Hopworks Survival 7-Grain Stout
Aromat: przyjemne połączenie palonych słodów, czekolady i kawy. Niestety trochę utlenione.

Wygląd: barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta z brązową, drobno pęcherzykową pianą, obfitą i dosyć trwałą.

Smak: raczej wytrawna podstawa (choć i słodycz z czasem się uaktywnia), z nutą kwaskowości pochodzącą od ciemnych słodów. Paloność, czekolada gorzka i mleczna, melano i sporo kawy. Goryczka umiarkowana, słodowa, przyjemna. Średnia pełnia, umiarkowane wysycenie i gładki, wytrawny finisz z nutą kwaskową i lekko alkoholową.

Wielosłodowość to niewątpliwa zaleta tego piwa, choć o niektórych słodach dotąd nawet nie słyszałem. Szkoda tylko tego utlenienia, bo mogłoby być wyżej.

Hopworks IPA
Hopworks’ flagship beer, an organic IPA, from a 50 cl can. Thickly cobweb-lacing, egg-white, moussy head with good edge retention and leaving cloudy patches in the middle, over a cloudy deep orange blonde beer with peachy hue. Extremely fruity bouquet of freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with mango juice, lychee, fresh lemon zest, yellow passion fruit, mandarin, cherimoya, lime blossom, honey, more subtle hints of pear, light pine, red curry, tonic water, rosewater, biscuit. Crisp and vivid onset, a basket of fruit including orange, guava, passion fruit and mango, sweetish and sourish and completely refreshing, in a somewhat sharp and minerally carbonated environment but in this case, this only adds to the refreshment on a hot summer day like today. Supple, juicy malt body ensues, nicely caramelly sweetish and a tad bready, providing more than sufficient structure for the hops, which manifest their bitterness early on only to grow in intensity towards the finish, as expected from an IPA. Tonic water- and wormwood-like, resinous, long bitterness dries the finish as good as completely and still manages to refrain from becoming overly harsh, while the lush exotic aromas of tropical citrus, tropical flowers and tropical spices rise up retronasally, bringing things to an utterly aromatic, beguiling end. What a beauty... Probably among the best organic beers I had so far and certainly a top notch IPA in my book, well-crafted structurally, very generous and offering both drying, thirst-quenching bitterness and sumptuous, exotic fragrance. It may have something to do with the weather - I really could use a good IPA today and I’m a sucker for citrus-forwarded IPAs in general - but this is way better than I expected.

On tap at Crowbar, april 22nd 2016. Hazy golden body with a tiny white head. Mild flowery aroma with spicy hops. Taste is dry and malty, bitter, very weak hop fruitiness, with a short citric finish. I’d expect a bit more hop punch, though it’s not a bad beer.

Hopworks Abominable Winter Ale
On tap at Kick. An unclear, almost murky orangey brown beer with an off-white head. Sourish, caramel malty aroma with a nice spiced touch. Cellar hints, pine cones and a touch of alcohol. It’s full bodied, lightly warming and nicely carbonated, rather dry, with caramel, prunes, some cellar, a pleasant spice touch and piney, bitter hops. Lasting sourish, malty aroma with pine cones, bitterness and some warming alcohol. Not a summer beer, that’s for sure, but it’s a fine brew indeed. Pleasant combo of sourness, bitterness and malts. 160716

Can. It pours hazy deep orange with a creamy off white head. Spicy hops and caramel malts with crackers and some floral notes. Light pine and citrus with sweet caramel malty flavor notes. Lots of malty notes but a high amount of hops makes this very balanced. Great stuff.

Hopworks Razzle Dazzle
On tap @ Henrik. Looks really nice this. Red warm, almost a little glowing raspberry colored with a mild cloudiness and a medium sized pinkish softly lacing head. Smells at first quite grainy. Some red sour berries. Cherries, almond juice. Not the most inviting aroma, but fair enough I guess. Tastes quite fruity, artificial. Lots of strawberries, sour raspberries and almond. Not directly good in any way. It has a thin oily texture in the mouth and it’s just below average on the small prickling carbonation. This was a good old downer. 07.07.2016

Hopworks Abominable Winter Ale
Damn. This was brewed in December of 2015 and I thought it was a winter warmer style beer. Still kicking ass this is an old school near DIPA, with a think toffee and cookie body balanced with a big citrus and grapefruit hop onslaught and spicey pine finish with some sweet malt. Really good and amazing it still drinks so good at this age.
