Mission Dark Seas Imperial Stout - Espresso
Taps opaque coffee sable with a thin but serviceable buff head. Quality coffee dominates the aroma but shares the stage with roast malt and subtle chocolate notes. Flavor is mostly coffee plus roast malt and molasses, and a peep of semi-sweet chocolate. Mouthfeel delivers firm body and good fizz. Explore the dark seas!

Mission Expedition Stout
Taps coffee brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma delivers roast malt, chocolate and molasses tones, a bit sweet. Flavor features mocha, roast malt, molasses, and shy licorice notes. Mouthfeel offers body that seems thin for a stout, but lively and lasting fizz. Make an expedition for one - heck, order a sampler!

Mission Dunkelweizen
Taps hazy, barely translucent chocolate; not much head, but that must be due to the pour. Aroma offers roast malt, horehound and caramel notes. Mouthfeel features good body and average fizz.

Mission Amber Ale
Taps clear amber with a nice, rather fine-bubbled pale buff head. Aroma presents notes of fresh malt, resiny hops and pear. Flavor ramps up the hops and adds a snip of apple for a pleasing and quite drinkable ale. Body is firm and features lively fizz and a woody hop finish. Go for the amber!

Mission Plunder IPA
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of diacetyl, peanut brittle, lemon juice, artificial candies. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, velvety/oily texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Somewhat artificial and candyish / buttery aroma with virtually no hop intrigue. Just barely drinkable, borderline unpleasant.

Mission Dark Seas Imperial Stout
Aromat: palony, czekolady, melano, lukrecji i sporo estrów (śliwki, banany). Może nie przytłaczają, ale są wyraźne. Alkohol także obecny, jednak nie przeszkadza.

Wygląd: barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, umiarkowanej wielkości i szybko opadająca. To najsłabszy punkt tego piwa. Nieco oleista konsystencja.

Smak: umiarkowana słodycz, złamana kwaskowością, melano, kakao, czekolada, paloność, ale subtelna, bardziej nuty opiekane, no mocno spieczone.

Light for an IPA, more like a nice hoppy pale, even at 7%, but I mean that in a good way. Only lightly bitter, but aromatic and flavorful, citrys and pine with some florals on the nose as well. Easy drinking and fresh tasting.

Mission Dark Seas Imperial Stout - Bourbon Barrel
Boozy, but smoother than the original. Body a little light for such a high abv beer, but the ease of it going down makes up for it being a touch thin. Vanilla, bourbon on the nose. Light chocolate and anise flavor too. Lightly bitter and sweet.

0.355 l bottle shared by markoijelena, thanks! Pitch black with a thin, light brown layer. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma dark chocolate, some coffee, molasses, toasted nuts and some caramel. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, some coffee, nougat, toasted nuts and some vanilla, followed by a medium long, slightly roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Moreish, tasty and superbly balanced, maybe a bit sweet. Somehow reminds me of Jopen’s Houten Haarlemmer.

Draft 16oz pour in The Biergarden, Encinitas on 8th May 2016. Amber/orange body, off-white head. Tropical fruit aroma with citrus leanings, taste was taken over by the citrus flavoured hops with a mild maltiness that tempered the bitterness a little. Decent.

Mission Cortez Gold
May 27th, 2014 - Coming in a giant can, perhaps reminiscent of a column of Aztec coins, is Cortez Gold from Mission Brewery. True to name, the brew is a beautiful gold, hazy with a chill pushed on the liquid by the aluminum metal of the can. Despite the cold, a strong scent of Belgian yeast esters, clove, and maybe to its detriment, popcorn butter, fill the olfactory. I personally find this vitiation delicious, and without hesitation gave it a taste test. The palate is light and agile, though the mouthfeel is a bit flat, especially given the crispness and daintiness of the flavors, which include mostly tortilla and corn. And the aftertaste deflates too early, leaving far too many flavors that remind me of pale lagers. This might be a good transitional brew for consumers to break old drinking habits from decades past, but it lacks either depth or refinement from a crafty perspective.

Hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has good fine carbonation. Airy malts, a trace of sweetness. Light and thin hops - orange and orange peel, touches of spice and pine. Light finish. Perfectly decent IPA but after tasting their DIPA and Pale Ale, I was hoping for much more here.

Mission Hard Root Beer
Ok, this one was tough!! It’s a bad beer, but a wonderfully crafted, beautifully conceived beverage, almost evil in its subversive potential! Likely the most awesome "hard" soda I’ve ever had. So DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY!!! 7%ABV. Tapped out dark brown. 38ºSRM. Nose was herbal and sweet and entirely what you’d expect of a good root beer. No significant beery aroma. Mouthfeel was watery and carbonated and like soda. Palate was flat and sweet with a pleasant creamy flavor running under the sweet, herbal and sasparilla, caramel flavors for a root beer. Local tasting note: Sarsi. Finish is sweet.
