Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 3.8
On tap at Capitol Cider, pours a clear blonde with no head. Nose is big on the treacle toffee-like honey. Flavour is big and decadent, with treacle toffee, alcohol and lots of honey. Fairly alcoholic but really well-balanced, with not too much sweetness. Excellent.

Murky plum grape juice, thin bubbled ring. Cheesy diacetyl nose, sting berry and sugars with dusty paper oxidation. Ultra sweet cheesy front palate, boozy whack across berry middle, stinging through the rough, hot papery end. Sticky and hot, bad throughout.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Cyser 3.5
Bottle. Pours a light amber, with am aroma of honey and really just hints of apple. Flavor is sweet and the honey is up front with the apple in the background. Taste is nice, but the apple is not all the prominent or all that interesting, and the subtle complexities of some meads is missing. Finishes sweet but not sticky or overdone, with a mild alcohol burn. Nice, but I like their maple mead better.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 3.4
Bottle. Light pour, honey aroma, nothing special. Taste is, to me, pretty basic, but also on the sweet side, and more than I really prefer. Easy to drink, but just too sweet. I would opt for others this meadowy.

Hidden Legend Maple Mead 3.8

Hidden Legend Huckleberry Mead 3.1
Woodshed 3.0! Blue waxed 75cl bottle pours with a rosy red clear body that has wafer thin legs. The aroma is berry, some sweet honey and a touch of bees wax. The taste is thin to watery where I get berry juice, some drying notes that are tannin like as well as a red wine sensation. Thin tannic and not all that great.

Hidden Legend Huckleberry Mead 2.9
Red pour. Berry flavors, something a tad artificial, dry aged some beeswax. Just ok.

Hidden Legend Chokecherry Mead 2.4
This was the first disappointment I had from these guys. The choke cherries are both dry and bitter and the balance with the sweetness just doesnít quite work right.

Hidden Legend Peach Mead 3.6
There is a light fruitiness in the aroma, along with some substantial honey. But itís is difficult to identify it as peach. The flavor has a hint of peach perhaps but is also just seems light and citrusy.pretty good but a tad sweet. Actually, the more I drink of this the peachier and less enjoyable this gets. A bit cloying even.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Cyser 4.3
Just a nice layer of honey in the aroma that isnít too sweet but without any apples. The flavor isnít quite as tasty as the aroma but itís still nice. Easy to drink and doesnít give you a headache. Looking forward to trying some of the others.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 3.3
Bottle poured into a belgian tulip glass. Pours a clear, pale yellow. No carbonation. The aroma is dry, floral honey. I pick up a lot on the alcohol while itís cold. As it warms though, it starts to become more honey like in character. It gets fairly sweet and that sweetness lingers on the tongue. I found myself enjoying this mead more toward the end of my glass than at the beginning. Iím not sure if that was the alcohol speaking, or if it is just better served closer to room temperature. Either way, i want to try some of their other meads despite my friend telling me that this one was the best of the oneís distributed in the area.

Hidden Legend Pure Honey Mead 3.5
650 ml bottle
More similar to a rich dessert wine this is fruity, dense, and hard to finish after a few beers. Perhaps if it were all I opened with dinner I might be able to finish it. As it is drinking more than about a half pint was tough. Thanks to Travlr for sharing.

Aroma / Appearance - Creamy vanilla legs crawl down the sides as you would expect from a high gravity mead. The flat base and transparent golden body release thick waves of honey and creamy alcohol. This is filling just from the nose alone.

Flavor / Palate - Vanilla and honey cling to the corners of the palate. Sticking to the tongue like syrup this is so rich that it is borders on cloying. A vinous finish adds nice depth. Overall though I wish I would have had a vacuum seal to recork it and finish the bottle the next day.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 3.7
Bottle at Blippsmas! Pours a clear gold. Smells of honey and a touch of plastic fruit. Quite sweet, lots of honey, candy. Cloyingly sweet, honey, a bit plastic. Decent but too sweet for me.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 2.5

Hidden Legend Pure Honey Mead 3.9
My first mead! I love honey and honey products so I thought it was about time to give a mead a shot and one that focused on honey. Being my first, I really donít have anything to compare it to so I tried to rate as fairly as I could. The aroma is a dry, alcohol with the sweet honey notes. Obviously no head or lace but as with a wine, the legs it left on the glass were crazy. Color was a nice, golden hue. The flavor was similar to the aroma. Dry, warming alcohol with honey sweetness. What else would you expect from one listed as "pure honey" mead? Very smooth finish.

