Very nice coloured beer, with a heavy and strong bitter finish. It tastes like a pale ale but somewhat more edgy and spicy, not too many hop variants, but pretty straightforward. But a decent beer, definitely!

Near black. Grainy nose and flavor shows a little abv, which is weird for an 8.5%er. Dark fruit, roast malt and cocoa/anise. OK overall, lacking for an impy.

Southern Oregon Black Heart
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, anise, licorice, alcohol and a bit of coffee. Full-bodied; Strong rich malt flavours with some cereal, alcohol, grain, oak, metal and a bit of earth noticeable. Aftertaste shows the anise and malt the strongest with some nice molasses and deep sugars right behind. Overall, a decent beer that absolutely isn’t anything special, but has some decent flavours and it’s body is okay. Nothing complex, but an average to below-average Imperial Stout, for sure. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Made in Oregon (PDX Terminal C) in Portland, Oregon on 05-May-2015 for US$5,25 sampled at home in Washington on Christmas Day, 25-December-2016.

22 oz. 2014 bottle served in a goblet. Pours clear dark reddish-brown; dark enough to look essentially black and opaque in the glass. Modest size head that is semi-durable and leaves little lacing. Aroma: chocolate, spicy hops, molasses and dark roasted grains. Flavor: simple but solid, with moderate strength and very good balance. Hop presence peaks mid-taste. Feel: full body with well chosen, near medium carbonation.

Southern Oregon Woodshed Red

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, bread, fruit, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque dark orange/brown beer with medium yeast and with a slight/medium off-white/beige head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and fruit; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with bread, hops and citrus.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. The start of the beer is great, but it gets dull and dry rather quick. The aroma could have been a lot stronger too. Decent beer overall, but could have been way better.

Bottle:   Pale hazy straw, thin foamy white head, spotty lacing.   Very faint pithy like citrus hop nose.   Not too bright.   Soft hoppiness on the tongue, very faint bitterness.   Not as much aroma and flavor as others.   Slightly dank as well.   Simply comes across as a lighter Pale Ale.   Sometimes these beers remind of what I would call Small IPA.   Its like half IPA and half water.   This one didnt have the aroma and flavor and the soft bitterness that most have.   Meh...

(bottle, 65cl) Hazy, golden colour with a short and off-white foamy head. Mildly biscuity and bready malty aroma with hints of caramel and notes of German hops, including herbal and delicately woody accents. Hearty bready malt character with notes of biscuits and caramel, accompanied by herbal hoppy spice; moderately sweet and mildly hop bitter finish with herbal and slightly tannic accents. 08.VII.15

Best of the few SO beers I’ve tried. Classic American porter with coffee and chocolate notes, and a touch of hop bite and smoke. Drinks a little thin, otherwise solid.
