In 1823, nineteen year old Archibald Bell was the first explorer to cross the Blue Mountains through the area now known as Bilpin. The region’s fertile soil, mountain elevation and agreeable climate combine to make it ideal for growing fruit. Bilpin soon developed into one of Australia’s premium apple orchards.
