3.2
Grand Canyon Black Iron India Pale Ale
Taps clear golden with a decent buff head that leaves good lacing. Aroma features a strong fruity note, supported by hops and a little malt. Flavor offers bolder notes of pear, apple, resiny hops and fresh malt plus a floral hint. Flavor doesnít quite say IPA, but it is pleasing. Smooth mouthfeel delivers good body and lively fizz. Dig the black iron,

Grand Canyon Coffee Bean Stout
22 oz bottle from a random gas station just outside Grand Canyon National Park. Had a weird plastic thing in the neck of the bottle called a "flavor bomb " with two coffee beans and a toasted oak stick in it. Supposed to add flavor to the beer. Pours dark brown / black color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Moderately roasted malt flavor with some day old coffee and sweet milk chocolate. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation.

Hoppy, piney aroma, fruits on the back. No head, but even though - nice lacing, bit hazy, dark golden color. Taste similar to aroma. Fruity, piney, with nice bitterness in the end. Very drinkable, almost refreshing. Nice solid IPA.

I had this in spring. Guessing it was made in the fall? Some funky chemical flavors came through and some strong soap. I have never experienced this in a beer and don't want to again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the hotel in Tempe.

Figured I might as well try this Arizona "classic" while I was here. Light orange pour, modest head. Pretty clean lager nose, mild hopping, subtly sweet, very easy to drink. Nothing special, but Iím enjoying this glass.

From a 12 ounce bottle. Pours an amber brown with light carbonation. Head dissipates quickly. Nose of malt, maybe caramel. Heavily malted taste, almost of bread dough. Finishes slightly sweet. Middle of the road, but could be better. If you ever go to Williams, AZ, check out Bearizona! (especially if you have young ones)

Grand Canyon Shaggy Bock
Man - I hate that this will bring down my doppelbock score, as it;ís a style I love when done well...but my average just doesnít seem to indicate that. Definitely NOT doppelbock in presentation. More pale bock, and kinda weak even then. Malty and boring...slightly bready but thatís it. Won;t be back here anytime soon.
