A darker, more rich pour than expected, deep amber, leaving about .5 finger of off-white head. The nose was more bitter than expected, medium sweaty hops... also some light citrus/ sour notes. Taste also has a similar balance, higher hop content than I expected from the style (nice surprise again), offset with the citrus and sugars. Easily sessionable brew, very satisfying. Light caramel in color, with clean white head. Moderately carbonated, not too overpowering. One of my favorite pale ales, as it is incredibly well balanced. JBVatkeens (10), Florida, USA

Citrus hoppy smells, grapefruit perhaps, nice mellow malts, maybe even orange peel oil. Nicely balanced hops with the malt, no lingering bitterness. Citrus is present but not as much as in the smell. Slightly under-carbonated but creamy and a little watery on the finish.Very drinkable and smooth pale ale. vacantskies (83), Spokane, Washington, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Orange and honey aroma. Opaque orange/brown with a thin head. Flavor is of oranges with a little woodiness and light hints of honey, finishing with walnut. Stronger than an ordinary APA and quite possibly couple be an IPA, but delicious. The aroma was very subtle, hoppy and pleasant. The taste is smooth with a slight bitter after taste. All in all not as outrageous as some of the other Stone Brewing beers. I can see this as an easy drinking every day beer. Wish we could get this in Montreal.
