Beijing Okhotsk Beer Reviews

Beershine
2.9
Beijing Okhotsk Mild Stout
Draft @ brewpub. Black. The head is inconsequential and fades soon. Like the others, the aroma is bland and hardly there. There is a hint of ink. It tastes better with nice chocolate malt coming through. Good charcoal-type flavors too. Gassy but still alright.

2.8
Beijing Okhotsk Ale
Draft @ brewpub. Amber-red with lively lasting head comprised of a million bubbles. Fruity aroma with pears carrying over into the flavors, blending with the bland but clean crystal and caramel malts. Thin and highly carbonated. Has an English character especially in the malt profile but also possibly the yeast.

Beijing Okhotsk Weizen
Draft 2 brewpub. Thick and soupy looking brew. Pale tan-yellow with thick, stable head. Aromatic, like a cross between a wit and a hefeweizen. Spritzy, with nice esters of light fruit, banana, and plum. Thick yeasty palate is a bit much, but it sorta works and has good flavor. Lots of banana but still manages to be clean.

Beijing Okhotsk Pilsner
Draft @ brewpub. Orange, more the color of a pale ale than a pils. Stable head. Aroma is bland and papery, and smells underhopped but clean. Served very cold. Is not hopped well at all but still finishes clean. Still has a thin, bland papery profile. Needs a lot more flavor and body.

Beijing Okhotsk Ale
Copper colour, bright, with an inch-thick head. Caramelly aroma with nice fruitiness. Mostly fruity on the palate - vague apples and lychees - certainly nohting interesting. This is backed by bland caramels.

Beijing Okhotsk Mild Stout
Dark brown, with not much head. The aroma is faint, maybe with some caramel. Light roasty, chocolatey character. Dryish finish. This is a bit thin, but has some ok porterish-brown ale-ish notes.

Beijing Okhotsk Pilsner
Amber colour. Slightly hazy with a thin head. The aroma has some earthy, slightly herbal hop. Not much bitterness, but a little bit of woody, earthy continental hop on the palate. It’s crisp and refreshing, with subtle malts.

Extra cloudy with a big fluffy head. Lots of carbonation. The aroma has light banana and apple. Soft body with mellow apple notes, a creamy character and a wheaty finish. Have it for dessert.

Beijing Okhotsk Ale
Draught at the brewpub. Clear amber, small head. Fruit and nutty with notes of strawberries. Medium sweet and fairly soft. Mildly roast ywith notes of licorice and ripe fruits. Dusty finish with medium bitterness. A well balanced beer, and the only proper ale style beer I’m aware of being brewed in Beijing.

Beijing Okhotsk Weizen
Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy deep golden, fairly brief head. A somewhat phenolic clove and banana aroma jumps at me directly. Medium sweet and well rounded with lots of estery bandaid. Refreshin, though very hard on the esters.
