Ugly Tree Red Ale
Second inauguration beer as Ugly Tree Red! On draught at the brewpub in Waverly, Minnesota. Pours a clear reddish amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates clean with no film or ring. Aroma of very light and subdued caramel malt, some grassy hops and a touch of pear. Taste is very light bodied, water-like texture with flavors of thin caramel malt, some mild grassy hops with a touch of herbs. Finish has a mild black pepper aftertaste that quickly disappears after the finish. Though served in a frosted pint glass, a warm glass will hold thin ring. I liked the mild pepper aftertaste that would go well with a mexican dish but I would like to try this amber with just a little more body and malt flavor.

Ugly Tree Pilsener
Inauguration beer as Ugly Tree Light! On draught at the brewpub in Waverly, Minnesota. Pours a clear light straw blonde pils with some carbonation bubbles in frosted pint glass. White head dissipates immediately to a clean top with no ring or film. Aroma of light white bread and grassy hops with a touch of salt. Taste is very light bodied, nearly water-like with just barely a hint of crystal golden grain malt and some hay. Finish is very light bodied, a crisp, too clean cut with no aftertaste. Not for the hopheads or stout lovers, but ideal for a summer slammer for when it is 100+ F degrees outside.
