Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, chocolate, light coffee, light molasses, roasting, and slight soy sauce. Poured pitch black in color with a medium to large-sized, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Very slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of chocolate, malts, light roasting, slight soy sauce, black-strap molasses, and hints of tobacco and vanilla. Medium to full body. Syrupy, smooth, then lightly dry texture. Soft carbonation. Chocolate, malt, slight roasting, and molasses finish is lightly dry. 9%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

12oz bottle served in a snifter. Pours very dark brown, nearly black, with ruby edges. A thin layer off quickly dissipating mocha colored head forms on top. The nose is full of dark Belgian chocolate, some cocoa powder, and hints of grass and booziness. The flavor is blackstrap molasses, dark chocolate, some woody esters, and a boozy character that develops as it warms. Rich and sweet but not sticky. A very good beer that would do well to warm you on a cold night.

This pours a dark ruby tinted, jet black color. A minimal head of brown foam forms and quickly fades. Lacing is fairly minimal. The nose is full of sweet maltiness. Light notes of chocolates and coffee are present, along with some hints of dark fruits. A slight booziness is also detected. This is a huge porter, as in flavor-wise it’s almost more like a barleywine. It has a huge level of sweet malts. Very good presence of dark roasted coffee. Milk chocolates and dark chocolates combine with a lacto-like sweetness. This is all attempted to be balanced by the roastiness of the malts, but the sweetness is slightly more prominent. This is very tasty! This is medium-bodied with a light-to-medium level of carbonation. It is very smooth drinking, with little creaminess to speak of. This is fairly true to style though, so no real surprise. This one is delicious and easy drinking. At the halfway point though, I’m already starting to feel the 9.00%abv. Not one for sessioning, but very tasty.

355 ml bottle. Dark body with a big, rust-red head that disappears. Aroma of sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, liquorices and some alcohol, very lovely and complex. Flavor is complex as well. Sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, liquorices, some alcohol and a subdued bitterness. Very nice indeed.

Pours with a black body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with lots of raisin and bourbon notes as well as a slight sourness. Full bodied, smooth and a touch warming.

Gorgeously dark brown/black pour with a lasting, frothy head. Aroma is immense and full of sweet plum, roasted malt, and a bit of smoke. Flavor is equally bold with notes of cappuccino in addition to the aromatic elements. Palate is quite smooth with a slight alcohol bite at the back. It may be picky, but dropping the alcohol 1% would have made this almost perfect. The flavors and richness push towards that of an imperial stout, which makes me wonder, but ... Certainly one of the most enjoyable Baltic Porters I have had the chance to experience.

Thanks Ucusty for this treat! Pours black with a fizzy disappearing orange head. Aroma is chocolate, maple syrup, dark fruit, and a touch of roast. The flavor is very rich and fruity, with a little tang. Also sweet, with orange, strawberries, and plums. Some chocolate flavor as well and a nice roasted malt quality in the finish. Almost no bitterness. A great flavor in a great beer. The mouthfeel is fantastic too. Thick and velvety smooth. Like molasses. Loved this beer.
