Slightly cloudy deep yellow. Nose is green and citrus hops, slightly earthy. Flavor follows with nice hop bitterness. Has that odd slightly pool chemically thing going on I always get from session IPAs, but less than most.

Lawson’s Finest Fayston Maple Imperial Stout - Rum Barrel Aged 4.5
This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with a quickly dissipating off white to tan head that left no lacing. The smell had sweet maple rolling into the subtle sweet milk chocolate and roasty to bitter coffee tones. The taste was semi-sticky sweet through the combination of the maple and the milk chocolate. Boozy heat is mild, but there. Dry milk chocolate aftertaste with a robust semi-sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sticky sipping quality about it. Carbonation feels good allowing the stickiness from the maple hit my tongue nicely, almost cloying, but tame. Overall, really awesome Imperial Stout that I would love to have again.

Lawson’s Finest Red Spruce Bitter 3.9
On tap at Blackback pub and treated as an ESB even though it was poured into a tulip. Yeah, well, a slight knock on Blackback for not knowing their shit (ESB’s aren’t supposed to be poured into tulips). Here’s the rest. The appearance was a dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated pretty quickly. The smell had a malty sweet and slightly spicy (allspice/cinnamon sort of thing going on). Caramel and toffee sweetness. The taste was mostly sweet with the spices running underneath. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sly sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing a nice smooth feel (like an ESB should) to lay down on my tongue nicely. Overall, though it says spice/vegetable style, I’d say this is more of an ESB with the creativity of Lawson’s ingenious mind of doing something slightly different. Pass the fish n’ chips with this one, I’d have again..

Lawson’s Finest Triple Sunshine IPA 5
This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy almost burnt orange color with a one finger white head that dissipated immediately. Lacing spider webbed and became spotty. The smell started off with sweet onion, subtle sweet grassy, sticky citrus leads into a light grapefruit portion blending wonderfully. Light mango and resinous pine slides in underneath. The taste was more bitter than sweet, but the sweetness does come out in the warming of the beer. Dry floral quality adds to the quality of this beer. Light citrus smooth aftertaste runs into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with more of a sipping quality to it. Carbonation runs at a nice pace along my tongue allowing the bitterness to hit just all around really spectacular. Overall, if this is a DIPA, well, you know damn right it is! Wow, just plain wow! Thanks so much Andy! I think this might be my only 5 on ratebeer.

Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine IPA 3.8
Thank you Mathieu87 & PriorL! 473 ml. can sampled @ “Mathieu’s house cooling party”. Bottled on 10.21.15. Very hazy orange, little head. Nose is yeasty current IPA styel hop soup, peel, peach, pine. Taste is bitter yeast peach hop soup with some dough, yeast, green grass bitterness. Lightly fizzy body, yeasty, dash lemonade. A bit too sweet & yeasty for me but I am not the biggest fan of these hop & yeast soup IPA’s. Nice beer ‘though, not entirely to my preference.

Lawson’s Finest The Carrier Sessions (New Guinea) 3.7
Bottle: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of coffee and hazelnut is pretty interesting. Taste is a nice mix between some hazelnut, some dry floral coffee notes with a light green finish. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Nice take on a style we see not enough of in North America.

Lawson’s Finest Super Session IPA #2 3.7
On tap at Blackback Pub. Aroma: loads of citrus which I enjoy. App: clear golden, small white head and good lacing. Taste and palate: thin body, fruity but not that much, on the limit of being watery, moderate high carbonation, medium bitter finish. Overall: easy to drink, maybe a bit too much carbs for a session. Anyway, good session ipa.

Lawson’s Finest Peppercorn Saison 4.1
This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy burnt golden orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Concave foamy white lacing sticks to the glass nicely. The smell takes in sweet biscuity to bready aromas bouncing into subtle citrus, sweet rye and spicy peppercorn. Bright grassiness rounds out the aroma. The taste takes in the previously mentioned flavors to enhance the sweet bready / biscuitiness. Definitely sweet bready aftertaste runs into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation runs pretty light allowing the breadiness to want to be slightly sticky. Overall, I’d say this was an absolutely wonderful saison that I would have again.

