Del Norte Orale
The obvious comparison here isn’t with Pacifico or Corona, but Manana. A slightly sweeter version and a little less impressive.

A pretty solid lager. Light and slightly sweet. Tried this before it was retired on a trip to Denver in 2011.

transferred rating. Brewed seemingly more to approximate mass market mexican lagers than to offer something new. The corn sweetness and light body are there. Ably crisp at the end.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilburs Fort Collins. Plucked this retired whale dong from the old beer section. Fuck yeah. Pours a clear yellow appearance with a small white head. Huge DMS, butter, lemon, bullshit aroma. Tangy lemon, slightly tart, watery, fuck you flavor. WHAT THE FUCK. Every malt liquor I’ve had tonight (and I’ve had quite a few, bra) has been better than this bullshit.

Despite winning awards, this beer is a total miss for me by style. No sweetness in the beginning, no body to speak of...a lingering finish...all things that are the opposite of what should be there. Pass on this one.

Light straw color with fizzy head that has moderate retention. Strong aroma of corn dominates. Corn and sweet grain taste with very little hops. Thin mouthfeel. Highly carbonated. Not very good at all. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy amber with a creamy lasting white head. Nice bock aroma of earthy biscuit grains and the subtlest leafy hop twang. Taste was nice and sweet and full, with some biscuity grains, subtle caramel sweetness, cracker malt, and a semi-dry lager-yeast finish. Pretty dang swell.

Del Norte Mañana
Del Norte Manana has a relatively thin, cream-colored, soapy head and a very cloudy, opaque, amber appearance, in which one can observe some tiny bubble streams. Thin, yet decent, lacing is left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet dark-roasted malt and even some slightly turned fruit. Brown bread is detected in the taste and smell, and one also picks up chocolate powder, figs, and caramel in the flavor. There is a strong chocolate back-taste to this beer (actually, stronger than maybe any beer I’ve ever sampled). Hop bitterness is noticeable, but mild. Mouthfeel is medium, and Del Norte Manana finishes crisp, semi-dry, refreshing, and enjoyable. Overall, this is a real winner, and I rate it most excellent! RJT

Del Norte Cinco
Del Norte Cinco has a thin, stark-white head and a very hazy, lemon-yellow appearance, with lots of relatively large gray chunks floating throughout. Some lacing is evident. The aroma is of the typical Mexican style, meaning pungent, sweet grain. Taste is of lemons, for whatever reason, with sweet grain and an overall light beer wateriness. Mouthfeel is as expected, light and watery, and Del Norte Cinco finishes crisp, refreshing, highly drinkable, and mostly dry. For a light beer, it’s a sure winner, and for beer overall it’s not bad. I think it’s worth checking out. RJT

Del Norte Orale
Del Norte Orale has a thin-to-medium, white head and a hazy, straw appearance, with some bubbles and minimum lacing. The aroma is faint, but one can detect sweet, sugary, lightly-roasted grains and a hint of lemon. Flavor is of lemony, sweet grain, white bread, and some hop bitterness in the back taste. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Del Norte Orale finishes crisp, refreshing, and mostly dry. It’s a simple, yet enjoyable beer. RJT

Pour on tap at Art and Ale, clear yellow pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of corn, grain and husky notes, some wet grain as well, hints of oats, slight spice notes. Taste is a mix of sweet corn and wet grain, some slight grass and biscuit, finishing fairly watery, highly carbonated. Not much good going on here.

Del Norte El Guapo Lager
draft at Park Burger. clear light caramel body with a white head. average retention. moderately doughy nose of being lagered, though it’s still fairly clean and has a pale and vienna malt toastiness and ample firmness. hops are muted in the nose but provide balanced bitterness for the toasty and honey-accented malt. rigid carbonation and body with good acid make it enjoyable to throw down in gulps.

12 oz. Clear brown-copper with a small ring of bubbles. Nose is toffee, dry grass and a touch of dark cherry. Taste is the same mix, plus some earthy chocolate and roast. Light-medium body is well balanced, has low carbonation and is pretty drinkable.

Del Norte Orale
12 oz. Pale gold with a small ring of creamy bubbles. Aroma is light dry grass and husky caramelized grain. Taste is the same, but leans a nit more to the dry grassy hop, which is nice. Also some metallic notes show up later. Light-medium body is soft, but tingly, and has a delicate balance. Pretty decent if you must indulge in the pale lager style, but I can’t imagine there wouldn’t be much better ales wherever this beer is sold.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours clear dark copper with a creamy/fizzy beige head. Aromas of darker roast malt with notes of medium dark fruit. Approaching medium body. Flavor is definitely roast, definitely with fruit, and I can’t help thinking I’m tasting a little pineapple. Plus some lighter pitted fruits. Very nice drink. Finishes balanced and verging upon bitter.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours clear copper with a few beige bubbles. Light caramel aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is definitely roast malt with some very light noble hop. I think it would stand up to most Viennas. There’s a herb/yeast/spice complement that’s fairly pleasant. Still, it’s hardly bitter at all.

Bottle from Half Time. Who touts their beer as having "corn sweetness"? Pours dishwater gold with a slight white head. Corn aroma. Med minus body. There’s a strange, but definite bitter, but there’s this not so great sweet aspect. Finish is sweetish with herbal hop. Very different.

Bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with white fizzy head. Unlike its cousin, the Cinco, it actually has a somewhat pleasant grainy profile to it both in aroma and flavor. Light, water, over carbonated body. Over all, non offensive, light tastiness and sessionable.

Bottle. Pours straw yellow with fizzy white head. Not much aroma to speak of and flavor is that of an every day adjunct lager with very balanced hop. Wouldn’t be a bad beer to have by the pool. Not offensive in anyway, it is what it is.

Amber, very nice head. Aroma is a bit of rind of lime. Taste is lots of roasted malt and not very much bitterness. There’s some toast or crusty, earthiness going on. I’m enjoying this brew as I was expecting something more industrial.

If ever a quaffer this one is it! So easy to drink and so crisp, refreshing and flavorful. Watch out brews from Mexico, this one will definitely give you a run for the peso! Forget the lime and sale and drink it straight in order to enjoy its delicious flavor! I just might have found a new brew for my BBQ/fish fry! Now that I’ve enjoy a couple of these on the slow savor, it’s time to quaff a few cause these are sooo good!

Sampler at Brewers Rendezvous 7/9/11. Pours a medium white head, over a clear amber (SRM 7-8) body.....nose is cereal, malt.....taste is cereal, malt, with a hint of toffee/caramel sweetness....mouth feel light, carbonation low. This is a drinkable light beer with the alcohol well hidden. It is neither complex nor particularly interesting in either aroma or flavor. BJCP 6/3/10/4/6
