2.1 Furano Dark Ale Tap at Keyaki. Burnt caramel in the nose, some manure too. Cloudy dark brown. Flavor is a bit burnt and sour with some plums. Seems like extract brew that burnt on the stove. Bitter-ass finish. Terrible. Monday, May 28, 2018

2.8 Furano Ji-Beer Weizen Tap at Keyaki. Perfumy banana nose, like an Easter banana candy, cloves. Orange and hazy. Sweet flavor of candy banana. Think and sweet. Drinkable and the best of the set but probably not fully attenuated. Monday, May 28, 2018

2.2 Furano Ji-Beer Pale Ale Tap at Keyaki. Nose of caramel and soap. Oily orange-amber color. Some warm caramel malt flavor, spicy, strange, lame, soapy bitter and nasty. Monday, May 28, 2018

2.5 Furano Ki Pilsner Wow. 11 year gap for these guys! Tap at Keyaki. Cleaning fluid in the nose, some citrus. Shiny golden color. Malty and sweet with some lemon. Pretty lame but we were able to finish the small cup. Monday, May 28, 2018

3.1 Furano Yami Dark My Bottom Line: Raisins sweeten the roast of this sustaining and drinkable Dunkel, only to see themselves balanced out by careful herbal hops. This would be a nice introductory beer for those with dark beer phobia. Further Personal Perceptions: -A creamy head of foam garnishes the darkest burgundy. -Flavors are shy like those of their Pilsener, but it is not as watery. -The maltiness could’ve been more expressive, but all works in this well-integrated partnership of flavors. On tap at the brewery restaurant. Thursday, July 26, 2007

3 Furano Ki Pilsner My Bottom Line: This easily-downed Pilsener serves its main purpose efficiently, but its feeble herbal, spicy hops and watery passages don’t do much more than quench. A crisper maltiness would’ve taken it much further. Further Personal Perceptions: -The foam sticks to the really light golden. -Herbal hops subtly linger. -Prickly carbonation is fine for drinkability. -There is balance in its frailty. -Milky passages add some complexity. -This is very cleanly brewed, just not that flavorful. -Served quite cold, it was at least a decent quaffer.
