopworks Urban Razzle Dazzle
Tap at HUB A: Very red with a thin white head. N: Raspberry, lemon zest, grapefruit, white peppercorn, earth, touch of pine, some cherry, vinous grape, and watermelon. T: Quite tart, moderate sweetness. M: Crisply carbonation, light body, no alcohol - as one would hope. O: Very nice Berliner. Though itís not overly complex, I delight in the raspberry flavor and itís still well composed and very easy to drink on a hot afternoon.

Hopworks IPX Single Hop - Simcoe
Draught at Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar (W. Broadway), Vancouver
Hazy golden color with compact head. The hoppy aroma is nice but mild. Delicate crackery malt flavor, quite dry mouthfeel, the hops are resiny, but less fruity than expected from Simcoe.
Not as fresh as it should taste. But still nice.

Hopworks Motherland - Barrel Aged
Draft 10 oz pour at Special Brews. 2014 vintage. Fun to find the barrel aged version up here. Was featured in a recent brewers night that I missed. Well, kinda missed. Iím still trying the beer. Pours black with a tan foam head. Aroma comes off as sour dark fruit. Surprised this isnít sour in flavor, for how sour the aroma is. Flavor is a bit doughy. Hard to identify the barrel. Dark fruit. Tart element, but barely. Some vanilla. Slight boozy finish. Overall, an excellent RIS, with very little to complain about.

Bottle. Lots of dried fruits, plums, raisins, caramel, light roastiness (somewhere underneath) and chocolate to top it. Full bodied, moderately carnbonated. Good mouthfeel, the beer is smooth, finish is lightly sweet. Good, I prefer more agressive amd roasty, but that was just fine.

Hopworks Abominable Winter Ale
473 ml. can. Canned on 13OCT2015. Great art. Lightly hazy orange amber with a creamy off-white head. Nose is milky yeast mixed in with mellow pine hops, orange rind & low toffee sweetness. Taste is mellow pine hops, orange peel, some milky yeast leading into a pleasantly sweetish vanilla, toffee & butterscotch malt finish. Creamy body,Ö Quite lovely, great mix of USA hops & sweetish malts, works really well. Feels like something that Stone would be proud of. I am really dinging the sweetness in the back, drinks really well. Age might have mellowed it a bit but I think that I might actually prefer this one like this with muted hops. I would definitely repeat buy this sucker if it was local etc. Drinks really well, very nice.