Hidden Legend Chokecherry Mead 3
750ml bottle thanks to Jake65. Pours out a rusty pink. Nose is sweetness, cough drop cherries, and some earth. Taste is cough syrup cherries, some honey sweetness. Not bad but not good. If they did more traditional honey mead and just a little cherries this maybe really good.

Hidden Legend Huckleberry Mead 3.2
Bottle, $16 at Good Earth in Billings. Pours the color of huckleberry juice, go figure, with the hazy sheen of wild honey. Nose is lightly fruity, honey, and a little vinous. Nice taste, semi dry, but mostly sweet. Good huckleberry and honey flavors.

Hidden Legend Dark Mead 3.3
Bottle, 2013. Pours a dark, fairly clear brown, with a light aroma of sweet dark fruit, like dried figs. Taste is moderately sweet, not sticky, with nice flavor notes of figs and a hint of tangy citrus. Alcohol is noticeable but warming, not harsh, and works with the sweetness and flavors. Finishes with a lingering sweetness. A decent mead. Enjoyable.

Hidden Legend Huckleberry Mead 3.6
750 ml bottle labelled as "Yellowstone" instead of "Trapper Creek" but is the same in all other respects. I picked this up in one of the General Stores in Yellowstone. Pours a clear red with no head. This is a still mead. Pleasant aroma of huckleberries and honey. The flavor begins with huckleberries and transitions to the honey ending with some honey sweetness that lingers on the palate. The sweetness is not heavy and in no way cloying. Medium bodied. Nice mead.

Hidden Legend Wild Elderberry Mead 3.6
750 ml. bottle- Pours a brilliant ruby red to purple. Aroma is berries, perfume, honey. The taste is pretty straight forward, elderberry, honey mostly after the swallow, not too sweet, very smooth, noticeable but not overbearing alcohol presence. Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, coats the mouth with honey, a little thin. Really easy drinking, not the best Hidden Legend mead I have had, but enjoyable.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Mead 4.1
Crystal clear light gold, still. Aroma was sweet and slightly citric honey. Flavor was of honey syrup and light orange zest notes blending into a dry honeywax yet smooth sweetness followed by a slight clove tone. Pretty standard yet pretty complex and delicious. Not too sweet, definitely not bland.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Pyment 3.5
750, corked and waxed. Thanks, Adam! These are all really solid. Pours a crystal clear burgundy. Bright acidic grape wine nose, a little blackberry and a little currant. Floral honey notes as well. Watery medium body. The fruits and honey work well together on the mid palate. A little sweet and a little tart.

Hidden Legend The Kingís Cyser 3.8
750, corked and waxed. Thanks, Adam! These are all really solid. Pours a crystal clear pale gold. Nose has bright green apple acidity perfectly blended with a nice floral honey quality. Creamy medium body. The flavors work very well together here. Apples and honey create something new thatís a bit more than the sum of its parts. A little on the sweet side. Approachable and very easy to imagine drinking way too much of without realizing it if youíre in the mood for a dessert drink.

Hidden Legend Chokecherry Mead 3.6
750, corked and waxed. Thanks, Adam! These are all really solid. Pours a crystal clear rubied garnet. Brightly acidic nose blended with pleasant floral honey notes. Watery medium body. Tartness and sweetness play off each other well.

Hidden Legend Peach Mead 3.3
750, corked and waxed. Thanks, Adam! These are all really solid. Pours a crystal clear medium yellow. Nose is fairly dialed black--pleasant combination of sweet juicy peaches with floral honey notes. Creamy medium body. The fruit is so soft in this combination that it doesnít produce a distinctly forward presence one way or another in the aromatics or in the flavor profile, but thatís because peaches are a milder flavor until you really concentrate a lot of them in the tank. Very approachable and easy-drinking mead.

Hidden Legend Huckleberry Mead 3.4
750, corked and waxed. Thanks, Adam! These are all really solid. Pours a crystal clear medium purple. Tart and tangy nose, nice combination of tart fruits and sweet honey. Creamy medium body. Acidity doesnít really come through on the mid palate, but itís a little more watery than the other meads. Nice blend of tartness and honey on the tongue.
