3.2 Monte Castro Dorada Bottle, thanks Gazza!, november 07. Slightly hazy pale golden/ straw color with a medium white head and swift carbonatation. Bittersweet, salty flavor with some citric and methallic notes. So so. Some hay notes. Mouthfeel is light to medium, a bit watery but with a refreshing acidic tang. Nice. Maybe a bit too fizzy. Very shy aroma with some slight hay and grassy notes. Curious, singular blond ale. Tuesday, February 12, 2008

3.3 Monte Castro Negra Bottle, thanks Gazza!, november 07. Clear, very dark brown color with some ruby hues and a medium, beige head. Grainy, cereal aroma with some coffee and toast. Strong, malty, toasted malts flavor with some roast/ charcoal notes. Medium to full mouthfeel, filling and solid. A bit clumsy though. Nice, sturdy stout. Tuesday, February 12, 2008

1.9 Monte Castro Roja Bottle, Thanks Gazza!!, november 07. Clear, copper golden color with effervescent carbonatation and a huge, fluffy white head. Yeasty, phenollic notes with a vinegar touch aroma. Phenollic/ sweet flavor with a slight medicinal note. Rather nasty. Medium to thin palate, slightly watery with non existant finish. Failed attempt at an amber ale. Tuesday, February 12, 2008

2.8 Monte Castro Negra Bottle at El Galpón market, BsAs. A pretty standard Argentine dark beer - dryness, charcoal, malt, chocolate. This fades into a smooth toasty malt finish which is sociable enough if lacking a touch of class. Saturday, October 27, 2007

4 Monte Castro Dorada Bottle from El Galpón market, BsAs. A great little beer this, it contains wheat which gives a touch of sweetness (which Argentines like) yet it also has a load of other tastes - honey, malt, some hoppiness and some refreshing acidity. A great beer to cool down with in 30 degree sun, and very characterful for a pale brew. Excellent stuff. Saturday, October 27, 2007

1.1 Monte Castro Roja Bottle from El Galpón market, Federico Lacroze 4181, BsAs (Wed and Sat, 09:00-13:00). Sadly this bottle was badly infected and so I can’t really judge the beer - although there was toffee and malt underneath the sourness. Sad. Saturday, October 27, 2007
