Applewood Farm Hopped Amber Cider
2016-03-18. Crisp dark amber yellow body, headless. Aroma is relatively mild, greenish hops and light veg. Flavour is lightly acidic, moderate Apple lightly tannic. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Tasty, hops may have faded a bit waiting for us to get to it. 7/3/7/3/14-15 Can from the winery via Ferris.

Applewood Farm Iced Cider
Deep amber-gold pour. The nose is laden with honey-glazed fruit, soft spice and a bit of acidity. Some light tartness and a bit of cooked fruit character. There’s a little bit of light fruit and some apricot notes as well. Chewy, sweet yet well balanced by tartness. Lovely.

A basic sparkling apple, a good spicy nose, and a character of white wine (which we know for sure is not in there). Very good winter beverage.Tasty but also must be shared several ways.

Very pale. Alcohol comes to the nose first, floral fruity and very rich. Bit woody, rounded mature character. Warms the throat.

[Bottle (750ml)] Obviously not the whole bottle. Pours a clear light yellow with no head. Lovely aroma of honey and floral notes along with a touch of spice. Flavour also of honey and floral notes, sweet and simple and perfect. Alcohol is totally hidden, which is dangerous. Average bodied. Fantastic stuff.

Tasty stuff, ageing has added to richness. Berry in the aftertaste. This is up there with the top Quebec ice ciders. Bottle from the farm.

Applewood Farm Ella’s Ice
Tall, skinny bottle poured and split at Matt’s. Listed at 12.4% Pours a dark glow red color with no head. Wonderful cherry, strawberry jam aroma. Mixed berry, cherry, and grape flavor all dominates the apple. Finishes slightlybtart, heavy fruit, and lingers forever. First ice cider for me. Excellent experience for sure.

Pale yellow color with vanishing head. A carbonated Mead? Well... Delicate apple pie (touch of cinnamon), mildly sweet, wisely balanced. Very pleasant.

12.4% ABV, skewed refractomer reading 27°B

Dark amber and ruby color. Smells immediately of syrupy strawberries. Sweet and very syrupy, but with a good degree of acidity; the strawberry syrup flavor is very strong, and the alcohol is comforting.
Very nice idea, excellent product.

375mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a tiny off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of strawberries, caramel apples and some treacle. Flavour is very sweet, with loads of sweet strawberries and apples in perfect harmony, some gentle acidity, and a little caramel. High residual sweetness, but never cloying. Unusual ice cider, but very delicious.

Given to us as a gift from Applewood after we bought a bunch of cases of Mac Meade for our wedding 2.5 years ago. Aged well. Minimal oxidation - noticable but pleasant. Aroma is simple, honey and alcohol. Taste much more complex, and well balanced. Cranberries, currants, strawberries honey. Nice acidity to back it all up. Well done guys! Sorry the show is over.

750mL bottle, pours a clear blonde with no head. Nose is very spicy and apple-y, with cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg and who knows what else, along with caramelized apples. Flavour is very spicy and only lightly sweet for a mead, with dry caramel apples, coriander, nutmeg and a little cinnamon, and some honey. Wouldn’t think this would be good on paper, but all the different elements blend wonderfully. Really nice.

Flavour is complex as hell, with loads of treacle and honey. The depth and complexity is astounding here. The booze is present, but very acceptable. Elegant and complex. Simply phenomenal.

Pale blond color. The aroma is flowery and alcoholic, warming. Mellow, sweet; I get similar feeling as in limetree German meads (linden). Balanced and harmonious. It does a good job hiding the alcohol.

Bottle from the winery. Aroma is quite spicy, lots of. Nutmeg, and cardamon, with some cinnamon, reminds me of nutmeg mixed with iced cider. Finish is quite sweet, and the spices dominate to the point where the only thing the apples and honey add is sweetness. Dangerously drinkable for 10%.

Clear and bright, with the slightest hint of yellow. Lovely aroma. Of floral Honey, apples, and pears with some subtle tartness and vinous quality you’d get from a white wine. Body is nice, carb is soft. Finish is quite sweet, but not cloying. Lovely crisp apples and pears round out the intense sweetness. Great stuff.

Dark amber color, bright, thick. Strong nose of caramelized pineapple. Thick mouthfeel, a bit too syrupy; the flavor brings a lot of stewed apples, prunes, raisins, concentrated pineapple; correct acidity, but less than other Ice Ciders from Quebec. The alcohol is well hidden.
Excellent.

Applewood Farm Iced Cider
2 oz sample from bottle (375 ml). 2010 harvest. From SlovakSniper, thanks!

Appearance: Clear bright orangey-copper with nice alcohol legs.

Aroma: More caramel than apples forward, but there’s still some caramelized apples of course as well as mild spiciness (cinnamon mostly), hints of vanilla and floral notes.

Taste: Medium to heavy sweetness with loads of caramel and caramelized apples, moderate acidity, mild spiciness, vanilla notes, a bit of alcohol and honeyed notes.

Palate: Medium to full body. Oily and syrupy mouthfeel. Warming finish with mild spiciness. Mouth coating caramelized apples.

Overall: Extremely well balanced ice cider with a unique profile. Nice mix between caramel (not brown sugar like many ice ciders) and other components. Very tasty stuff.

Vintage 2010. Complexe. Excellent.

2010 vintage. 375mL bottle, pours a pretty clear brandy-like caramel colour. Nose is luxurious, with loads of caramel apple sweetness, pineapple and a subtle tartness underneath. Flavour is similar, with caramelized apple and pineapple sweetness (unusual that this is so pineapple-y), with medium-high sweetness for an ice cider, and absolutely no tartness. Really viscous palate, with a lovely mix of fruits that is unusual for an ice cider. Very decadent stuff. Fantastic, unique one.

2015-03-12. Crisp yellow body headless, syrupy legs on the glass. 3+ Aroma is sweetly floral, sweet mild honey character moderate alcohol. Honey character grows bolder on return visits. Flavour is quite sweet up front, syrupy honey sweetness is quite pleasant, with some interesting fruity accents that I can’t quite place. Surprisingly delicate at first but after swallowing the alcohol dries out the palate and warms the throat. Very smooth medium bodied palate, no carbonation. Deceptively drinkable. Bottle, 2007 Vintage from Applewood.

Bottle shared in Hoboken - thanks to Andy. Pours clear, deep gold. The nose holds rich, ripe apples, hints of pepper, a bit of dry smoke. Hugely sweet with lots of ripe, juicy apple, then a big smack of chili pepper burn. Full bodied, oily. Hot chili burn on the finish with undertones of sugary, ripe apples and hints of caramelised sugars. Quite novel, but the chili heat is too much for me.
