North Island Haruyoi
Hazy light amber, medium head. Has a tropical fruit nose, a bit ripe, maybe a touch of diacetyl. Has a mellow hoppy accent, def diacetyl in the back.

North Island Mari-O Bro.
Draught at Burgermania. A bit of an odd name as the caramalt really dominates the maris otter base, sweet caramel all the way with some biscuit notes, not too sweet or cloying on the finish. Still a decent brown ale I guess, may have been even better paired with pulled pork rather than burger.

Keykaki spring 2016. Light grassy nose with some faint citrus notes and crackery malts. Clean, crisp and refreshing. Somewhere between a session IPA and hoppy blonde. Body felt more blonde like. Not a bad little beer, but not really anything amazing.

Keyaki. Aroma is grainy. Taste is not so exciting, little grassy hoppiness. Alright. Earthy. Think I missed something as everyone else seemed to like it more than me.

Tap at Burger Mania Ebisu. Deep brown with slight amber highlights. Fresh baked bread all over the nose. Great malty, toffee-like notes on the palate. Well-balanced and a dry finish. Very nice vehicle for Maris Otter. HIdes the abv well. One of the better North Island seasonals of late.

On tap at Devil Craft Hamamatsucho, Tokyo. Hazy pale golden with a modest, white head. Fruity and wheaty aroma with notes of slightly greenish bananas, cloves and hints of citrus and yeast. North Island Hokkaido Komugi Ji-Biru Weizen
Bottle shared in Yoyogi park. Decent wheat character with an earthy feel, maybe not as impressive as their Coriander White for example but good enough I guess. It seems that Japanese wheat is working well these days with local beers, much better than local hops at least.

North Island Dunkel Weizen
Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown with a finger of head that lingers throughout. Cacao and salami on the nose. Super light body, almost watery, with average carbonation. Very light banana and smokiness on the palate. Very interesting take on a dunkelweizen. Not enough weizen qualities but the smokiness is an interesting touch. Green banana on the finish.

North Island Kamifu 100 Pale Ale
Draught at Gremlin. Quite hop forward but hops don’t shine that much though, mostly grassy and piney notes with a touch of citrus and bitter finish, body being almost watery. Fairly unimpressive, I’d much rather stick to the classic Kin-Oni.

North Island Kamifu 100 Pale Ale
Tap at Gremlin. Light orange and pine notes on the nose with some malt. Taste is grainy and malt-forward. Some light pine and grapefruit on the palate. Harsh bitter finish. Very simplistic pale ale without much Cascade flavor even though it’s a single hop beer. I’m guessing the Cascade hops grown in Kamifu just weren’t that great to begin with.

North Island / Aqula Short Summer Session Ale
Other places online (Untappd) seem to be listing this as an aqula beer but they also have a Summer Session Ale. This was listed as a North Island x Aqula collaboration at Bungalow’s 3rd Anniversary Event. It poured a light matte gold with a thin soapy head. The aroma was a minty orange and grape fruity hoppiness with some malt sweetness. Medium bodied & fairly smooth this beer was easy to drink & a satisfying session beer. The taste is chewey breadiness & fruits - good.