Lawson’s Finest Triple Play IPA 4.8
I’m not usually one to pour AIPA’s into tulips. But thinking this was a DIPA, I did and so I kept it in this for shits and giggles. Okay, well, here’s the rest. The appearance was a burnt golden color with a one finger white foamy head that held up for great retention and dissipated at a nice pace into a concave sort of glazing all around. The smell had some sweet danky onion, tropical fruity bliss and as it warmed bitter piney/resinous aromas wrapping together. The taste had the bitterness of the pine coinciding with the tropical fruity hops. Bitter juicy to semi-sprucy aftertaste runs into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a good sipping to almost sneaky sessionable feel to it. Carbonation feels good for an AIPA allowing enough bitterness all around. Overall, I’d say this was an exceptional AIPA that I would love to have again.

Lawson’s Finest Super Session IPA #2 3
En fût au Blackpack. Une bière jaune dorée avec une mousse blanche. Un nez peu bavard à la limite fade. La bouche est sur le même registre avec une drôle d’amertume herbacée. Elle est fade et manque de oumphe.

Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine IPA 4.2

Draught at Finnigan’s. Amazing citrusy hop bomb with a fantastic drinkability, rich pink grapefruit, weed and tropical notes, clean dry finish. Luckily spotted this one while hunting for Heady Topper, and it almost made me forget my target, world class!

Lawson’s Finest/Cigar City Reverse Migration 3.7
Draft at Worthy Burger. Clear orange inn color with small lasting head in the snifter. Aroma is a huge amount of mango balanced by pine, light notes of other fruits.

Like the aroma the mango starts the flavor but is eliminated pretty quickly by the pine. So much pine that I would have guessed this was brewed on the west coast. Mouthfeel has a lively effervescent feel. Texture becomes dry from the pine. Overall very nicely made but was hoping the fruit was more balanced. Still extremely drinkable.

Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine IPA 4.2
Can from Jamesy -- thanks for being my mule! Another huge, super aromatic DIPA from Vermont, and this one earns its reputation. It trips over itself with waves of hops, and there’s a lot of floral and fruit aromas up front and the just the right amount of bitterness at the end to not overpower everything. It’s pretty full bodied and a little sweet, but it works and it’s a great example of the style.

Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine IPA 4.2
First rating of 2016, and it going to be hard to top. Yellow, good sized head. Lots of bright, fresh ops in the aroma, a lot of grapefruit. Nice smooth palate, seems less than 8%. Again, lots of fresh hop flavors, mostly grapefruit but some resin, as well. Subtle caramel and brown sugar, as well. Nice stuff. Thanks to grownfool for this one!

Lawson’s Finest The Carrier Sessions (New Guinea) 3.8
Draft, Pitch black. 3 finger very creamy off white head. Sticky lacing. The aroma is 100% cold brew with cream and a distinct sweet aroma. Good mouthfeel. Creamy with a good sweetness that lingers. The coffee flavor is aggressive up front but it doesn’t linger.

Lawson’s Finest The Carrier Sessions (New Guinea) 3.8
Draft at Worth Burger. Almost black in color, mild spotty lace along the snifter. The aroma is fresh roasted coffee beans, mild roasted grain and sugar. The flavor is just coffee forward and bold as the aroma. The body of beer still has the lighter (session) feel without showing any watery character. The coffee lingers in the finish with a dry roasted texture. The Brewer really has something special with a 4.5 % mild ale. Wow

16 oz can from Winooski Beverage, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a full, tight, off-white head. Aroma: Lots of juicy tropical fruit, resin, lavender-like floral notes, nice biscuit/bread maltiness, some cat pee/burnt hair, pretty nice. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full carbonation. Flav.: Tons ’o juicy, fruity hops, tropical fruits, a bit floral, less cat pee and burnt hair, pineapple, mango, persimmon, a bit peppery, modest malt support with some biscuit and bread; sweet with decent bitterness and a long, tropical fruit, juicy hop finish.

Damn good.

12oz can into glass. Pours a modest tan peach. Firm white, fluffed head, cloud lacing. Aroma of a danty ipa, cone hops, pine, orange, melon. Taste of the same, yet missing the hop bite in in end, substituted by a rather bland diet beer taste, such is the session. Great aroma, poundable, decent.

Lawson’s Finest Super Session IPA #2 4
Amazingly fresh and fluffy. Although rich, west coast hops define this beer, it doesn’t ever become cloying or sticky. In fact, it is almost quaffable. Refreshing and light for such a style, but also remarkably flavorful.
