| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2010 This beer has a nice aroma of burnt sugar and fruity esthers. Taste has the sweet caramel with an aftertaste very much of a brown ale. The taste of alcohol is quite well hidden. A well balanced sweet belgian beer. Unlike the triple, this one has more of a malty nutty character (almost like a brown) plus the the awesome texture Westmalle delivers with both beers. TeamTrappist (419), jericho, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Bottle. Poured a deep and rich caramel with a foamy head. Bartender gave me a bad pour but I got over it. Malty and yeasty nose. This is really well carbonated. Some mice malts a touch of sweetness and a solid dry finiish. dnstone (287), Mons, Belgium
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Sweet, slightly roasty aroma. Moderately sweet and malty, very solid dubbel. Brown with nice, lively tan head. Wolfbass (98), Firenze, Italy
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Red-brown color with frothy beige head. Attractive intense aroma of malt, fruit and signs of chocolate. Medium body, not elevated alcoholic gradation. In mouth it is delicious, it slightly begins sweet, to end with a mixture of sweet, dry and a point of bitterish. Excellent. Cole (320), , Alberta, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Ours deep brown with a tall foamy head. Aroma is strong and yeasty with notes of dark fruit and bread. Interesting flavour, Sharp and sour with a very bready finish. A very interesting brew. No mid palate and a week in the finish. Good beer, but not very impressive as trappist goes.
